As I recall, the update is only for the SWAMI purchased individually? If you received your SWAMI from Dr. D or Dr. Nash in CT, that software is already the newer version? Is that correct?

Assuming that your SWAMI GenoType was done relatively recently-Yes
If you had SWAMI GenoType done by a practitioner before February, 24, 2011, you can follow the linkage in your SWAMI printout to access the updated Meal Planner.
If you had SWAMI GenoType done by a practitioner before November 30, 2009, it most likely does not include the version 3 core update, although I am not sure the exact date Dr. Dadamo and Dr. Nash transitioned since they probably tested the core changes before it was released to other practitioners.
I think there may be something I am missing out on here. I have had my SWAMI tweaked by my naturopath for various things like candida overgrowth but is there somewhere on this site that I should be checking for regular updates?
I keep discovering areas to this website that I never knew existed.

If you had a SWAMI done by a practitioner, you will need to return to the practitioner for any updates.
Ratings of food have changed very little, so unless you have changes to your health status, it is probably not worth paying to have it redone.
Also the upcoming release does not affect the software that practitioners use.
Yeah, it will just show up one day in the place of the older version.
Yes.
Well, what are they!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, anticipation is good for us, I guess. Hehehe
But I do want to say this in big, bold, black letters. Thank you for not upcharging us for an update. In a world where every time you turn around, an item you use, or company you deal with, etc, is trying to ring more money out of the small pockets of us all. Well, we all have different sized pockets but it just seems like most of us normal ole working people get the shaft every time we turn around. I suppose some of it is our own fault for choosing to deal with certain people, yet some of it is required. The government and insurance are just a few to note. Anyways, I just wanted to send some appreciation your way for being fair. It may just help me buy some more stuff from your company.

I'm not sure where to put this thought, but I was just thinking that it would be really cool if you could have a way to turn off foods that are not available to you or that you would not be eating for some other reason.
I don't eat most fish for example, but SWAMI has 4 servings a week. It is rare that I have fish at all. I'm ok with taking krill oil or fish oil.
Could the software then recalculate my other proteins? Certainly, I can do that myself. I haven't been real compliant lately anyway, but getting ready to do some serious meal planning.
Or if I couldn't get something that would be beneficial, if there was another food with similar qualities that it might even change it's ranking. Sometimes have trouble sourcing foods.
Just wondering. Satisfied with what it is. Love it.

Hi! I don't think you would be able to substitute fish with something with similar qualities. Yes, you could eat omega 3 rich seeds etc but then you'd throw off the balance of protein with nuts and so on.
Try to find fish that you would eat. Fresh tuna is different to canned. Sardines are different to whiting.
A lot of people don't like fish for different reasons. Maybe I can help you there...
If you don't like the fishy taste: try fresh cod- very little fish taste, put a sauce on it you like, it will be like chicken. If you don't like the texture: try fresh tuna- it's more like steak than fish. If you don't like the bones: try cod & salmon- their bones are really big and very easily removed even prior to cooking, just run your fingers over the fish and use tweezers/ pliers to pull them out. And try tuna or (if allowed) shark- they have only one centre spine bone like a steak, just eat around it. If you find it hard to cook: Steam it wrapped in tin foil. It won't burn and you'll see the flesh falling part when its done- nice and juicy!
Sometimes a different method of eating fish works too! I love cold fish in a green salad : )
Fish is sooo good for you I hope you'll persevere in finding a way of getting it into you : )

Ok, I appreciate the input. I didn't mean to create a fish discussion. Dr. N was ok with me not eating fish. Just simply thinking it would be nice if you could turn certain foods off as factors in SWAMI (Pro). Some foods too, may be completely unavailable to some. Fish was probably not the best example.

Fish wasn't the best example because it's a whole food category.
There are plenty of superfoods and diamonds on my SWAMI that I can't get locally, can't find in kosher form, or are simply too expensive. So I choose other foods from the same category. I eat a lot of (beneficial) beef because it's readily available and far cheaper than (diamond) lamb. But I still aim for 5 servings of red meat per week.
There's a whole page of fish for me to choose from, most of which I've never even tasted. The only fish I eat regularly are salmon (neutral) tuna (beneficial) and sardines (diamond.)

As AKArtlover brought up this, i really wish too if the "supplements" page has even more on the list... like creatine, tribulus, glutamine, Maca, horny goat, St johns wort etc.. like all the herbs and stuff that are over the counter, i just think it will be a great feature and would make life easy for many.

