I've been following the Ruthiegirl (secretor) Swami since Wednesday afternoon, not counting eating leftovers I cooked before then (especially if those leftovers contained black dots, not avoids.)

I've also been taking long walks (of about 2 miles each) for the past 4  days in a row. Friday with DS, Saturday with DD1, on Sunday with both DDs, and today with DD2.

I've  been following the SWAMI food lists since Wednesday, but it  wasn't until Friday that I took the time to look at the frequencies and recomended quantities. It seems that I've been eating WAY too much food prior to this- I was doing well with limiting my fruits and grains, but I was eating way too much fat and protein. Between that and not exercising is likely why I'm 40 lbs overweight.

I'm trying really hard to stick to the food quantities, even when I'm still hungry. I know it's enough food for me, and that it won't hurt me to eat less, but it's hard for me to not just "trust my  gut" with food quantities. I suspect that, within a week or two, I'll adapt to the new way of eating and it will "feel right", but until then I'm going to have to count food portions and do this intelectually rather than instinctively.

Don't be afraid to use good greens to fill up a bit more if you are hungry.

Oh, I've been doing that too! I'm not restricting my vegetables at all, but I'm reminding myself not to over-do on the protein foods. Also, there are times at night when I'm hungry  but I just can't stomach the thought of veggies, especially not raw veggies. I've been saving my daily fruit servings for before bed when I get those carby cravings.

I have heard that the stomach is the size of an orange... It can obviously stretch to accommodate the amount of food we put in it but once it gets fed less & shrinks back, having got used to less in it, you start to feel full again with less... All the best - sounds like you're doing great!!

Juicing or making a smoothie with greens can help curb the appetite because of the dense nutrition and high water content. I tried this and it worked for me
