As a newbie to the SWAMI diet, I am finding that in trying to follow the amounts and frequency guidelines, there are many days it just isn't enough to satisfy my appetite (I am not overweight by any means!). I should mention I've taken the 30 day suggested menu plan for Type A's in Cook Right 4 Your Type; modifying the food choices to fit my SWAMI. I've recently developed arthritis and am hopeful that the personalized SWAMI diet will correct this problem. HOWEVER, my concern is that if I go over the guidelines on frequency or quantity to satisfy my appetite, will one or the other (or BOTH!) have an adverse effect on my arthritis symptoms? Does anyone have a clue?? I sure would appreciate any insight. Thanks!

stick to swami and those frequency guidelines......get all those veggies suggested to you, on a daily basis....you won t go hungry, mark my word!! haha

I selected the option for those who want to gain weight and it increased my food without adding on any weight. I really was looking to gain some weight but have come to accept my weight must be normal for me since I have always been thin.
Out of curiousity, you could see what this option does to your food values. It might direct you to the categories of foods you could increase.

INCREASE SUPER Diamond Benficials. and it will not matter.. along with Beneficials, ... leaving off carbs that make you hungry.

Oh, Lola. how I wish that was true for me! I struggle to keep my portions under control; even with eating all my reccomended veggies, and many days more than the reccomended veggies, I still have trouble feeling full and satisfied.
Rattabone- as long as you're getting in the minimum amounts of everything, going over the reccomended portions on some foods shouldn't affect your pain levels or how you heal. It may interfere with weight loss, but it shouldn't cause you any major problems (unless you're eating so much more of one food group that your whole diet goes out of balance.) It's certainly fine to eat more leafy veggies.

To ChrissyA and Wholefoodie: I tried increasing my activity level and it didn't change ANYTHING.
I'm taking Lola's advise to make sure I'm maxing my allowed amounts on everything, particularly Live Foods catagory. If and when that does not suffice, Goldie's advise is for me! I should have no more reason to complain.

It seems to me that Gatherers struggle so much more with this than the other types do. A couple of gatherers that I'm close to have such a hard time shutting off the impulse to eat and I never could understand it until Dr. D wrote the genotype book and explained how it is a biological program.

I am starting to notice, is my protein intake is higher and the oil is higher, with the intake of lower carbohydrates vegetables (even the whole five cups) I feel full through the day, unless I have my fruit serving first, even waiting 30 minutes to eat other foods, even with having 6 walnut halves with the fruit. Yes, I'm a gatherer. So I started having half a fruit serving, for my snacks. We'll see what happens now.
