I haven't been consuming much fruits lately, i tend to buy a larger fruit that can last a few days at a time since it seems to be more economical. With my swami i'm only aloud 1/2 cup of fruit daily (for weight loss) and i don't buy too many small fruits because they seem to cost more when you buy them that way. Like i bought a 4LB. bag of frozen organic peaches for i think between $4-$5.00, if i was going to go to say WF's and buy just one organic peach it would probably cost a dollar.
To get to my question: i had a fruit smoothie for the first time in months today and it made me feel amazing like i could feel my whole body coming alive. I stopped making them because store bought rice milk has avoids and i tried making it but it didn't work out to well (alot of work for little product). I'm wondering if having the avoid rice milk in a fruit smoothie with all other ingredients mostly being diamond or superfoods is a good idea?. At least if it helps me eat fruit and i can get alot of other good things in it to, like B.S. Molasses, flaxseed, cocoa, etc...
Thanks! Mickey |

I know what I would do with the extra fruit in the economy size....I would just cut it up and freeze it and take some out each day to make fruit smoothies. If you can eat bananas, they can take the place of any milks by adding a creaminess, I just use a little water to make it blend. I never had any luck making my own rice or almond milk either. And if you can't have banana I have seen people put avocado in smoothies to make them creamy if you can have avocados.
And if you can't have bananas or avocados perhaps there are nuts you can eat and you could add a spoonful of some kind of nut butter and some water to your smoothie to make it creamy? |

There are usually ways around any avoids... I've used water with some nut butter to make a milk consistency or water and some cooked rice in the blender with the rest of the smoothy ingredients...
You have to be careful with avoid additives as many of them increase inflammation or cause increased effect from other avoids... |

In the beginning of following Dr. D's programs, I used to do what you are talking about, Mickey, just for convenience. It didn't kill me but I have to say that until I eliminated all avoids, I never was able to realize the real power in this way of eating. I would make my own rice milk if that was one of the ingredients that I wanted in my smoothie. Developing new systems is the time consuming part. Once you get some routines and new foods in place, it becomes easy and so fulfilling. |

You need to decide how compliant you're willing to be. Consuming a tiny amount of avoid oils in the rice milk may be better than not eating enough fruit. But have you tried making smoothies with water instead of any kind of milk? |

Thanks for all your replies!!!
You have definitely opened my eyes to your ideas!. Like using avocado's for creaminess (Kibble), mixing water and almond butter or cooked rice (ABJoe), or just using plain old water (Ruthie). |
