Hi, I understand that swami is supercool software to determine the diet perfect for you, but, is it based on your specific answers to each genotype question or is it based purely on genotype, blood type and secretor status? Any help would be really appreciated as I feel a little bit lost at the mo.

When you get SWAMI, there are a lot of data fields to enter. It asks your blood type, secretor status (you can leave it blank if you don't know it), and a lot of questions about your personal and family health history. You also enter in the data that you used to determine your genotype- but you let the program calculate the genotype for you. There's a place to put in your genotype, if you want to over-ride what it calculates for you, but that should only be used if you have a specific reason to do so. SWAMI works best when you let it do its own calculations.

It may come up with a "genotype label" different from the one you got in the book. That's OK. It then evaluates each and every food on many factors, determining if that food is good for you or not. Sometimes you can see clearly "this food is good for my blood type, that's why it's good on my SWAMI" or "this food is good for my genotype, so I see why it's good on my SWAMI"( the same is true for the "avoid" foods) but sometimes it seems somewhat random and you're not sure why SWAMI says a food is good for you or bad for you.

I too am thinking about getting Swami...(birthday is coming up soon & it´s the only pressie I really really want!) . My question is..is secretor status necessary or is it possible to have a relevant personalised diet without it?? Has anyone experience of this?

rosa - If you don't want to get a secretor test, you can input that you are one or the other in your SWAMI profile and see how it goes, then after a bit of time, you can go back and change what you've input and see what changes it makes to your food lists, and try eating that way. You're most likely a secretor (80-85% of people are - but I wouldn't necessarily assume...)

That being said, it really is a very important piece of information, and even though the test is quite expensive, it's well worth knowing for sure

Getting a swami is the best thing I ever got.
Actually I would not be following GTD if I had not been swamied .
I am such a bordercase than I have very strong influence from all 3 genotypes so it was really confusing not to really fit any of the GT very well.
But my swami is a match made in heaven ( I only miss avocado, olives and bacon )

So, I just had a look at the example swami 'jane public' and I am an explorer too does this mean that my swami would be the same? Am guessing not... so, when I did my genotype I came out as explorer but hunter seemed to be in the running for a time too...does swami take all these anomalies into consideration?

No. "Jane Public" is not a real person- that was run with random answer checked for the health questions and measurements. The only point of the "Jane Public" SWAMI is to show people what the SWAMI printout looks like, which foods are rated, etc.

Nobody is intended to use that particular food list.

I managed to buy from the green fields clinic site in the UK, but had assumed it was a download and not a physical disc.

Happy Birthday, rosa!  I got mine for Christmas.  I don't know my secretor status, yet I still get some benefit from it.  As well, I've run it both with secretor and non-secretor status -- that field is not "locked" once you enter something into it.  Good luck!

My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

It is a user name and password, as the program runs in a browser window...

SWAMI takes into account all of the information you input and calculates the diet for you based on that input - which is significantly more than the book takes into account.  If you don't have some of the non-required information, the program will still provide information, but when you get more information and re-run it, there may be changes...

Greenfields Clinic is fine.

But right4eu.sageshops.co.uk is working.

http://right4eu.sageshops.co.uk/gbp/product_info.php?products_id=193

It is not a disk.

What you receive by mail, is a link to a website with login information.

When SWAMI Xpress 2 is released it will be distributed electronically.

Thanks so much everyone I am now looking forward to getting "swamied" without the secretor status for the moment...as you all say I can add to the data input at a later date.
SquarePeg, many thanks for the birthday wishes..it´s on Saturday..but I´m working all day    Nevertheless I´ll celebrate dining-out in the evening with DH...whether it will be fully compliant is another story Between the BTD & GTD I have a pretty good idea which foods are ok...tho´I´m depending on Swami to ´tweak´ it...just hoping the odd glass or two of red wine are still ok

You're still following BTD, so red wine is fine.

Even if red wine comes out as an "avoid" on SWAMI, you may still choose to indulge a few times a year anyway. SWAMI is a resource, and it's up to you how to use it.

can you use the swami test for more than one family member, or do you need to purchase 1 for each person

SWAMI Xpress is licensed for use for a single person.

There are time locked fields designed to prevent you from switching the input data from one person to another person.

Rosa, I took the plunge and just got my SWAMI, my brain just hurt from trying to be such an ace detective   ...It's brilliant...so glad I did. I happen to like boundaries and was feeling lost trying to balance blood type and genotype...it really is like fairy godmother waving her sparkly wand, and now all the worry has just gone and I can just get on with the living, and the eating, and the being happy, knowing what it means when I put food in my body...good or bad...am now in control.
Hope you get your SWAMI soon and love it as much as I do and hope you get just as many lovely surprises...yum, yum, yum...

Well said, Brimstone. As a bonus, getting good results (immediate, convincing for many folks) eliminates the confusing background noise of so much conflicting information offered by the various "one-size-fits-all" diets.

Just curious but is it possible for SWAMI to give back things like chicken to B or AB people? Or are the main avoids still avoids no matter what?

I'm cooking for all 4 types, and my work is cut out in the mom cave. Our blood types are as follows AB+ (me), O-, A+ (x2 adult children), B+(2 year old).
