I have Crohn's disease and am blood type A. The blood type diet has helped me tremendously and I very rarely have flare ups. The diet helps so much but so do the exercise recommendations for each blood type. I hope everyone tries it! I'm medication free since doing this over a year ago. B. Holm

I started this 8 years ago (B+) and have had numerous health issues clear up within weeks: eczema = gone, heartburn = gone, irritable bowel = gone, plus stronger nails, hair and skin. I used to bruise all the time, every day; now hardly ever, once every couple months maybe. Even my nearsightedness has improved - 1.25 better in one eye.5 in the other. My husband started 1 1/2 years ago and now his hypoglycemia is managed, he instantly lost 35 lbs. (in 4 days, from "inflammation" our dr. said) and his (terrible) temper is mostly gone and our sex life has improved drastically. I highly recommend the adventure!  A. Anderson

My husband went from 260 to 185 lbs. on this diet. He's type B and it took about four months for him to lose the 75 lbs. eating healthy fish for dinner with organic veggies and brown rice, lots of cottage cheese and yogurt (which he loves), oatmeal with blueberries for breakfast, lean ground beef patty on Ezekiel bread for lunch. No sugary desserts, no chicken breast or tomatoes (which he ate a lot of when he was heavy and trying to lose the weight). The diet works. I'm Type O and don't have the bloating I had when I ate dairy products (I take calcium/Vit D supplements daily). Love eating lean tender fillet mignon often. S. Berrett

It works for me. I have had ulcertive colitis for over 30 yrs. I began a macrobiotic diet using the blood type diet (I am A+). I became a pescetarianism (vegetarian but eats fish). I have never felt so great! No more tummy aches & I have lost weight, I love it! K. Ayraud

I suffered with the same problems for years and years. I had aches and pains throughout my body. Pain in my joints -- especially my hands. I had terrible allergies -- colds and bronchitis every year. I suffered with headaches everyday -- all day. I always felt like I was on the verge of getting sick. Following the recommendations from my SWAMI has changed my life. Eating the foods that are right for my body and following the protocols designed to heal the gut, has made a new woman of me. You can get well. You will get well. V. Pace

I'm an O+ and started with BTD 2 1/2 years ago. About 9 months in, I switched to the Genotype diet & have had incredible results. The more I fine tune my diet, the better things become. The biggest revelation I found was the effect of sugar on my allergies & asthma. I have suffered from seasonal allergies for my entire life & they became increasingly worse having lived in the desert for the last 20 years, as things bloom 10 months out of the year. I have subjected myself to immunotherapy, receiving injections twice weekly for over a year with no relief & increased allergy reaction. Finally, I made the sugar connection & as long as I keep my sugar consumption to natural sugars (acceptable fruits), my allergy symptoms are pretty much non-existent. I know that O's are supposed to avoid sugar anyway & it was the last hold out for me. It's truly amazing how your body can heal itself when you feed it the proper things! T. Paris

Dr D'Adamo

I am Former Chef/Cook, I am also fan of your ERFYT Book, Since I bought the first version it has vastly changed the way I cook and eat my Foods. I have also eliminated the foods that have been causing my Allergies such as arthritis and skin conditions. I used to have a fungal yeast infection spread throughout my whole body after Studying your book I am pretty much back to normal and have a stronger immune defense as long as people don't offer me Tasty foods with secret ingredients. I just want to reach out and give a big thanks, you have been a great mentor. The first one to get it right.

Hi, I'm an A and have just made Carrot Parsnip Latkes...felt so guilty eating them as they had been fried. This is going to take me a while to get my head round this eating. I've been on the plan for only 2 weeks but already I am sleeping better at night and have lost 3lb. J Hedges

A+ nonnie Explorer. For me, magnesium helped initially. I had high anxiety with panic attacks and fibromyalgia type pain. I did my Swami, and ate only Superfoods for three months straight, but was still getting tension in my neck and shoulders with nerve/tissue pain. I was taking Cortiguard, as well. Then I tried Catalyst for Explorer. It has glutathione in it. It completely calms my whole system down. I know everyone is different, and there are many factors to consider. It took me a very long time to figure out what worked for me. Carmelin L

Dr. D'Adamo,

I am only six weeks into my GenoType diet and I have already experienced marked positive results with my health. Just prior to stumbling upon your website, I was in the process of seeking further medical management for my health problems. I am SO grateful that I found you and your unique approach to diet first.

