Since starting the BTD, I switched to GTD in a week and became 100% compliant.

Not only have I made changes in the way I eat,
  • I only use stainless steel and cast iron pots to cook in (got rid of most plastics and actually resurrected the pretty glass containers I had laying around - fun to use and healthier, too

  • I made changes in terms of how I take care of my body - ballet workouts for now and more dancing to come!

  • I realized that avoiding toxic foods are essential for a healthy body so I applied the same concept and am avoiding toxic relationships

  • As a type B Nomad, I am supposed to be more "easygoing" but I am a double capricorn so I get overly ambitious and find MY way of doing things (probably a B characteristic, too). I learned not to take on more than I can handle and I have minimized stress as a result.

I guess I wanted to write about how BTD/GTD are not only plans to eat right and perhaps exercise for your type but it is a tool to just living a healthier, happier, and fulfilling life.

I now have more energy to dedicate on my passions and relationships. I am also learning to cherish and be grateful for the wonderful people who were supportive while I struggled to get to where I am today (I know I have not been my best while I was sick and sluggish).

It is just great for me to find more ways to make my kitchen more "eco friendly" (using flour sack towels more than paper towels), glass containers as opposed to plastic, etc. No more silicone or teflon in my kitchen.

Dry brushing is a "treat" I look forward to daily - kind of like my personal spa ritual - thanks for the recommendation!

Life is just a lot better. It does not mean my challenges have gone away but now, I feel much better about meeting those challenges head on and doing something about them.

Thank you!!! Thank you for all the wonderful comments on this board - very helpful.

Great job, PP...

It is very empowering to have a plan like Dr. D. provides.  When I started, I went from searching for a path to following a path and the mental difference between the searching and following was a great relief...

Thank you, all!

ABJoe - As a B, I am always blazing my own trail.   Dr. D's plan allowed me to do just that instead of feeling frustrated from being dragged by my schedule and incidentals in life. I am finally able to take control and choose my activities to my liking.

GTD Update

I have made more strides since I started back on eating compliantly after a hiatus. The coconut oil cleanse worked really well, too.

I notice that my nomad food list fits in very nicely with my anti-candida diet.

I know I am a true nomad or at least nomad dominant because I LOVE kefir. During my vegan years, I would have the occasional soy yogurt. When I first started the BTD/GTD, I would have a cup of Greek yogurt with fruit and honey for breakfast. I find kefir to be much more satisfying. I mixed some sweet apple cider (candida friendly since it is fermented) with my kefir and did a double fermentation. Let's say the 32 oz. (1 quart) bottle did not last more than 10 hours. I am making my second batch and hope that I have more tomorrow. Hee hee!

I am taking care of my body more. Coconut oil for hair wash (no more commercial shampoo or condition), body wash, and DRY BRUSHING - according to GTD.

I have taken up a new hobby - kefir making (both milk and water) and cooking with kefir (going to venture into kefir sourdough and cheesemaking)! I am also experimenting with kefir and brown rice sourdough. Since I am between two areas, (L.A. and the midwest), I am thinking it will be fun to make regional sourdoughs and keep them alive as long as I can.

Life has become much more natural and simpler for me. I do not miss eating out and also love how much money I am saving!

Dr. D's Deflect is amazing, too. I think I can cut out most of my other supplements and just take a few vitamins and Deflect.

Being sick has been really depressing since it took away my livelihood and I ended up becoming isolated from my peers. Yet, my nomad tendencies helped me through as my moods improved with the diet and I do not mind the "alone time".

This diet not only helped me physically but gave me insight into my mental and emotional strengths (Live Right 4 Your Type). I had be chastised at times for my "creativity" and "unconventional" problem solving skills. Dr. D's book allowed me to realize that my "creativity" and "unconventional problem solving skills" are a part of who I am. I can embrace my individuality better while enjoying my membership as a B Nomad.

