According to my SWAMI report, Pecorino cheese is a neutral for me and Romano cheese a black dot avoid. Here in Germany and in the UK, one can often find a cheese called Pecorino Romano in the shops. It can be used just like Parmesan, but is made out of sheep milk. Would that be a neutral Pecorino or a black dot avoid Romano? I would assume it's neutral. Does anyone know for sure?

I am treating pecorino romano as 'pecorino' for myself, am in the same boat.

For what it's worth, I noticed some time ago that parmesan bothered me more than romano and that pecorino romano did not bother me at all. Very unscientific but there you go!

I've had the same experience as Lloyd--parmesan causes problems, romano sort of causes problems, but pecorino romano doesn't bother me at all. A little more anecdotal evidence, if you're interested

Haven't done SWAMI but I'm an O and eat Pecorino Romano about once a week and it has never bothered me at all.  My FIL gets entire huge wheels of it imported from Italy and it's wonderful.

pecorino means sheep......so any cheese named pecorino would most probably be made out of sheep s milk

and the romano alone might be made of cow s milk.....
like parmesan



my swami has manchego and romano as black dots....
yet pecorino as a toxin......

wonder if the allowed romano is the sheep s milk kind as is the true manchego........why would pecorino be a toxin then?

I was wondering if Pecorino cheese encompass ALL sheep's milk cheeses or are they in a certain style (on the hard side). I know that I used to stick with sheep's milk cheeses when I was eating the A diet and found that very helpful. I bought a Pecorino cheese not long ago and it was simillar in texture to Manchego. Do you think we need to stick with the Pecorinos that say "Pecorino" in the name or can we pick any/all sheep's milk cheeses (eg, softer/creamier ones).

The more cheese the better--but to a limit, I guess. I don't want to feel lousy.

Manchego is so great. I have a good friend from Spain, so like to enjoy Spanish foods and wines when we get together.

I d stick to the aged hard cheeses with pecorino in the name....

Yes But, pecorino and romano just became diamonds for me     and manchego a neutral so I'm celebrating the idea. I love cheese so much    I get emotional. There's a special gourmet shop in Tel Aviv... Or did you mean something else..
