I just read Steve's story. How wonderful that he was able to improve all those symptoms with diet! Not that I'm surprized. I am about to go out for a picnic lunch with my friend who has "Wegeners granulomotosis", also an autoimmune disease. She WAS on the BTD, but not strictly, when she came down with this illness. She has since not continued with the BTD, and has been threough a very rough time.(is still on dialysis after one year) I do not feel comfortable by saying "you should go back to the BTD", but of course I would not word it in this way, but she does not want to go there, when I have hinted. She is also not interested in this forum, or in exploriong more about diet and diease.I have concluded that she has chosen her path, and that all I can do is provide support when needed, but this is hard, to watch her go through this. |

See the thing that bothers me about this is: was it what he wasn't eating or one or some of the things he was eating? You see I know most people are compassionate, and killing of any kind for any reason repulses most everybody. So does vilifying a Veg Diet, excuse some peoples reasoning for (you know what I'm gonna say)? |

It never ceases to amaze me when people don't try harder when they have so much to lose. Good luck to your friend & maybe she will come around, my close friend did she has RA & her doctor reduced her meds drastically. |

I owe a great thank you to Steve because he is the person who taught me about Dr. D'Adamo's blood type diet. I went to a public talk that Steve was giving regularly in my home town. His presentation was intelligent, well-organized and very 'human'. He typed my blood for me and gave me a list of the foods for my blood type. The rest is history! |

|Vegan Joe, I do understand you, but do not agree! I have come to appreciate and envy those who can hunt and kill their own meat. I do not do this, but would like to. There is something very basic, very satisfying, about seeing the entire process through, and this is for us meat eaters of course. I always LOVED my vegetarian diet, and was convinced I'd never give it up. It's a good thing I did give it up, I feel a lot better now. I do not like meat from plastic trays. My view is, if you are going to eat meat, it is ideal if you can get it from a healthy source, and this includes hunting the animal as well. |

Hi Everybody, The article was written by my wife Sharon and myself early in 2011. I wasn't sure when (or if) it would be published. It came out in June while we were on holiday in Europe and I've been in catch-up mode for the last three weeks that we've been back. Quite honestly, I had not gotten around to notifying Peter about it yet (It was on my list of things to do, really . I've literally been swallowed by parenthood. The online time that I now spend not related to my work is mostly related to some aspect of parenting or an adventure that parenting has made possible. I'm stunned and amazed that the article was found (it's buried on the Pemphigus web site). I still haven't gotten around to notifying my friends and family that it's there. Thank you to Victoria for the phone call yesterday letting me know it was uncovered and making blood type news. I haven't been around this forum in the last 4-5 years. I'll check in once a day or so for the next few weeks if anybody has any questions they'd like to ask me first person. Peter: I just sent an e-mail to Ann informing her that you-all can reprint the article. I also have a printed copy of the newsletter for you. Send me a mailing address and I'll get it in the mail. best wishes, Steve |

Steve I search for this stuff almost daily, I was glad to find it. When I saw the date I was surprised I thought I had found an old article but how wonderful that it was current. You are an inspiration and we link to your journey regarding veganism to the O diet almost once a month. |

Yes, hi there, Steve! We go so far back that it was actually you who informed me that "fructose" on an ingredient label almost always means CORN sugar/syrup. Seems so basic to me now! Sounds like you are doing very well indeed. Enjoy the sacred experience of parenthood and stop by here once in a while to stay in touch with us all! |

Hi RedLilac, I'm sorry, but it's not realistic that I can do so. I use my computer at home very seldom and the only time I can recreation-ally cruise the net while I'm working is when I'm eating, which makes typing awkward. There are lots of other people who have a wealth of knowledge to share and the time to do so. I am not an expert or originator of information, but merely an echo of information found elsewhere. I've asked Ann to move this thread to the testimonials page, where it more properly belongs. I am also going to write some additional material for my article that appeared on the Pemphigus.org website that better explains what Pemphigus is, to be published in Dr. D'Adamo's newsletter. I'll be happy to address any specific questions addressed to me (rather than have rumors about me and "maybes" such as "Vegan Joe's" comments gain substance). be well, steve |

My only real question is: can one be sure it was only the lack of animal proteins, or was it just the wrong plants? i.e. grains, legumes, avoids, etc.. My thought is that this question cannot be successfully answered, as all of Dr. D\'s diet recommendations were incorporated at approximately the same time, in your case. |

No amount of evidence will change the mind of someone who is invested in something that is contrary. Usually the level of proof required to change one's mind is much greater than that originally needed to come to the original conclusion. How that applies to you, Steve, your best friend's Aunt Sally or anything else is something that you will have to determine for yourself. |

You\'re assuming that all are ignorant and can\'t change, by claiming \"no amount of evidence\", and it still doesn\'t address a valid question. who\'s answer is clouded in a combination of effects. I\'m not into rejecting truth so long as it\'s clear and apparent. The answer to my question is clouded, so why would someone jump to conclusions. |

Um, Hi Vegan Joe, A couple of points: 1) It is impossible to itemize 12 years of experiences in a few paragraphs. I've filled in a few more details below. 2) to address your real question: I believe that it was both - a lack of animal protein and the wrong plants. I could be wrong, but whether I am right or wrong is moot: I'm not really sure of anything. I have no agenda other than my desire to participate in my son's childhood and live long enough to see him grow up. How anybody else chooses to select the foods they eat has little impact on me other than causing my insurance rates to increase. This is not a topic for debate. This is what happened to me. =============================================================================== Additional backgroundI started the blood type diet as a raw food vegan, including making my own sprouted wheat and sprouted wheat flour. Then, to the best of my recollection, I started incorporating cooked vegan foods. This process involved several months, to the best of my recollection (not all at once). In the pemphigus article, I never mentioned my reason for my raw food/vegan/vegetarianism: Most of it was for health reasons, some ethical, and some environmental. As I noticed the improvement I mentioned, I decided that Dr. D'Adamo's theories were more applicable to my health than vegetarian/vegan theories. I therefore decided to incorporate meat into my diet. My first taste was 1/8 of a pound of ground organic beef. At the time I consumed it, I was convinced that my body would reject it (per vegetarian thought at the time). In the 12 years since, I have several times attempted to live as a type O vegetarian. None of the attempts were successful - they all resulted in lack of stamina, sore throats, headaches, tummy aches and general malaise. be well, steve |

Not at all. It clearly was not addressed to answer a specific question, nor does it assert that anyone is ignorant or incapable of change. I have previously posted here about disconfirmation bias. If you never suffer from it, then by all means disregard what I said. |

Ruth, Steve goes a long way, and currently has other obligations, thus the reason he comes in sporadically
I was lucky to meet him in person 2003 during the very first IFHI certification
He had a ppp presentation about his illness and development following BTD |
