Tuna is a superfood for me, and I love tuna fish from a can (using my own homemade compliant Mayo) But my can of Albacore tuna fish just says Albacore Tuna on the ingredients label. It doesn't specify Yellowfin, Bluefin, or anything like that. So I am wondering, if I have to buy only canned tunafish that specifies YellowFin Tuna in order to be 100% compliant? Or is my albacore tunafish in the can just as good? I hope I don't have to buy fresh tuna! I can get my hands on wild caught or pole caught albacore tunafish in a can, so that's not a problem. |

The 'light tuna is usually blue fin or skipjack, which is the smaller fish, lower mercury content... I believe the albacore 'white tuna is from the larger fish, containing more mercury.. so as far as canned tuna goes choosing the light variety is healthier. I have yellowfin as a beneficial for me, yet I only see that in sushi restaurants, im wondering myself if that comes in can varieties. |

Well the albacore we get here( in DK) is smaller fish and in the test they did last year none of the albacore was high in mercury-while several of the cheaper skipjacks had too much mercury. So much that they said that women and babies shuldn´t eat them I prefer always to buy MSC tuna - and it happens to be albacore |

I guess I'll have to look into the tuna again, thanks for the info, Henriette. And C-sharp, I have seen that brand at whole foods, now that you mention it, I think I shyed away because it was more expensive, but after gaining this new knowledge, I am going to purchase it, can't wait to try. Thanks all |

Trader Joe's has canned yellowfin - in the yellow can packed in olive oil, if that helps |

Yep. TJ's yellowfin tuna in oil is pretty good. Had some for lunch today. |
