I don't really understand why SWAMI calls me "Receptor" type since I have 5 autoimmune conditions. |

I got back Yogurt, Avocado, White mushrooms, Squash, Blueberries, Strawberries and Watermelon (yum) as Superfoods Yay I got black tea as an avoid -- which supports my reaction to it. I don't see "Additives" on my SWAMI food list. I lost coffee, which isn't going to happen in reality. I only drink 2 cups a day, and without it I feel awful. I don't really understand why it gave me all that soy if I have a thyroid condition. Seems like it would know soy can be bad for the thyroid. And I'm glad I don't have to avoid Whole Wheat and White Rice. |

You are an A.. so soy is good food in many respects, anti inflammatory, anti carcinogenic, it has cardiovascular benefits, keeps genes methylated anti aging. One man's food is another man's poison. |

Soy increases my goiter and tiredness, so I think I'm going to have to stay away from all but the highly-fermented types -- per the usual suggestions on thyroid treatment -- in spite of those benefits. |

I would think if you have FIVE autoimmune conditions, all wheat would be off limits and a very strict adhereance to BTD, GTD, or SWAMI would be in order. |

SWAMI gave me Whole Grain, Bulgar, Puffed, Sprouted, Spelt, Kammer and Emmer Wheat as Superfoods.
Wheat, White flour and Gluten are Neutral.
I do plan as strict an adherence to SWAMI as I can manage on our budget. |

so your GT does not change in any way if you happened to be a non secretor? |

once you decide it s time to find out your secretor status, only, don t forget certain boxes lock .....
there s no rush, find out your secretor status first, or check the strength test on the back of your book, if being a nonnie, changes your GT according to your measurements. |

I tried choosing both Secretor and Non-Secretor in SWAMI, then running the result -- the field didn't lock either time and I was able to change it back to the default.
SWAMI gave me the same Warrior genotype for both. |

Cool! Did you think the field would lock if I chose one or the other w/o really knowing the answer? Good thing it didn't, but for posterity's sake -- if I run SWAMI on someone and accidentally lock a field incorrectly -- can Dr. D. unlock it manually?
I also wonder if I enter one or the other Scretor status, would it change my Food Lists accordingly? I didn't really look at those before changing it back to the default. |

Some 'unchangeable' fields, such as blood type, will 'lock' an hour after the initial form is completed. This stops someone from using one license to run diets on all their friends and family members.
Having had to do that, I also feel that everyone else should have the ability to further develop their SWAMI intake data as their bodies and/or health histories evolve. So I left a lot of the intake form unlocked. These unlocked parts let you continue to add additional or new data, then print out a fresh diet appropriate for those new circumstances.
an hour is plenty of time to get those locked fields right! |

you might want to reconsider your stance on the coffee and that on the soy appropriate not only to your condition, according to swami, but also, according to your unique physiology and genetics. what you have read or heard from your Drs., on soy doesn t apply to all.... |

I've heard that separating when you take your dosage of medication from the time you eat soy (by a couple of hours?) is important, and thus that avoiding it 100% with thyroid problems may not be necessary. I don't have that problem, so I can't speak from experience. I guess certain veggies can suppress thyroid function if they are raw but can be fine if they are cooked. |

Welcome to the growing Swami group!
You may find that after adherence to Your new food list that your Autoimmune isssues:
become more manageable
become less sensitive to your consuming unfermented Soya
become more sensitive to your consuming some other food
Swami is about food combinations; especially the Geno Harmonics section. This is a gold mine!
Potentially, you can eat two neutral foods that have the equvalent of a diamond! |

Secretor status is not a time locked field.
Even though a "nonsecretor" setting leaves you a "warrior" GenoType, it could change the ratings of foods.
(neutral grains might become avoids)
It also could affect frequency and portion sizes of some types of foods. For instance, nonsecretors might get more meat and poultry servings.
Sometimes very few changes occur when changing secretor status in SWAMI and sometimes there are substantial changes.
Incidentally for myself I find that changing my secretor status can move me from teacher to warrior. If the secretor status is the only thing I change although my GenoType changes, my food lists and number of servings have very few changes. This will not be true for everyone. |

Yeh! Glad the SWAMI matched your calculations. You're a warrior!! Keep battling. I bet you're a non-secretor, which will probably put wheat out and may bring tomato back for you (not that you like nightshades though obviously). Want a side-bet Mayflowers, or do you agree? |

I consider knowing your secretor status to be not only important but to determine GT and food status.......it does represent an important trait when in search of a personalized diet fit to your needs! |

I checked my food lists using "secretor" and "non-secretor" -- Non-secretor gave me 2 red meat superfoods, changed sugar (brown & white) from neutral to avoid, and did change some of my grains from superfoods to avoids, including some of the soy items. Secretor foodlists stays the same as not choosing the field at all - no red meats, lots of wheat and soy superfoods, sugars as neutral. It set my Warrior percentage lower than Non-secretor did. |
