Hi,

When I was following BTD, Oat was neutral and I was eating Rice Milk and Oat in breakfast. Now with GTD, SWAMI listed Oat & Oat Meal etc in avoid. Wheat & Corn Cereal and Soya Milk were already in the avoid list. Now my healthy breakfast menu is running out of the healthy items. As Soya Milk was already replaced with Rice Milk.

Please suggest me the replacement for Oat Meal with some healthy food.

Thanks.

Type O's generally do best with a high protein breakfast and using the evening meal as the high carb meal.

Most of the O's on this Forum have meat, fish or eggs as the base of breakfast.  Eating breakfast like most people eat supper seem to be the O's motto.

A few O's put together a high protein smoothie as an alternative.

A transitional breakfast from grains to animal protein could be a vegetable protein meal to start the day off well nourished. I have an all in one bean and vegetable loaf recipe, but it requires a bit of kitchen work and baking. On the other hand, it can be made ahead and frozen in slices if needed.

1 1/2 cup cooked chickpeas (or any compliant beans)
1/2 cup cooked peas
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 tsp curry powder
3 tbsp olive oil (or any compliant oil)
2 cup baked sweet potatoes
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions

1. Saute the chickpeas, peas, onions, curry powder in the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat
for 5 minutes.
2. Blend the mixure in a food processor or blender till soft, or mash with a fork
3. Combine the sweet potatoes, cinnamon in another bowl, mashing with a fork until soft.
4. Place the chickpea mixture in a greased 4-cup loaf pan, spreading it out evenly. Spread the sweet
potato mixture over it.
5. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 40
minutes, then let it cool before turning it out.

There's all kinds of good stuff to eat for breakfast!!!!!

Eggs, fruit, soup, meat, another grain.  I eat an egg and some fruit every morning lately.  I fry mine in coconut oil.  Mmmmmm...

I did soup for a long time.  Then I felt I needed some protein because I'd get the jitters before lunch.  So then I went to yoghurt or some kind of dairy and fruit. That worked well for a while.  Now, too much dairy is no good, so I do the egg and fruit.  Maybe next it'll be back to soup.  I don't know.

But grains in the AM for me are not good.  Everyone is different, but you've kind of put yourself in a box with thinking you need a grain.

I'd go for the protein if I was you.  Since you're an O.  If it has to be grain, can you do brown rice?  Quinoa?  Millet?  I'm probably missing some others.  Barley?  I don't know.

Sounds really good - I may give it a try - usually have grapefruit, boiled egg and rice cakes for breakfast - very English!
