I took the Genotype test myself using the book and came up with a strong GT5 Warrior and the GT3 Teacher running second.  Took the Swami Xpress test and was computed as a GT3 Teacher.  

OK!  This could be the answer I've been looking for.  Since going on the diet for the GT5 Warrior I have gained ten lbs,   , which by the way, I was blaming on my Hypothyroid condition.  Maybe it wasn't that after all.  Anyhow, I'll try the GT3 Teacher diet and see what happens.  

It just seemed like the GT5 Warrior diet was right for me because I am Lactose Intolerant and I don't digest meats very well.  The older I get I find that red meat constipates me and cause extreme lethargy.  And all those fresh fruits and veggies were right down my alley.  I haven't had time to research the GT3 Teacher diet yet, but from what I could see it didn't appear to be too drastically different from the GT5 Warrior diet.

Has anyone else experienced weight gain on the diet?  I'm really interested in knowing if anyone has experienced this.  It is my hope that by finding the proper diet I might be able to help regulate my thyroid conditon with the foods I eat.

I am not lactose intolerant and I am a Warrior.

I did a SWAMI on a lactose intolerant Teacher, so they do exist. His cheese list was very small.

Gut bacteria out of whack in my opinion.

The Teacher cheese is very specific, it is not all dairy only certain dairy.

Che your SWAMI teacher list may be a lot closer to the Warrior diet than the Teacher diet presented in the book.

I had some difficulties with the standard GenoType diets I tried (including warrior). But my SWAMI teacher diet has worked really well for me.  My cheese list that I can eat is much shorter than the book diet.

I haven't really looked at the Warrior diet, but as a somewhat lactose intolerant Teacher, I haven't had any problems with the Teacher diet. If I over-indulge on dairy, I'm sure it will kick in; but as long as I eat dairy in moderation (i.e., within the Teacher limits -- 4-6 servings per week, or less), there are no problems.

I don't eat red meat as a Teacher -- either there are no neutrals listed, or the ones they have are not available in my area. But I haven't been eating much poultry (only available one for me is Turkey) or fish, either. Mostly, I eat fruits, veggies, rice, peanut butter, lentils, and cheese. Obviously, some variation, but not a lot (because most of the varieties of food are too exotic for my area).

I've lost 15 lb in the past month, though, without increasing my exercise much. So I'm not complaining!

Che, the drastic difference from the Warrior diet to the Teacher diet is the cheeses
which help heal the gut...Warrior dairy is miniscule...Teacher dairy choices are plentiful...but if you have any gut issues, you might want to do a SWAMI.

I intitally measured wrong and followed the Warrior diet for 18 months.   I didn't gain weight...I didn't lose any either...I didn't feel particularly healthy and did start to
develop a lot of anxiety and irritability.  I suspect I was missing important nutrients.
Also, I was taking the wrong Genotype supplements and eating a few toxins for
a Teacher....like a lot of mussels which are good for Warriors, but toxins for me as
a Teacher.

I did a SWAMI in July...Now on the Teacher diet with some lamb and chicken livers (I hadn't eaten any meat in 35 years or more), I'm feeling so much better.  Lost some
weight pretty easily.

Still trying to tolerate dairy a little better....Eating it every 4th day just to make sure I
don't start reacting negatively to it.

I'm a Warrior, genotyped by Dr. D himself and I have some issues..like lemons, and too much soy interferes with my thyroid now..I have to stick to my servings. I'm not lactose intolerant but too much cheese and my weight goes up. The allowed paneer, cottage cheese and yogurt are about all I can tolerate. If I start indulging too much on my black dot cheeses, the weight goes up. So, I'd say it's easier to keep my weight down on the Warrior diet. If I was following the Teacher diet, I'd gain weight for sure.

There is a field in SWAMI to specify if you are "Lactose Intolerant" or not. Can specify this for any GenoType. Checking it does not eliminate all dairy, but dairy foods are rated lower.

I gain a lot of muscle when I get my bacteria in line and actually get to use the carbohydrates I eat. You can call it weight if you want. The warrior diet (and explorer) make me lose muscle like crazy because of the bacteria issue.

