Hi,

Having wavered across the many diets available (BTD, ER4YT, Genotype, Swami), I've decided to give it an honest go with Swami... including the 2 servings of grain a day (seems high) and 4 weekly servings of meat (seems low).  

I really want to try this out 100%, including portion sizes and # of servings of cheese, nuts, etc. per week.  Beneficial and neutral foods ok, but no black dot.

Does anyone want to do this with me?  I could start today or tomorrow (Monday), since everything I've eaten today has been legit.  People who have already been doing Swami can join this, too... call it a 28-day-intensive or something.  

Okay, I'm going to study my pdf!

Awesome!  I just put the almond milk on the shelf and bought some parmesan cheese and beans.    Starting tomorrow?

Great, how did Monday go?

I did okay with the rice and some beans in addition to salmon, fruits, and veggies.  I had some belly aches from all the fiber, but I think my body will adjust.

I'm considering doing nut butter (tahini) in place of beans to meet the rest of my veg. protein requirement.

Also, I'm not sure that parmesan is for me.  I was thinking of substituting my cheese req for ghee.  

In the meantime, my goal is to drink more water and eat whole fruits instead of juice.

My Monday went well.  

I made up a weekly portion check off sheet and kept that for the last two days so that I stay compliant to the portions.  The portion of poultry is cut way down for me and can see that I will be eating more legumes.  This along with more diamond lettuce options is more in line with how my family ate, so it all feels very comfortable.  

Also I am trying to really concentrate on the genoharmonic foods because the one SWAMI choose for me is Cellular detox and I know I need that big time.  

I am very encouraged so far!

Reading through the SWAMI Explorer - there are quite a few typos in the description and I will have to re-read through and post them so they can be fixed.

Good to hear!  I do a weekly check-off list, too.  My general guideline is:  first meet my daily requirements (fruit, veg, grain), then the lower limits for my weekly requirements, and then I can have treats like chocolate, wine, tea with agave, or juice.  

Tonight, I'm going to buy some tahini to replace my beans.  The combination of adding grains back in and eating a lot of beans has been too much fiber/bulk for me.  I'm thinking that nut butter might be gentler.  

I'll also get turkey, since I've already met my fish requirement and am tired of beef.  Once I have more time, I'm going to start experimenting with recipes.

You could just use the plan from the Genotype book in the meantime.  In my experience, Swami has been less restrictive than the GTD, so I think for many people, it has been an easy switch.  My favorite thing about Swami is the exact recommendations for portion sizes and frequencies.

Any updates here?  I've been fine other than some crumbled bacon on a salad that I didn't entirely avoid.  It's best not to eat out at all, I know.  I basically live out of my car, commuting all day.  I guess I should just keep a fully-stocked cooler in my trunk.

Gina at the Auckland shop is going to tell me when the Swami is available in the southern hemisphere (not yet). If you want to talk to a Naturopath in Sydney who is connected with this way of eating, look him up in the list of professionals on this site (Jason Mallia).

Things are going great here.  I'm losing weight while eating over 2,000k a day!  I was gaining weight on 1800 before.  I seem to be gaining muscle.  I feel good and my energy is great.

This is basically all I've been eating:  canned salmon, beef strips, turkey breast, beets, artichoke hearts, mango juice, blueberries, red onions, fresh spinach, brown rice, olive oil, hard boiled eggs, red wine, and tahini. Only 13 items, but the food is so good I don't want anything else!  Not now, anyway.  I'll probably get bored with this in a few days.

Yay!  I'm glad I stuck with the rice.  I was dubious.

Thanks Lola and C-Sharp. I somehow lost my post and just found it. I have emailed Gina from Chancery to see if they have the Swami software available. Still waiting for her reply. I have been waiting somethime for the software to be available. Really can't wait to get it. Just hope it adds instead of cuts down on my food list.

