Hello!

Vegetable protein allowances for me are 9 tablespoons per week.

Not sure how to convert actual nuts into tablespoons -

I am also wondering where to categorize almond and soy milks:
Are they beverages, vegetable proteins, or both?

Thanks!

each has their category, no matter if it is milk or plain

milk is tricky, always look for sources without additives and such

They Type Indexer doesn't help me here.

I make my own almond milk from organic raw almonds.  And WestSoy products are the purest I've found - no additives.

In the GTD book, under Vegetable Protein, it shows portion size as Nuts, seeds: 1/2 cup; nut butters: 2 T.  Frequency is 7-10 times weekly.

Without any other guidance, I would either cut the portion in half and have 9 portions or leave the portions the same and cut the freq. so you get close...

Almond milk is listed under Beverages, so I would use that portion/frequency information as a guide for it.

Many thanks, ABJoe!
Good to know those milks are beverages.

ALONG THOSE lines ..

do you all adhere to the specific ounces advised in any of the books??

Do you all eat ALL the foods listed in any of the books??

what is a ratio between some foods and other foods

why are ratios so important? ??

do they have to be combined or can I eat meat and veg for real meals and in beteen the nuts and fruit??

I use the specific ounces as guidelines or targets to shoot for...  I don't necessarily adhere to that as per meal or per day, but per week on average...  With the health issues I have been dealing with, sometimes the body has very different needs for short periods...

No, I don't eat all of the foods in any of the books.  I do eat from all of the categories, though.

A ratio is simply a rate equation.  For instance, for every serving of meat eaten, I eat 3 servings of vegetables is a ratio.  Food ratios are pre-determined by the portion size and frequency put forward in the books, so if you follow those, you will be getting what you need in the right amounts - except for individuality.  SWAMI helps you with the individuality part...

Since some of the food values are rated per week, I would assume that however you get the servings in per week is fine.  Remember, it is a personal choice to follow the diet, and how closely you adhere to the guidelines.  Additional stress from making it too difficult will not be healthy either.
