Hi everyone.  I'm new here and after reading many posts, I decided to put up the money and buy SWAMI (just got it today).  Near the beginning of the form it asks me for my genotype.  I know my blood type and secretor status but not my genotype.  Does this mean that I have to buy the book to find out what it is?  thanks.

Specify "Determine GenoType For Me" if you want your GenoType calculated. This setting is best in most situations since the method SWAMI uses to determine GenoType is more sophisticated than the book and utilizes additional factors.

In most situations, it's best to let SWAMI determine your genotype. There are a few exceptions; times when you want to over-ride what SWAMI calculates for you for one reason or another.

Some have found, through trial and error, that SWAMI works better for them when it's run through a specific genotype. One woman shared that her husband refused to follow the Warrior diet SWAMI calculated for him (he wanted his meat!) so she set it to "Teacher" just so he'd be willing to give the diet a try.

If I had the "at home" version of the software, I'd probably run it through as Explorer just to see what changes it might make, since I have some Gatherer and some Explorer tendencies. (But I have the pro version, run for me by a health professional, and I'm not going to bug her just to play around with the food lists.)

But for starters, you want to enter the data about yourself and let SWAMI do the calculations. It's much more likely to "get it right" that way.

I have completed the SWAMI data as best as I can but don't know what to do about the fingerprint information.  Do I have to order the kit or is there any other way to do it.  I asked for diet results at the end but was told that it can't be done until i fill out the info on my fingerprints.  help

The kit is convenient for getting the fingerprints, but not really necessary.

If you do a search on the site you will see a variety of ways people have used for fingerprinting.

But certainly one can just use the old standby method of rolling your finger on a stamp pad (used for rubber stamps) and then roll your inked finger on a piece of paper to get the print.

Non roll method for using a stamp if rolling is not working for you:

You need to get some sort of ink on your fingers and then press your fingers on clean white paper. If you have the kind of ink that's used with rubber stamps, that will work. I've even heard of people using raw beet juice as "ink" for taking fingerprints, but I'm not sure if that's very accurate (chop up beets and then stick your fingers in the pink liquid from the cutting board.) Some people have visually examined their fingers with a magnifying glass. And I think I recall using pencils as part of a "Detective" set as a kid- rub a lot of pencil thickly on an area, press fingers into the spot, then press onto paper, or press fingers against transparent tape and then adhere the tape to clear white paper.

All in all, it  can get messy and complicated, and the fingerprinting kit isn't very expensive- it also comes with instructions and the materials to make it easier to get the information you need. But if you want to finish this NOW and don't have the kit, see what you can scrounge up from your house to take fingerprints.

Another option is to fill in all the fields as "composite." That's what people do if their fingerprints are unreadable due to white lines (which can indicate gut damage, and usually clears up after time on the right diet.) but it's best to try and get your actual prints first.

C-Sharp and ruthiegirl,  - so creative, you two, thanks.  I will try of those methods, (or all of them, great video). to see if I can get good prints.  But if I do put 'composite' for now, can I come back later and change it with the print information, even after I have gotten the results?

try looking through a looking glass

works best for me during swami data input in our clinic

most low ridged fingers turn blurry when using ink
