Hello, I'm still contemplating buying SwamiExpress and have another question:

Would it be helpful to buy the genotype testing kit as well as SwamiExpress?

Because I used the advanced calculator tables in the genotype book, I didn't bother with the prop taster thing or any of the other strength tests. I wonder if there are any vital strength tests in the genotype testing kit that I need in order to enter info into Swami?

You will be asked PROP status.

You can leave it blank.

You will be asked Cranial measurements. I did not find the kit helped here.

You will be asked about carbelli cusp and incisor shoveling. Nothing in kit helps determine those.

You be asked about jaw angle. Protractor in kit does help, but is not essential.

You will be asked fingerprint patterns (required and become time locked several hours after first entry) You can do fingerprints without the kit, but I find the ink in the kit works better than a regular stamp pad to get the prints.  Other people might think this is silly, but the prints created with the kit are easier to read. This means I do not have to take them several times. I have been thinking about using the kits when I GenoType clients instead of a stamp pad (even though I think using kits is wasteful). I even gave up with one client and used the kit after failing a number of times to read prints made with a stamp pad.

You can certainly do SWAMI without the kit. It may be slightly easier with the kit.

With the exception of fingerprints, most measurements can be left blank. You get better SWAMI results the more information you provide.

Entries that are left blank can be entered later and you can regenerate the diet report reflecting the added information.

The most valuable optional information to provide to increase the accuracy of SWAMI results is secretor status.  So I recommend that those who have not yet tested secretor status do that.

Personally, I can never have too much data to make a correct determination on genotyping.  The fingerprinting thing in the kit didn't work too well for me, very smelly and messy, so I did it another way.  The other stuff was useful.

And yes, I'm probably like you, cindyt, it's great to have as much knowledge about ourselves as possible when trying to determine best diet.
