Nothing technical, i just thought i'd check first before i ask here.


I'll just ask here.  

On the daily portions for carbohydrates, my swami says grains, cereals and rice 1/4 C. does this mean cooked or uncooked?.

Under beverages it says; green tea, kukicha, bancha.  Does this mean the types of green tea i can have as in kukicha or bancha, or does it mean i can have green tea (any type), kukicha or bancha?.  

Does cocoa fall under chocolate?.


Can anyone help clarify these for me?.

Mickey thank you for asking. These questions have been recurring. I'd like to add my request to clarify them in the coming new version, it will make daily life even easier.

a. I've checked my Swami, the words "cooked" / "uncooked" do not appear in the report.

b. I'd think that if only kukicha and bancha are rated, it would have looked like this
"Green tea: kukicha, bancha". As is, it looks like 3 equivalent alternatives. I find the presentaion in the TypeBase lists preferable: green tea / kukicha / bancha.

c. Likewise, if cocoa falls under chocolate, it would be preferable to add the cocoa and write cocoa / chocoloate.

I would like to clarify the following..

I am eating meat and veg.. to not gain weight.

I couls/should/would... who knows what..... on the list is also is fruit, starches, grains, spices,

How many of all those Super Beneficials can I have on one plate? or per day?  and Beneficials - If I was young, or older?

I wonder would the size of the meal be indicative of that?  

If I have a fruit, can I also have rice? could I have the portion from every category as listed?????


Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

Yeali: colons are not used in SWAMI food lists (Except on the Wallet Cards, where they are used to separate different food items).

Commas are used in at least three ways:

(1) List of alternate food names:

Tapioca, Manioc, Cassava, Yucca

(2) To specify a portion of a food rather than the entire food:

Wheat, Bran, Germ  (Second comma I presume is an either or)

(3) To specify a type or variety of a food:

Wheat, Whole Grain Emmer

I looked at the links you posted.  There's alot of conflicting opinions and speculation.  What i took away from it is that i believe green tea stands alone, so that's good for me because i'm not to fond of kukicha or bancha.  Someone said that they believe chocolate means cocoa since it's listed in the spice section, so i will go with that unless i hear differently.  The grains are still not to clear some say it means cooked, some say uncooked.

Yes if not a clarification page, then at least a place where people can get answers.  Though it would be nice to get clarification from Doctor D so we know for sure.  I've noticed alot of the same questions coming up over time, so at least if we could have a place where people could find the answers instead of asking the same questions over and over.

What I do is look at a serving size on the side of a bag of a typical grain, such as rice.  It is usually 1/4 cup dry.  Then I look at the calories of that one serving.  Then I use that number of calories to gauge how big of a serving I should have of some other carbohydrate, such as a piece of homemade bread.  On average this would be around 150 calories.

I take this as any type of green tea.  The type that Dr. D sells in his online store is type Genmaicha which isn't even listed on the SWAMI.

I take that to mean strictly powdered cocoa.  A chocolate bar will typically contain cocoa butter which is very high in saturated fat which personally messes up my digestion.  If I stick with powdered cocoa, I'm perfectly fine.

I take "chocolate" to mean chocolate, both cocoa butter and the cocoa powder. I do not take it to mean "commercial chocolate bar with sugar and milk added." I buy the unsweetened baking chocolate for myself; I melt it and stir in some agave and/or molasses and let cool before eating. I even made "peanut butter cups" once with almond butter and 100% compliant ingredients, but it was a lot of work and I only did it that once. I also buy chocolate chips for the kids- these have chocolate (including cocoa butter), vanilla, and non-GMO sugar. 2 of my 3 kids are Ok with small amounts of sugar. I might occasionally eat 1 or 2 chips, but I don't make a habit of it because I'm not supposed to have the sugar.

I don't use much of the baking chocolate, but I do use cocoa powder regularly. I just find it more convenient to use.

This is what I do for these cases:
Carbohydrates - Cooked,
Tea - Any green Tea for rating but use kukicha if it is available/convenient,
Chocolate - Any unsweetened non dairy cocoa or chocolate is fine

Also for me 1/4 cup cooked rice is a tiny portion. I've just measured my regular portion of rice which I consider moderate - 2 and 1/2 uncooked tablespoons - and it came out 1/4 cup.

I count the carbs as raw- because I know I can cook them "dryer" and end up with a more "dense" cooked grain, or use more water and end up with a larger volume of cooked rice, while it's still the same amount of rice we started with.

I'm not sure if I'm doing that correctly or if I'm consuming more grains than SWAMI thinks I should, but that's what I've been doing.
