Hi everyone, I'm very new to this so hope I'm posting this in the right part of the forum.  I have a few questions and wondered if someone might be able to help.

Ever since I was little I was told my blood group is A positive (my mother also being A positive and my Dad O positive).  However, I wanted to check my blood group (just to confirm) and completed an Eldon cards test.  My blood group came up as AB positive and was really shocked (unfortunately my Dad is no longer alive so I can'd double check his blood group)....but after about 2-3 hours the B circle (which clumped a lot initially) gradually started fading to nothing until there were no clumps at all.  I repeated the test twice and the same thing happened.

Because of this, I paid to have everything checked with a proper lab (Nature-Cure in the UK) and my blood test came back as follows:

A1 B positive

I phoned the lab and explained my predicament and they are kindly going to check my blood group again under a microscope to check for the B antigens.  The man I spoke to stated that the disappearing B clumping only happens in rare circumstances.  I really don't know what this means.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I'm really confused about all this...am I A positive or AB positive or A positive with weak B (does that exist???!).

Also, I put A positive in my SWAMI so this is now time locked.  Can this be changed once I have a definite result?

I'm sure there are lots of clever people here who might be able to work out what is going on.

Thanks a lot for your help!

UK blood typing?
Might want to check with Tom Greenfield he is an ND from the UK. Maybe he will show up.

Would not be the first time we thought we or someone was one blood type and they turned out to be another.

Looks like you are an AB positive--

Since you had things double-checked with a lab (which means the test was read by somebody who knew what they were doing) it looks like you're an AB. If your mom was an A, then your biological father had to have been an AB or a B. The most likely explanation is that your Dad didn't know his blood type properly or your mom remembered it wrong (or was told wrong.)

You can contact DPN customer service to un-lock the blood type field. You're not the first person to have mis-typed their blood at first. The point of the time-lock feature is to keep people from re-using the same SWAMI software for more than one person. They  gladly un-lock any field if you ask.

In a recent post addressing a similar issue, it was suggested that if the father was typed while in the military, it may very well have been mis-typed.  If your father was in the military, and there were no other incidences of his type being checked for transfusion or giving blood, etc., you might want to just assume that O is incorrect.
A lot of people I speak to assume they are type O simply because it's so common.

My advice is to just wait for Tom Greenfield (or one of the other practitioners) at Nature-Cure to get back to you.

Nature-Cure will know what to do in this situation. They are ND and Osteopaths most of us on the forums are not doctors.   Dr. Greenfield of Nature-Cure wrote the introduction to the GenoType diet book.

As Ruthie noted above it is easy to have the fields unlocked when you know the correct value to insert.

Hi everybody, thanks a lot for your comments.  I spoke with Dr Greenfield again today (I'm so embarrassed because I didn't realize he wrote the Introduction to The Genotype Diet!).  He's arranged to have my blood checked again and I'll know for sure on Friday afternoon.  I think you're right Andrea; it's pretty likely that my blood type is AB positive.  It's quite freaky but exciting to be a little bit different.  The best news is that I managed to find out that my late father is B positive so that's reassuring...I'd already begun teasing my mother about dangerous liaisons with the milkman!

My best friend is AB. It's also the rarest blood type. Glad you figured out what you are.

Hi! My dad was an AB+ and my mom was an A+. Both me and my sister are A's.

That's too true ABJoe - thank you

Just waiting for Bob in the US to alter my blood group to AB on my SWAMI.  It feels like forever...I have no idea what Genotype I will come out as.  Looking forward to getting started and going food shopping!