I started my SWAMI on August 1st, and lost some weight right off the bat (5-6 pounds in a week).  I'm sure a lot of that was just detoxing, moving things along with the extra fiber, and losing some water weight, but that's all good to do.  Granted, I wasn't being totally compliant to any form of the diet before that. I stopped eating anything after dinner, which eliminated the majority of my cheating ways. I've also been focusing on veggies galore...so many that I hardly have room for the other food groups.

Today was the first day that I cheated a bit, but just a bit, so it's totally recoverable.

I love having some black dots added back in for me (I get tomatoes, sweet potatoes, bananas and avocados back, also sesame oil and sesame seeds). I gave up some neutrals, like mozzarella and apples, but salsa is much more flavorful!  Mine came out very much O-nonsecretor, which totally makes sense because it totally works for me...I thought I'd have to have it tweaked in that direction, but it just knew.

I've been exercising almost every day, and that helps in dealing with stress without stress-eating.  Even though exercise makes me more hungry, it works out for the best as long as I fill up on vegetables and superfods.


Type O+ blogger, secretor afterall. Gluten intolerant. With two gluten intolerant sons:  A+ Secretor 10 yo (also fructose intolerant and slightly egg allergic), and  O- 7yo.

Wow, I haven't been keeping a close eye on this thread!

I spent a week on vacation with my parents and a week scrambling to get ready for teaching this semester.  I have definitely NOT been 100%, but I've stayed away from what I call the Fickle Four: wheat, corn, dairy, and potatoes.  My biggest difficulty has been dressings and sauces, since I have been eating out a lot.

I'll do 1 more mediocre-following day tomorrow (i.e., eating lunch out) and then get serious again on Thursday.

My weight has stayed the same, which is a whole lot better than gaining!  But, I can tell I"m in need of some detoxing.  For one, my acne is back... sure sign.

How are others doing??

I started following my SWAMI on July 21 and have been 100% compliant except for one tiny piece of cake on my husband's birthday.

I have not had any cravings at all so sticking to my foods has been really easy. Getting in all the veggies has been the biggest challenge. Its just too much food   I've also added turkey to my previously vegetarian diet, I still don't really care for it but think it is doing me some good. No red meats or fish yet, but maybe someday....

I started my workout routine back up on July 23 and have managed to keep it up so far. About six years ago I was in great shape and doing strength and aerobic exercise six days a week. Then I started to solwly gain weight and lose energy no matter how I modified my diet and exercise routine. I tried yoga after reading LRfYT thinking maybe I was pushing myself too hard. I didn't keep it up and pretty much just quit exercising alltogether. So far I have plenty of energy and it feels great to really work my muscles and sweat  

I don't know if I have lost any weight yet (no scale) but I have lost an inch from all my measurements so something is changing. I also have a lot more energy, I don't need a nap everyday to function. My skin looks great too, nice and clear. No more heartburn either   . I feel much much better.

I saw this thread early on just didn't post at the beginning.  I started my SWAMI diet on 07/27/2009.  I feel great. I have lost about 6 pounds and my skin also looks really good.  I am eating mostly chicken, fish, beef and lots of vegetables. Some fruit but not as much as I used to.  I thought coffee would be the hardest, but for some reason I feel great without out it. I didn't even have withdrawals.

So far I would say the SWAMI is a great success!!

Let's say I stared midday today! (had rye toast for Brk...an avoid on swami)
But I shopped and should be good to go...starting for real, tues.
Today I did well but exceeded my fruit allowance. I'm excite about my swami GTD-BTD hybrid!

That's great!  It's so fun to see people's posts.  I've been very busy - too busy to check here most days - but I've been very compliant.  I'm eating a lot of salads, nuts, and dried fruit.  I was struggling with the starch requirements, but that hasn't been a problem lately.  I'd like to do the liver cleanse at some point, though.  I'm not exercising as much as I usually do, and I know I could use some general system flushing.

Can't wait to hear more about people's experiences.

OK, this morning I had a ground flaxseed and amaranth flr. pancake with farmer's cheese and agave, with green tea and yerba mate (1 bag of each). That's my swami!!!
but what I need is a spreadsheet to check off amounts throughout the week. Hmmm, I don't know from spreadsheets, but may try to make one up.
