My Natropath says there is 3 things everybody needs to supplement their diet with:
Omega 3 Fish Oil Probitotics MultiVitamin
I eat Wild Sockeye salmon everyday (swammi- diamond). On my Swammixpress, Salmon oil is black dot. Anchovy Fish is an avoid. The Omega 3 Fish Oil I take come from Anchovy.
Questions: 1)Should I stop taking the Omega 3 oil from anchovy?
I noticed that the Nomads Synergist is Flaxseed oil( swammi- diamond)), unlike some of the other genotypes which are fish oil.
2)Should I replace the fish oil with Flaxseed oil or is there something special about omega 3 from fish? |

Not everyone can get enough omega 3 from flax oil, but Nomads are appropriate for it! Stick with your wild salmon and take your Nomad Synergist. A great combo!! |

That sounds right!
I'm still interested to know about the anchovy fish oil, if it would be an avoid... |

IMO, supplemental fish oil is a way to get enough omega 3's if you're not eating enough omega 3's in your regular diet. It's good for those who don't eat enough fish, or who have added need of omega 3 oils because their diets were poor in the past, even if they eat enough fish (or other sources of omega 3) in their diets now.
I don't think it's a good idea to take "avoid" or "black dot" oils as supplements. I personally don't take fish oil supplements, but I do eat plenty of fatty fish. I do give fish oils to my children because IMO they don't eat enough fish. I selected oils that are neutral or better for them personally (DD1 takes capsules with 2-3 kinds of fish oil, all OK on her SWAMI, and DS takes cod liver oil, neutral for Bs and diamond for Nomads and full of nutrients he's shown signs of needing.) I wish I could get DD2 to take the same fish oil as her sister, but she won't. |

Anchovy oil is not on my SWAMI but anchovies are toxin. I have chosen to not take any fish oils from fish that aren't on my list. But I do take a cod liver oil capsule every day. How does it rate on your SWAMI? I eat wild salmon 5 times a week and freshly ground flax seeds every day. I don't take supplemental flax oil because I feel that I'm getting enough of it all right now. |

Are anchovies avoid really because of itself or even its oil? I have thought that canned anchovies are an avoid because of much salt, maybe some vinegar and other possible additives, too... (that's why I haven't eaten them) |

Projecting reasons for ratings can be a difficult exercise at best. Sardines are commonly canned with bad oils or vinegar, the rating is based on the fish and it is up to you to be sure that there are no avoids added. |

My daughter's SWAMI gives her anchovies as a neutral. If she were to eat anvovies, I would be certain to purchase a variety without added "avoids" such as soybean oil or vinegar. If I found some in olive oil, or just its own oil, plus salt, that would be an appropriate food for her to eat. IMO, the high sodium content would mean that anchovies should be consumed in tiny quantities; a condiment rather than a protein source. The saltiness would NOT be a reason to avoid the food.
DD1 hates the taste of fish, so I'm not going to spend any time or energy looking for a compliant canned anchovy for her. However, it's perfectly appropriate to give her fish oil capsules that contain anchovy oil, since I know anchovies are fine for her. I won't take those capsules myself because anchovies are an avoid for me. Without a separte rating for anchovy oil, I'm assuming that the oil and the fish share a rating. |