It's a great idea, but think about how many different supplements exist - the range needed to satisfy everyone on the diet would be insane.
i mean atleast start with the OK to take and AVOIDS. not like recommended dosages and beneficials and diamonds and all tht.. just to save time instead of researching the forums and stuff before buying a supplement..

If you buy SWAMI Xpress now you will be automatically updated to SWAMI 2, when it is released.
So there is no need to wait until it is released.
On whether there is more than one type of SWAMI software:
There is SWAMI Xpress. This is product designed for consumer use. It is sold with a single use license. This is the product that you want.
There is also SWAMI GenoType. This is a product designed to be used by health professionals. It requires training and certification to run. It is sold in blocks of ten licenses (The assumption is you would use it on a number of patients.).

SWAMI Xpress is sold with a personal use license. It is sold to be used by one person. For a family of 3 you would need three licenses.
Generally (but not always) children use the Blood Type Diet, rather than a SWAMI diet.
This is because some the measurements that SWAMI uses to calculate a diet, are changing. So it is hard to make a reliable determination of data for use in SWAMI.
SWAMI does lock fields to make sure that you do not attempt to switch values and use the same license for multiple people.
Hello! Yes, one typing kit will suffice. The secretor tests would be useful also. I will purchase one in September. Non-secretors are a bit more challenged that the secretors in their health; I'm following the non-secretor diet at the moment as it can only improve my health and if I am a secretor, then I'll get to put a few things back into my diet which I would like to have back! From what I see on the posts here, several people elect to follow the diet as secretors until they find out otherwise.
I found it more useful to use a magnifying glass to see my fingerprints, less messy, but you have to have pretty good ridges and know what you are looking for.

I'm following my Swami recommendations but still wonder why it lists bell peppers as a superfood for me even though I did answer positively for arthritic changes. Any thoughts on this? I have always been under the impression that Bell Peppers are in the nightshade family & should be avoided if arthritis is an issue.
my thought are AVOID!! My swami said the same thing and I ate them often and ended up with solanine toxicity, still battling the effects. I avoid ALL nightshades now. Your choice though...
Mother...thanks for your thoughts. Sometimes Dr. D sees some things differently than others and I'd like to hear what his thoughts are on me eating bell peppers. I tend to go with his thoughts simply because so many times he has very valid reasons for his recommendations. Dr. D...please weigh in here. Thanks.
Rex, I use bell peppers now according to Swami neutral, whereas I used to have the same idea as you that all nightshades are the pits, from previous food lists. However, I have absolutely no problem with arthritis now which I used to have a bit, and I relish the bright colours, especially the red, and eat about one large pepper per week.

Hi All
I've been away for a while (ages really) and it's time to get back on track now that I've gotten married and want to start a family.....
I know the new SWAMI is being released at the end of Summer in the US. Am I right in saying that's the end of Winter in Australia (mind you I don't think winter is ever going to end in Perth.... I can't remember it ever being so blinking cold - not that I'm complaining.... we need the rain)....

"End of the summer" in CT (where Dr D lives) would be late August/ early September.
It sounds like, if you buy a SWAMI before the update, it will be automatically updated when the new version becomes available. There's no reason to wait to get your SWAMI done- even if you buy it a day too soon, you'll still get the updates.
It also doesn't sound like the updates will change your old SWAMI all that much, so it's not like you'll get used to your SWAMI and then suddenly it will change. There might be some more foods added (without changing values of the foods already listed.) The format might change a bit.

Jenny...thanks for your reply about the bell peppers. Since I rely solely on Dr. D's guidance I pretty much dismiss conflicting advice from other so-called nutritional experts.
C_Sharp I can't get to my swami, I have had my computer restored, and think this may be the reason, I can enter number, name and password, and get e mail from them, go back to it when I click on the e-mail and I only get the same thing again. I'm confused, I know I did this before. Do I need to call someone?

I think there have been little changes, but there is a bigger change coming, I believe.

That was me. I tweaked my swami by ticking for joint problems so I don't know if that was the reason. I'm going to go play with it again and see if unticking it makes apples an avoid again. I need to re-run swami for April anyway.
Editing to add: I re-ran swami both with "joint problems" ticked and with it unticked, and either way apple is neutral. It used to be an avoid.