I do not know what Swami Xpress will make me, but with the Teacher diet I keep on losing weight and centimetres and feeling fantastic.  Like some other teachers here, I do not eat any red meats or poultry.  I eat fish about 3 times a week.  I mainly eat my diamond grains, almond butter nuts and chemichally free dried fruit (currants, dates, goji), and my berries and kiwi and pawpaws.  I do eat the teachers cheeses, but mainly as accompaniment grated over dinner rice or pasta. I do love havarti cheese (diamond) and it is the only cheese that occasionally will eat on its own at lunch or quick snack.  My vegies is an area I have to remind myself to eat, there are a lot on my list that I cannot get here, but I do eat the punkins, rutagabas (sweedes), the rocket (arugula), carrots, beets, zuccini.  Onion and garlic feature everyday in my diet.  Drink coffee every day (and most of my life I avoided it thinking it was not good for me), I started with cappuccino style with a serving of my own home made soya milk and some honey, but lately I have been enjoying the short black without any sweetness.  I usually accompany my coffee with a slice or two of homemade flaxseed bred with almond butter.  I occacionaly drink fruit juices, but mostly I drink lots of water, sometimes over 2 litres a day plus the allowed herbal teas, although lately, on someone 's adviced here), I have added Nettle tea, which I think it is a neutral for teachers.  As you can see, I concentrate mainly on my super foods.  There are some food, like peanuts or peanut butter that for some reason I hardly touch.  Peanuts, I do not fancy at all, but peanut butter, I think I had it a couple of times since I started this.  It is OK though, but I enjoy the rest of the stuff more.  Eggs as such, I have maybe twice a week or less, although the flaxseed bread  recipe has 5 eggs in it, so I suppose I am still portion compliant with the eggs.

I eat no supplements, at least until I get my Swami Xpress, hopefully in the next 2 or 3 days, depending how long the post takes from NZ to me (it was posted yesterday).  I am then planning to be not only 100% compliant with whatever meal plans Swamis throw at me, but also, respect serving sizes and frequencies, which at the moment have been to my own liking and instinct only.

I forgot to mention that I do have tofu as well, about a cake of tofu a week between DH and I.

I'm glad to see that you all had success with your diets. I'm looking forward to getting started on the Teacher diet and have faith I will lose weight.

I eat cheese and dairy in moderation as it does mess up my stomach.  We keep Soy Milk and Yogurt in the fridge and I find that I can tolerate Mozzarella Cheese if I don't indulge.  I don't know yet if that's allowed on the Teacher diet.   I also avoid most supplements and all vitamins like the plague!  I can't keep them down, they make me horribly sick.  I don't know which ones yet, but some supplements and certain foods turn my tongue black.  I am obviously allergic to them so I try to stay away from what I feel are the culprits.

No mozarella on the teacher's diet.  It is an AVOID, toxins, not to touch, at least until you go to some more personalised version of the diet under Swami or Swami Xpress, then you may or may not get it back.  But in the standard GT Teacher diet, according to the book, I do not touch Mozarella.  There are plenty of other diamond cheeses to enjoy on this GT, so I am not complaining ...

Thanks! But I'll save my bragging when I get another 20 gone. (That's my pre-pregnancy weight; and is still 30 [obese] BMI.) Or another 50 (which will then be 25 [overweight] BMI). However, I don't think BMI is really that great a tool to determine health. At least, not for me. Maybe it's because I'm more muscular than others, but my lowest weight as an adult (after being on a vegan mostly-raw diet and exercising 2-3x per day) was in the range of 150lb (it's been 12 years, so I forget -- it may have been a little lower or higher), and I was easily wearing size 10 jeans, and even some size 8 stuff. But my BMI would have been 25. Size 8 is "overweight"? I don't think so.

I know. I don't feel that way either. But that darn scale says otherwise! As someone said, "Facts are stubborn things."   {shrug}

I don't worry too much about it -- I think more about the way the clothes fit than what the scale says, esp. since I know I'm more "compact" with my weight than many others are.

But, there *are* clothes in my closet that I cannot wear, that I used to be able to wear when I got married, and I want to be able to wear them again. So, that's what I'm looking for, right now. If I keep on slimming down after that, it'll be a huge bonus!

Btw, has anyone seen Kate Harding's BMI project? Most of the "underweight" pictures looked downright anorexic; the "normal" looked thin; the "overweight" looked normal or a tad chunky; while the "obese" looked... on the hefty side. But few of the pictures seemed to match the BMI description.
