I finally had this surgery on Monday. Upon opening my eyes in recovery it was immediately apparent I could breathe through my nose and smell for the first time in a year! I am so thankful I waited to find the right physician for me to perform this less invasive way to help correct my sinus issues. (As opposed to the doctor that wanted to cut/remove/have me spray steroids up my nose for the rest of my life.)
I saw my ENT/Sinus specialist yesterday and I am healing very quickly. He said he had not ever seen so many polyps or suctioned out so much junk! One surgical nurse told me the team couldn't believe the monitor....I was a mess!
Prior to surgery I know I was nervous but my insides shook uncontrollably as my teeth chattered. The pre-op nurse gave me a warm blanket but I wasn't cold. They asked if I was diabetic because I complained of nausea. After looking over my records they commented on how perfect my bloodwork was. The three people in the room all said they wish their numbers were as good as mine and two were much younger than me.
Well, of course I touted the BTD!!!!! Its the reason I am otherwise healthy and meds free!
The best part is my ENT knows I follow it, understands that gluten affects me and is going to work with me to keep the environmental allergy triggers in check.
I am so appreciative of every breath I take!

So happy to hear you can finally breathe, cajun.    WIshing you the best health and a speedy recovery.

I think you were just scared....I've had that teeth chattering thing happen to me before too when I
was overwhelmed with fear.  I'm sure you're glad this is over....and you can finally get back to
your life...eating well, and now breathing well!

Diane,
Thanks! Please tell your husband that the sooner he takes care of it the better! I cannot stress enough the importance of the right ENT/Sinus specialist....for him!

I had a surgery date set last November with a different ENT who wanted to cut out everything ( I found out through questioning ) and told me I would need to inhale steroids through my nose daily for the rest of my life! Uh, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In retrospect, this doctor had other red flags that I should have picked up on.
Thank goodness I made a question list, did some research, and contacted an ENT friend in Atlanta who steered me onto the correct path!

I also informed the new physician about my following the BTD. He agreed that diet surely affects my sinus situation ( A's have the thickest blood, profuse mucous, trouble with cow dairy, etc.) and is willing to work with me regarding this. ( After a 3 month test I know I do not tolerate wheat gluten well....almost immediate gagging mucous/coughing after eating wheat )

I wish your husband well! It is soooooooo great to breathe through my nose and smell everything again!
