I recently found out my father is blood type 0-positive, and my daughter is O-negative.

Does this make me A+>O ?

I don't see a place in SWAMI to enter this detail. Is it not important?

I do not understand what A+>O means.

If you are an A and your daughter is an O. Your genotype is Ao.

If you are Rh+ and your daughter is Rh-. You have one Rh+ allele (dominant and expressed) and an Rh- allele (recessive and not expressed).

knowing your secretor status and subtype A1 or A2, as well as MN status would be more relevant ......in my point of view....

SWAMI considers what is expressed. The genes that are not expressed (the recessive traits) in your body are not important (not quite true but close enough).

The dominant traits are what are expressed in your body and affect your appearance, metabolism, ...

I've had a similar question where both my parents are O+ and I am A+...all four of my children are O+...their father being O+.

My mom, a retired RN, calls me a "genetic throwback" lol....gee thanks mom!

Doesn't work that way. O is always recessive. A and B are always codominant, hence the AB blood group. A and O, ABO genotype, will always be A because A is always dominant to O. B and O, ABO genotype, will always be B because B is always dominant to O.

BTW, the Dominant allele is always written first. AO or BO.

Then all you need to know is that you are blood type A.

You can safely ignore all the information about AA and Ao, it has no bearing on any of the diets.

If both your parents are an O, you are an O.     Better re-test. You're following the wrong diet.

lol....I've had the lab test my blood type...AND...did 3 home blood tests...all show A+.

My mom, a retired nurse is for sure O...and my dad, who has passed, was also an O.... I have his military card and his hospital records as well...AND... I look just like my dads son, my half brother.  

I'd LOVE to be an O like all of my children...would make meals in our GT/SWAMI house sooooo much easier!!!

Well maybe one of your parents is not your real parent. Perhaps you and your brother have a different parent. I guess that could be a shock but... if it is physically impossible for you to be Type A then I am not sure what else to think.

that A individual must be an Ao.

that A individual must be an Ao.

If a blood type A individual has a B parent

Since you are blood type A with an O parent you must be Ao.

We also know you must be Ao since you would not have a type O child if you were AA.

The Father of your O child must be blood type O (genotype of all Os is oo)

Military records if they include blood type are frequently wrong. That is the reason why hospital blood banks will not accept just any documentation as proof of blood type. And thank goodness they don't. Blood type must be verified by a properly collected blood sample and proof positive identification from the patient. If you are absolutely sure of your's and your mother's blood type then your father would have to be either an A or an AB in order for you to have inherited an A blood group gene. Otherwise, there is some incorrect information regarding your parents blood types.

Good thread.. Since i think many people labor under these incorrect assumptions...
