What about tongkat ali?

Tongkat Ali is not included in any of the lists, I think this is primarily because in the US Tongkat Ali is only used as supplement and not as a food item.

Where can I find the Nigella (charnushka/kalonji)? Does TJ or WF have them?

TJ & WF I don't know, but Penzeys has it.  They call it charnushka, and it is indeed peppery.

I assume that the dried rosehips from the bulk bin in the HFS use the value for "rosehip tea" in the "Beverages" section of SWAMI.

The food to be added to SWAMI list and the survey is still 'active'

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MXCNCMP

Active in the sense that you can add items to it.

There never was any commitment from Dr. D'Adamo to add items on the list to SWAMI.

The list itself should contain no discussion.

Food items only belong in the list.

Discussion occurs in this thread.

---

Another reminder to folks (This is not in regards to the coconut sugar addition) -- We only need a food items added to the list once.

To express support of items already on the list. Use the survey or comment about the items in this thread.

Newbie here - I would like to know about:

purple potatoes
matcha
wasabi
sweetie, also called oro blanco

As long as the purple potato is the same as the standard white potato with a different color skin, it will have the same rating as Potato, White w/ skin.

I use the horseradish rating for wasabi.

While probably not perfect, since Oro Blanco (sweetie) is a cross between Pummelo and Grapefruit, I would use the lower rating of the two for the rating until there is a specific rating for it...

Sun Beh Nim,

thank you for your answer. I'll use your recommendations. The purple potato flesh is actually deep purple. The skin is kind of brown, like a baking potato.

Is anyone listening here? and is anyone even trying to work on this?  i

If no: could  we expand knowledge by testing it in some way on our own bodies???

Find a way to communicate on each item by BTD specific findings??

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

I started the SWAMI list thread, the discussion of SWAMI list thread, and SWAMI survey threads.  Because I was interested.  There was never any commitment from Dr. D'Adamo or DNP to expand the SWAMI food list.

If we are interested in BTD specific findings instead of SWAMI ratings, we may want to use a BTD thread so as to not exclude those that do not have SWAMI.

There are some threads related to adding BTD food ratings.  Such as: http://www.dadamo.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-typebase/m-1179923933/s-new/

Other threads related to BTD ratings are in the Eat Right and Typebase forums and may be better depending on the nature of the discussion..

Try a small amount, then a little more, etc., monitoring each time to see if there is any reaction...

Apologies if these have been mentioned already:

Xanthan Gum
Lychees
Cacao Powder
Maca Powder

Lychees use Litchi Nuts under vegetable protein

Xanthan gum not exact but you will get an idea of what your rating would be looking at your rating for guar gum, mastic gum, and Acacia

Cacao Powder use chocolate - the rating for chocolate in SWAMI is not for chocolate bars in the grocery store.  Instead it appears to be for this powder in the USDA Nutrient database:

http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/fo.....owder%2C+unsweetened

Maca does not have a good equivalent. Assume neutral and see how you react to this food.
