I recently completed swami and received a report identifying me as a gatherer 40%--secretor status unknown. I was a bit surprised, having expected to be GT1--Hunter. No big deal; this is swami. It is individualized.

I received a narrative style report, including relevant references to DNA and ethnic heritage, pertaining to Gatherer characteristics.

However, after a few days, I checked again, and was identified as a Hunter, with a notation that while I had ID'd myself as a Gatherer (I had not!) and that swami views me as a Hunter. The resulting new diet had a few significant changes. --I am not stressing over squirrel meat being changed to a black dot, but cheeses/dairy changed a lot.

What triggered the swami change, as I had not added info?
At this point, I ran it a couple of times, for different variables, such as tendons visible, or not. I recalculated my jaw angle. I remain a Hunter with a "Hunterly" diet.  That's OK, maybe even more appealing, but it makes me less confident about swami.

Why is there not a new narrative explaining the historic GT1 perspective?  All I can find is new diet lists and menu planning.  Helpful, but I would like to see a whole detailed report.

Sorry for the long-winded question, but I feel confused about how to best use swami.

The strangest little things can change your GT%. When I entered a Meyers-Briggs score my GT3 % changed. When I entered the NatGeo genograpic results the mitochondrial entrance changed my %, but when I entered my y-chrom, the % returned to what it had been...
I guess all those questions are asked for a reason... however it may relate to SWAMI needs that I don't understand - but appreciate!

As far as I am aware the comment about you choosing  your own genotype only comes up if you have actually clicked on gatherer as your geno type and not if the program decides one for you it is possible that you ticked gatherer in the section choose geno type by accident

All of those things are used in determining GenoType in SWAMI. They may change a persons GenoType label, not just the percentage.

Some factors will increase the percentage other will decrease. As you have noted.

Hunters are tall or medium (usually), muscular, and can be perfect, underweight or very thin. My son is a Hunter. He's skinny, 5'10" and has a hard time gaining weight.  Hunters were thin, and muscular for running after that prey.   and running from preditors.

Thanks for the feedback.

Funny that there is no category about brain fog or other neuro function. Perhaps I did check Gatherer the first time I submitted stats, as I had concluded that I met GT2 criteria based on my own measurements. But I really think that I decided to let swami identify the genotype. Oh well.

I do look more like a prototypical Hunter, sort of tall, slim  and angular, andric.   I seem to have better luck than some women my age with keeping my weight down-- 5'6", 122 lbs. I need exercise of some sort most days, but not always rigorous.

Really, I would not have made a great Hunter. Too clumsy, poor eye-hand coordination, and I do not like meat or poultry.

if you checked gatherer the first time...that explains it then

make sure you have all boxes unclicked when you run your swami again, so it doesn t compute by default

SWAMI is 100% individualised and combines BTD with GTD. So, don't sweat over your 'label' - it is just that so we can chat to each other here and other folks know 'where you are coming from'

In reality, your genotype should be called 'Too clumsy, poor eye-hand coordination, and I do not like meat or poultry- Prunella'

OK. I will just uncheck everything and start fresh. Not sure why I want to see the whole Hunter narrative, but it might lend a helpful  perspective.

In truth, I was hoping not to be so Huntery due to my dislike of meat.   My naturopath has been telling me to eat meat for years, based on a traditional Chinese medicine perspective. In my former life, I was The Queen of Bread and Cheese. I quit the wheat and dairy some time ago.  It helps, but swami adds a new dimension.

Yvonneb, good call on the genotype!
I suppose I am having a small identity crisis.

My Swami % changes a little each time I nudge the weight and waist/hip measurements.

Question: My swami only gives a single ercentage reading. Like 37% warrior. It would be interesting to see others, to see wha the other geno's influences are. How is it that some folks have these multiple readings?

Each time you get SWAMI, it will compute a percentage of whichever genotype it gives as your "genotype superfamily." Some people are "on the border"  between 2 or 3 different genotypes, and subtle changes in data will change their genotype label (although the food lists usually don't change all that dramatically.) Those individuals may post what percentage they were of each genotype, at different times they ran SWAMI.

SWAMI will not give you a percentage of a genotype it doesn't think you are. SWAMI pro (the kind you get when a health professional runs it for you) doesn't even include that information.