Now, rather than needing more medical treatments and drugs, I have been able to reduce, and in some cases eliminate, the drugs I was taking to treat my symptoms. Your approach treats/modifies the health problem at its core instead of covering up symptoms with band-aids. Also, I generally feel better.

I intend to be a lifelong participant of your work and am looking forward to continued better health. Please accept my sincere appreciation for all of the time, effort, and dedication you have devoted to developing your concepts and practice, then making such important, life-changing information accessible to everyone!

Wishing you good health and continued success,

A.K.

Hello Everybody, I just joined this group and want to share my success story with the ERFYT diet as encouragement. I was 54 years and so angry at having been told by neurologists that they had no clue what was causing the increased numbness and weakness in my lower legs and feet or whether it would worsen or not. My son sent me the original ERFYT book and I still recall the words leaping off the page - that Type A's are predisposed to neurological disorders. The next day I began consuming only the beneficial foods. It was easy to make most of the transitions (soy milk instead of cow, mazarella instead of jack, pineapple juice instead of orange) but at first I did miss those nightshades and peppers. So glad I could keep the coffee and red wine. About two weeks later, I was aware of the most wonderful sensation of well-being as my immune system resumed its intended function. Fourteen years later, I'm still a willing participant. I have the ERFYT app on my phone which really helps me stay focused when I'm shopping or eating out. Laura E

Wow the more of the book I read, the more I realize how many of my "issues" are caused by the foods I eat. I've always eaten healthy 90% of the time...and workout 3-5 times a week...and for the past 2 years without changing how I eat 30 pounds have crept on...now I am reading that even though they are healthy foods.. they are not right for my body. I can't drink red wine it causes me to have an acid reflux attack. THank you Dr D!! Stacey H

I started this life style change (I don't call it diet cos it's not just food you have to watch out) since Jan this year. Have lost one and half stone (about 20lbs) in weight, back pain is gone, although still not sleeping too well but better than a year ago. I feel healthier and most of all, I don't stay up till stupid hours anymore and have more energy to do things nowadays. I love this change, and hope I can continue stick to it. D. Chiu

It has now been ten weeks since I first changed my eating habits to improve my intestinal and heartburn issues.  Though my primary reason for changing is to eliminate the pain and discomfort caused by those symptoms, I was also hoping to lose a little weight.

I began on March 16th and weighed 172lbs, my waist 43", and my hips 49".

Today, May 24th I weigh 155lbs (a loss of 17lbs), my waist 39.0" (a loss of 4"), and my hips 46.5" (a loss of 2.5").

I used to eat red meat 2-3 times a week, chicken 3-4 times a week, fish rarely.  I ate lots of nightshade foods that were tearing my insides up, wheat (pastas, breads and gravies) that were killing me, white rice, and occasionally pinto beans, kidney beans or black-eyed peas.  I had cheese and milk almost every day.  I ate veggies (typically corn, broccoli, green beans and sometimes spinach, peas and carrots) a few times a week. The only nuts I ever ate were peanut butter and that was hit or miss depending on my cravings.

Now I no longer eat red meat, I have chicken or turkey 3 times a week, and I also eat fish 3 times a week.  I no longer eat any nightshade foods, wheat products of any kind, I have had white rice one time in 10 weeks.  I now eat in addition to the above beans (minus the kidney beans), adzuki, edemame, lentils, red lentils, and great northern beans.  I have switched to soy and almond milks, goat and sheep cheeses and goat yogurt (I rarely ate yogurt before).  I now eat a minimum of four servings of veggies a day of which at least half or more are greens; some days I have as many as seven servings.  I eat collards, mustard greens, kale, various chards, asparagus, parsnips, turnips, rutabaga, beets, squash, zucchini, and jicama. I eat walnuts, pecans, and almonds several times a week.  I now use healthy grains in my cooking including amaranth, oat bran, spelt, tapioca, flaxseed, rye, quinoa, and will soon add millet.  I know there are many other foods including spices and herbs that weren't even addressed that I have incorporated into my new eating style.

