I've only been following BTD/ GTD for the past 9 days. I began this journey in hope of reversing the allergies, asthma, hypersensitivity & inflammation that I've dealt with for years. Well, today I went for my 6 mo. cleaning & check-up and although I use a Sonicare toothbrush, floss & rinse twice daily with Listerine (as per my hygienist) I always have issues with my gums bleeding when I have my cleanings done. Today, my hygienist told me my gum tissue "looks great!" and I had next to no bleeding so I didn't require a laser treatment! Woo hoo! A+ at the dentist & I can't wait to see what other improvements happen over the next weeks & months!

Thanks, Lola! I haven't done the secretor testing yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm a nonnie, all the attributes fit. I'll hopefully have a chance to get it done w/in the next month & then refine my diet even more.
Thanks, Balletomane!

Why areu using toothpaste? Its full of chemicals that irritate your gums. Use virgin coconut oil instead, add some bicarb of soda and thats all you need. Any dentist will tell you toothpaste just adds flouride(which is toxic anyway) and a flavour to mask breath. I stopped usinh toothpaste a while ago, my teeth amd gums look so much better and healthier. Its the brushing that counts not the toothpaste...and use a soft brush..thlse etectric ones damage the enamel.

Even though I wasn't on the BTD, I was eating similarly to it (a coincidence on my part doing research to help me with my conditions) and found that eating this way got rid of an tarter, my teeth whitened and my gingivitis cleared. I was always lectured at the dentist and my last visit was short, blood free and no trace of gingivitis. Wow. My husband always had good visits and I would get the "you have to floss more, you need to be a better brusher, you will need surgery, etc". I still use toothpaste but I think I will switch to recommended suggestions. Oh yeah, I do oil pulling with coconut oil every so often as it's a natural whitener for me.
My Sonicare toothbrush is actually really soft. I've always used soft brushes, but if I use a manual toothbrush, I press too hard... that's led to lots of gum recession for me. (apparently, I am an exuberant brusher!) Otherwise, my teeth are pretty strong, my gums just act up because I tend to get inflammation easily. (I know that comes as a shock! lol!) I used to use the natural toothpastes, minus the fluoride, perhaps it's time to go back to them.

Is coconut oil okay for O's? Even though we're not "consuming" it, I'm sure some of it seeps in to our systems.