I just felt like documenting what has happened so far. I look forward to waking up instead of dreading it now... because I am curious about how my future is unfolding with better health.

Lola, I have always valued your comments! The bone broth (although it is more of a neutral for me) was soo helpful during my coconut oil cleanse. Other GTD meals during the cleanse saved me. Thanks!

Yes.. Dr D makes life as a 'follower' much more interesting (and allowed).. trailblazing is good enough in a new recepy, but at least the shopping list is done from the start.  YES money saved is one big thing.. I hardly ever need a store to buy pills, or things, that once cumulative took away hundreds and then thousands, chasing doctors and supps.  I am delighted for your progress, only you can benfit from your effort, but I can 'feel' the effort you have come to make!!! Fab..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

Definitely, Goldie!

I have a new relationship with my food now. I actually enjoy the process involved in preparing fresh foods. I am going to make my own version of kefir "ice cream". Who needs commercial ice cream with nasty additives when you can make things at home?

My grocery list is a lot simpler and I just enjoy everything I am making. I have to keep myself from being too experimental with recipes, though. Bad habit of mine... I tend to get too creative at times.

Thank you for your comments and support! It has been a difficult journey thus far but BTD/GTD has become that much more valuable and rewarding because of its benefits and wonderful support from this forum!

I hear that.  I used to eat because it was necessary to stay alive.  I spent at little time and money on food and cooking as I could.  Now I enjoy cooking and eating.  It's great!

Congratulations on your life process!  It sounds like things are going really well for you, and for that, I am happy    Cooking and creativity go hand in hand.  I rarely use recipes unless I am baking.  No need to squelch your creativity in the kitchen!!!  Keep up the good work.

Thank you TJ and PattyH!

I started preparing my meals with live foods - fresh veggies, etc. Since soup stocks and such at the supermarkets have avoid chemicals, I started to make them on my own and it is not difficult, at all!

I used to be vegan and was a member of PETA. I support their ideas but they got to be a bit too militant for me (my local chapter went on a witchhunt when someone chose to eat meat or have any sort of animal products and had the FBI on their case because they were attacking people outside of malls for having fur coats, leather shoes and purses, etc.).

The Nomad diet requires that I eat some meat and fish. Ever since I started preparing all my meals from fresh ingredients, I have developed a deeper respect for nature.

I thank God for giving life to the fruits, veggies, grains, dairy, meat producing animals and fish so that their energy can sustain me. Eating "living foods" (kefir, etc.) have given me more insight about the cycle of life in nature.

We all eat something that had been alive at one point or another - whether it is meat or plants. It is funny that we do not have any plant rights activists. Nevertheless, it is about paying respect and having a sense of gratitude for what is put into your body. ...and that is my spiritual development that came with the diet.

Very well said, PP!  Cooking is a joy for me.  I am very grateful, also, to be fortunate enough to live in a country where food and water are abundant.  We must all be grateful for what is provided by the universe.

I know! So much to be grateful for...

I am toying with the idea of giving milk kefir grains to low income single mothers or families so they can make yogurt for their children. I know they can get milk with food stamps, WIC, and so on.

My grains are growing nicely and I think it would be a wonderful way to help people out.

Can anybody help with information regarding whether if you have an AB parent and an O parent, come out as an A blood type, do you have any B tendancies or does this remain dormant.

Thanks

My mother is AB and my father is O. My youngest sister and I are Bs (I am a nomad and I suspect my sister is a gatherer or explorer). I suspect my other sister is A (have seen how to reacts to certain A avoid foods, etc.).

The tendencies do not remain "dormant" even if it may be easy to assume that. The tendencies are based on blood type specific antigens. I would be described as oB (O is lowercase because that is a recessive allele). During the antigen test, I would react and come out as a B and not an O, even if I have the O allele.

The diet is based on what YOUR blood type is and not on specific alleles.

Here is a very simple explanation - I hope it helps.
