I remember an old thread where someone had mentioned getting their probiaotics from the food they ate. I did a search and couldn't find it. I know you can get probiotics from yogurt - which I do not care for in any form. Does anyone know of other food sources for probiotics? I am vegan and would perfer to get my probiotics from my food than a pill. I am also eargly awaiting the updates - I hope they are out soon |

Hi VeganWarrior, Here are a couple of links to threads that might be of help: By the way, the posting by ruthiegirl in the latter link contains a separate link to an excellent reference website by Sandor Katz on making your own fermented foods (his first book and website are always go-to resources for me if I have a question about live food fermentation). Too, I think there is a posting in the thread to which the former link (above) directs which contains a post from ruthiegirl describing how to make 'beet kvass.' It's a good probiotic drink you can make at home, and good for your blood. Actually, I'll crosspost this thread because here's the recipe ... |

Applegate farms sells a probiotic cheese. It's sold pre-sliced and tastes great; a nice mild flavor. We buy it with the "case discount" which is less per package than buying individual packages. |

I was going to suggest searching for "culture" or "cultured" or "fermented" rather than "probiotic" but it looks like Conor beat me to it.
I've been lazy with the fermented foods/drinks lately, but I have a fresh batch of beet kvass brewing right now. I put some raw ginger in there with the raw beets; I'll let you know how it comes out. |
