I've been plagued with diarrhea which, for me, is very unusual for 6 days now.  I had started on Dr. D's supplements 12 days prior to getting it (having switched from Standard Process) and my bm's actually improved until 6 days ago.

I haven't stopped taking the ARA6 2x daily along with the suggested dosage for the Teacher 3-pack.  I've even (since the diarrhea started, added Dr. D's multivitamin and mineral, each 2x per day to compensate with what I'm probably missing due to my food not being digested properly.

It all started after I had eaten some organic bagged baby romaine lettuse in a salad.  That was last Wednesday.  Thursday it started.  Didn't throw out the lettuce until after I had consumed 3 salads (Wed., Thurs, & Fri.)!  Anyways, it still hasn't gone away.  I kept eating salads daily beyond Friday until today.  I'm now thinking that the raw vegetables may be irritating my condition.  Hope staying away from raw veggies for a spell will work cause I'm out of ideas.

Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?

By the way, I'm not going back to Standard Process.  My husband wants me to take one of their products our Dr. recommended for him.  So far I've avoided that.

Please help.

food poisoning e coli from prepared veg would be my first guess. lemon juice in glass of water a few times a day. stop all sugar and reduce fruit a lot. cayenne pepper that sort of thing is good.

There's a "tonic" that I've used or given to stop diarrhea fast. It is raw apple cider vinegar (ACV), fresh squeezed lemon, turmeric, and a natural sweetener of your choice (agave, honey, etc.).

Be cautious as ACV is an avoid for type A's, however, I believe that it is the ACV and turmeric that have the most impact on stopping the diarrhea. However, if you have some kind of food poisoning you would probably need more help to heal your gut.

Be sure you only use only raw ACV with the "mother" as it is the living enzymes that directly work on the digestive tract.

Thanks.  I'm going to try this as I don't yet have the ACV vinegar.  Broke down and took Pepto Bismol (sp?) at 5:30 EST.  Haven't had a recurrence yet.  Will now drink some lemon water before bedtime.

Thanks, all.

I tried a small amount of the raw ACV and even diluting it with tons of water it about burned out my throat.  This A absolutely cannot handle the stuff!

Here is my personal experience with conquering severe diarrhea, but since it was from a different cause this information may not be helpful to you personally:

I had really bad diarrhea after antibiotics, uva ursi and D-Mannose for a urinary tract infection.  I think the 3 things I took for the UTI wiped out all of the e coli in my digestive tract, some of which you really do need but in the proper place.

The only thing that worked to stop it was double doses of Renew Life Adult formula (10 kinds of probiotics for a total of 15 billion per capsule).  The powerful probiotic got me back to normal after about a week.  You can buy it on Amazon.

Both my MD doctor and my local naturopathic advisor had told me I needed probiotics to prevent the recurring UTI's (one a month) I was plagued with, so all of this information may not be appropriate for you at all but thought I'd share it anyway just in case the other remedies suggested to you do not help.

I am still taking the Renew Life, one per day, to help prevent further UTI infections.  I also take cranberry capsules plus raw cranberries in my smoothies.

Good morning everyone and thanks, SO MUCH, for responding.    I don't know why I didn't think to come to the forum sooner for help and advise.  I'm such a newbie!

After drinking the lemon water last night (about 2 hours after I had taken a dose of Pepto Bismol, I slept for 8 hours only rising once to pee.  Gut has, to this point, settled down.  This morning after rising I did have my regular trip to the bathroom but it was not so much and thicker.  Very pleased so far.  Going to try some almond butter toast and raspberry leaf/chamomile tea.  Of course I took my ARA6 and regular Dr. D. caps.

Personal note to Ginny... I spent 4 1/2 yrs in Chattanooga.  My three children were born there.  It's always nice to hear from another A+ Non-Secretor.  Never had trouble with UTI except for 1 slight infection a couple of years ago.  It just goes to prove how different we each are.   Sure hope yours stay away!

The new minerals might have added to the situation for a short while.. glad to hear you are on the mend..

I have a friend whis near death from this condition, I will send her all info.. Thanks

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

Wow, Goldie!  Hope your friend is better now.

I don't think Dr. D's, minerals were involved because I didn't start to take them until a few days after the diarrhea started.  Thanks anyways.  It's 8:10 EST this A.M. and still no more trips to the bathroom since I first woke.  Yeh!  Planning on another dose of lemon water at noon.

To Enobattar,

Hey - glad to meet you.  Hope you enjoyed your years in TN.  We've been here over 20 years now and I am very happy we made the move.  (Not as happy as being steered to Dr. D's program by a caring neighbor, but nothing could top that!)

It seems that half the people I know locally in ER are nonnies, but since we seem to have more health issues I guess that sort of makes sense.  I guess I should say, "since we USED TO have more health issues", eh?  Nuff for now.

Thanks to GinnyTN for the personal note and to Amazone I. for the suggestion.  Ginny, it does seem like there is a lot of nonnies around.  Hardly the mere 18-20% that is stated.  It must be that a higher percentage of nonnies post due to more health challenges???

Just saw my chiropractor and he identified my problem as being a virus in my gut.  That explains the burning pain that I had in my stomach.  He prescribed 2 S.P. products (which was no surprise) and told me to eat a lot of starch.  Six days on Immuplex, 3 per day; then stop that and go to Cholocol (sp?) for 6 days taking 4 a day.  Immuplex to "put out the fire" and then Cholocol (sp?) to "build me back up" according to Doc.

I will take his advise since it only involves 12 days and take a Deflect with each dose.  Yesterday I ordered Dr. D's. products for the gut problems and will have them on hand when/if there is a next time.  Oh, I hope not!

BTW, that suggestion up above to eat the BRAT diet is working.... banana = no burning in tummy, rice (brown prepared w/sea salt and garlic) = no or very little burning, applesauce (plain) = no burning.  My homemade bread/toast did get a burning reaction but probably due to the 'extra' ingredients I had put into it.  So I'm about to try pan flat bread made simply of quinoa flour/water/sea salt.  Hoping for a good reaction.

No bm since 6:30 A.M.  Sure hope this continues!  Thanks for everyone's input.

I noted you had prewashed salad when this started. e-coli is not the only problem. if it comes back get tested for parasites.

Thanks for your thought, Battle Dwarf...... (Are you that funny little guy with the long red beard on Lord of the Rings????     Of course, I shouldn't throw stones with a handle like Enobattar!

But, yes, that was a concern of mine.  Doc confirmed the definate cause this time as a virus.  He tested me on parasites and it came back negative.  Parasites have always been a concern for me ever since age 40.  I was a sugarholic big time and with a weak immune system to begin with.  I came down with parasites more than once.  UUUUUUGH.

If there is a next time, I will now have Dr. D's. supplements on hand to take right away instead of groping in the dark trying to find my own way out of it, wasting many days that I could have been recovering.  Oh well, there's a lot of wisdom in those three little words, 'live and learn.'