I Have made enormous strides in proactively eating for optimal health and it has made a major difference in my overall well-being.  I know I have more improvements that can and will be made.  However for a nominal ten week period I know I have overcome and done better than most people simply trying to diet.  I have more confidence in myself and my ability to make lifelong changes that I can and will stick with.

I am new to the forum, but have been on the BTD for 4 months. I am type O. All I can say is I am sold.

It changed my life.

I was a vegetarian for 6 years, but never really had any energy and felt heavy. Since then I have lost 25 lbs (195 to 170), got ripped muscles, six-pack abs.

I eat only beneficials and I must say all my maladies are gone. No more acid reflux, no more headaches, sleeplessness, lack of energy; my skin has cleared up, no more brain fog. I could go on and on.

Oh BTW, I was on Blood pressure medication for years, but no longer take them as my BP is now well within the normal range.

I no longer have cravings and it seems as if that started the moment I stopped eating wheat, and sugar. There are somethings that I miss, such as avocado and coconut oils, but for the most part. I am really enjoying how I feel.

I just keep my eating as simple as possible--Lamb, Bison, Cod, Red Snapper--those meats I consume the most, along with Collard Greens, Kale and Broccoli. Every so often I will have a half cup of brown rice, but that's about it. I believe my carb intake is less than 40 grams per day.
And whatever FAT is on the meat, I leave it on and eat it.

For breakfast I do the O protein blended with a handful of walnuts, a few black cherries and some mango chunks, with unsweetened almond milk.

For supplements, I do the Basic Pack O, Nitricycle, Aromastat, Genoma Cardia. And some energy bars--Chocolate Cherry an hour before I workout.

I exercise 3-4 times per week--quite rigorous. Lot's of circuit training, resistance bands, and Kettle-bells. Free weights are incorporated as a part of my circuit training.

I waited this long to put something in writing because I wanted to be sure it wasnt a placebo effect.
B. Miles

A short note to thank you for your great work and providing your wonderful knowledge.  I am an O blood type group and have been following the blood type diet now for 13 years and in that time by eliminating wheat I no longer suffer from hay fever and asthma. I tend to enjoy the the foods suggested and my weight has stabilized to within my height to weight ratio. some time ago I participated in power walking events and found that I struggled if I ate pasta, the  evening prior, but if  I ate  a good steak my personal bests improved due to my oxygen levels increasing.

Once Thank you

Janice

I have been doing the O type diet even before I found your book. My own body had rejected the foods that are to be avoided by O types. So I have been an avid supporter of your book and bought it for all my friends. My dietitian now uses your book to educate others.

Thank you for all you have done.

Dear Dr. D'Adamo,

Nearly 1,5 year ago I got in contact withe your blood type diet.
First I studied all your books who are here on the Belgium market. After that I changed my diet for Type O.

I must say that the results were and are spectacular, i lost weight, more energy,...

I was (because a Prof. here in Belgium told me to do) already more than 15 years a vegetarian. The reason was a kidney problem, i produced kidney stones who growers so fast, and the Prof. advised me to stop eating meat, specially red meat, now red wine, red fruit, now fish, ... a lot of food that is good for a O type.

I must say, that I had only 1 time in the 15 years kidney stones, so that was ok.
The only thing was in the period of 15 years vegetarian i ad   20 kg.
My energy was going down.

When I read your books, it was strange but also logic and i believed it and changed my diet.
I was a little bit afraid that the kidney stones would come back, but now, now stones.

In the beginning it was not such a success, my body had some problems withe the big change. (as you explain in your books)
After a week ore 2, everything was normal again, now sorry, if was much better, i lost weight, more active, more energy,...

In my work as a therapist i suggest the diet to my clients.
I seemed not so easy to convince people to read the book, and to change there food habits, some started but stopped with the diet, or others never started or were not able to read and understand the books.

I find this so pity because your type diet is fantastic. Thank you for the time that you take to heal all.

Best Regards, Sandra V
