Hi, I am new here and want to find out my secretor status and blood group via the blood tests.  Do I need to fast to get those blood tests? or can I go to the lab in the middle of the day after normal eating and drinking?

Sorry, I forgot to mention I am in Australia, Qld, I read QML labs can do that, but, all I need to know is if it is necessary to do the tests while fasting, or not?  If not, I can arrange to have it done now, otherwise I will have to do it tomorrow morning.  It is important because I am also thinking of flying to Las Vegas tomorrow morning, well before the blood labs open, so I may have to postpone the flight.  It is imperative I do that before I leave ...

QMLs labs
go to your local doctor and ask him to request a Lewis blood
test and also MN, and Serotypings.

Yes, it looks like I have to do that, it is just that these tests are not readily available here and get the feeling you may know more about it than the doctors around ozland.

You don't need to fast for secretor test or to have your blood type tested.  (Not sure about subtype testing though).    At least, here in Canada.

I rang QML and they assured me no fasting required for any of the grouping tests.  So all is well.  Thanks all for your help.  I guess I will get this done today ..

will you be doing the blood test, called serotyping?

ask them for your MN, RH as well as secretor status, besides your blood type
