Hi again everyone and Happy New Year!

I've got a question about being a taster vs a super taster. I take a thyroid medication each morning for a diagnosis of low thyroid. In the morning, when my thyroid in my body is low...I'm a light taster. In the evening...when the medication is fully in my bloodstream....I'm a super taster! This one change in my SWAMI changes me from Explorer Super Taster to Teacher Light Taster...with kinda similar but obviously mostly different food lists.

My fun teens tell me to just do a taster strip before I eat...and depending on the results choose which list to cook from lol...they just like to watch my face squench up!

Any suggestions?

Kristi

My problem Lola...is that during on the time of day...the foods on either list can make me really miserable...while at other times of the day they are totally fine. I've taken months and months to explore this...confused at first what was causing the discrepancy...and I think I finally have landed on the cause...but not a solution that so far works for my finicky body.

Thanks for your input!

Kristi

swami might help reset, and you might need less and less of your TM.....

That is an interesting one.  I would think that if your thyroid is working at it's best, that's what you are.  Hmmmm......

Depending on the type of thyroid meds, it shouldn't be like that.  If it's synthroid, levoxyl, any of the T4s, it takes about 6 weeks for it to get out of your system.  If it's Armour or any of the other T3 meds, that's a different story and it can vary throughout the day.  I take some of each.  Haven't tried the taster strips yet though.  I'll have to try and report back.
If you are taking a T3 med., some thyroid docs recommend split doses to keep the levels from fluctuating so much.

Yes Jane...it's a T3 med...which is getting harder and harder to come by these days... and the T4's make me feel awful. I'd love it if getting my body back in balance would support my thyroid health...and not be concerned if the FDA is gonna take away what works for me.

My solution...can't believe I didn't think of it before...is to take the two lists...which are kinda similar...and make one list of what is good to eat on both lists only...until my body balances...and go from there.

Kristi, You may have helped me understand why one time the taster strip was bitter and another time only slightly.  The naturopath told me my thyroid is sluggish, but I'm not on medication. I was rather puzzled, now I think this might make sense.  I am type A and running the test with slight taster made me a Teacher and as super taster Explorer.  I also have had other health issues with gall bladder/liver. I'm toying with trying the Explorer diet for a while.  Be interested to hear what you decide.

Gluten/Casein and Yeast sensitivity.

If you get SWAMI done by a professional, SWAMI GenoType allows one to indicate that a client is taking thyroid hormones. SWAMI then adjusts the diet accordingly. This feature is not available in SWAMI Xpress.

Hi Lin!
I too have had lots of liver and gall bladder issues...am environmentally sensitive when they are not happy...and my personality traits really align with Explorer. My body really likes the Explorer supplements...where the Teachers supps made me feel ill. It's just the various foods on the Explorer list that are fine for me sometimes and not at other times that was throwing me for a loop. I'm excited to try the combined Teacher/Explorer list I'm creating...if it's not good to eat on both lists...it becomes an avoid.

Thanks C-Sharp for recommending getting the professional SWAMI instead of Xpress! Great idea!

Cheers!

I don't know anyone near me who does the SWAMI.  That's pretty sad.
