So glad there is a FB page for O's..I started this diet due to illness..I was diagnosed with colitis an auto immune condition and was very ill and my doctor had me on all sorts of medicines...when I heard about this blood type book and learned that O's are prone to this particular disease so I had to read all I could about the diet...I immediately went on it and never looked back. I no longer have symptoms of my condition and am healthier then I ever have been in my life ! I have no allergies anymore either...it truly changed my life!!! I tell everyone to empower themselves with this knowledge....

20 months ago, I set out on this to get my body healthy. Losing weight was not at the top of my list. The first month I lost 8 lbs. The rest 14 lbs. came off a little at a time. I leveled out level of 3 months at 123 lbs. My height is 5'6. I have hereditary Neuropathy and have no pain & burning. My arthritis pain & inflammation is gone [off meds] and so are the wrist braces I wore when I started ER4YT. My Hereditary Cholesterol was 260 now 140, I'm off meds. My "allergies" are gone [off meds] I found out dairy, wheat & corn was causing the problems. My adult acne is gone. I now have long beautiful nails that I never have before. I no longer fight the urge to fall asleep in the afternoon. My food cravings have stopped between breakfast & lunch. I know have energy to get through the day. I no longer spend $150 per month for medications I was on 20 months ago. ***ER4YT is not a weight loss option. It is a life style change.***

I started reading your “Diabetes - Fight It with the Blood Type Diet: The Individualized Plan for Preventing and Treating Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes” book today.
My mom was given it as a gift a few years back, but we had never opened it. With a family history rampant with Diabetes and Hypothyroidism and gastrointestinal problems of all sorts including colon cancer and gall disease (and three years myself fighting with what seemed like every kind of food making me sick), I decided that it was time to start reading your book. I began to really notice my problems when I left for college in Minnesota (2,000 miles from home) and they removed my gall bladder, and they continued to worsen during my year in the south of Spain (lots of Garbanzo Beans (which is listed under “Avoid”) and saffron (which I am allergic to)).
Upon reading the Type A charts of food, I began to realize that many of the “Avoid” foods were culprits in my struggle, and many of them had already been eliminated or considerably reduced from my diet. Upon reading the “Week 1” under “Getting Started,” I realized that I could feasibly begin this lifestyle change right away tomorrow (instead of waiting until the start of the new week), since I have already eliminated so much from my diet.  And, though I am not yet diabetic nor pre-diabetic, I figured that these changes wouldn’t hurt me, and can only make me feel better in the long-run, and greatly reduce my chances of developing diabetes in the future.
My family and I spent about 3 hours tonight going through the lists of food with reactions like “Potatoes make me feel sick too!” and “Oh, good. I can still eat turkey, since it’s the only meat that doesn’t make me sick!”
I want to thank you for this book, and know that my family will be incorporating your advice into our daily lives as we work to prevent diabetes and hypothyroidism in myself, and treat my mom’s Type II Diabetes and my dad and 13-year-old brother’s hypothyroidism.
        Thanks again.

" My mom and I both started at the same time (she's O and I'm B ) and I am absolutely AMAZED at the health benefits, especially in my mother. She has horrible allergies and could barely breathe, could hardly talk, and couldn't exercise because of her shortness of breath. She had to take all sorts of meds for that, as well as PRILOSEC for her digestion - the maximum dose every day. We've been on it now for a couple of weeks and she called me yesterday in tears (happy ones). She can SING again, which she hasn't been able to do for decades. Corn was a HUGE problem for her and she had no idea. This diet has been a godsend for both of us. Her stomach no longer bothers her so much, and she's now down to the lowest dose of her Prilosec per day that a person takes. Hopefully she'll be able to go off of that eventually. I this diet, made the changes and feel so much better. I have noticed a major improvement in my allergies, as well as my chronic fatigue. I no longer feel like I'm in a "fog" and exhausted all the time. I've lost 16 lbs! Loving life again."

before BTD, I was on oxygen 24/7 COPD one lung completely blocked, the other 2/3 blocked ,CHF/hypoxia, heart attack, osteoarthritis, diabetes, very weak. Had to pick up my coffee/tea mug with two hand instead of two fingers on one hand. Could only walk baby steps with a walker, had to have home health aid 3 hrs 7 days a week, to shower, dry, and dress me, to prepare meals, I couldn't stand more then maybe 10 minutes, holding on to something. With BTD, within two months no more arthritis pain, strength came slowly back, had physical therapy, learning correct way to breath, exerting with release of air, IBS soon stopped, occupational therapy helped with procedures to use to function better. I believe it was 2005 when I started BTD, was able to switch from walker to cane, I would walk fifty feet, sit down to rest, then walk fifty feet back to my apt. I also used a motorized wheel chair for trips on the sidewalk or in the halls of dr offices/hospitals for apts. Eventually decided to do genotype, which when I took the test was told it was the better of the two for me. There was more improvement, I was able to stand to do hand wash a batch of dishes, after meals, I was able to take a load of clothes to the laundry room, and do them, I could carry some loads, had to push other loads there but could carry them back to apt. Planted a few veggie plants and cared for them on patio. Then I was able to afford to get Swami, that was the fine tuning I needed, I was able to get off of oxygen completely, walk without a cane, shower, dry, and dress myself again. I was able to make up my bed, take care of my apt, did NOT need HHA anymore, and now off of all meds. In the beginning I was on 39 pills a day and 2-3 shots. I've went from a 5X to an 8/10W. and I continue eating this way and fine tuning more, as I learn more continuously.

My husband is a non-compliant Type O+ who had to have his gallbladder removed because of gallstones, and also has had kidney stones! When I cook its always something healthy and compliant, but he will bring home ice cream, chips, doughnuts all kinds of wheat etc. and have fast food!!! Well last summer he had to have blood work done for his shoulder surgery and they discovered that his thyroid was running very low ( Hypothyroid)! His dr. told him that he would run it 3 times ( over the next few months) and if all 3 came back low he wants him to start thyroid meds. I kept telling him about the diet and how too much wheat and corn etc. can effect his thyroid! He still ignored it and his second test came out badly too!!! Then he said okay I'll try it! So for the next few weeks he gave up wheat, corn, etc. and didn't cheat then his 3rd test came out normal!!! So now he pretty much sticks to it! He still cheats ALOT, but he is paranoid about his thyroid and doesn't eat nearly as much if the bad stuff as he used too! He still continues to ask his doctor to test his thyroid every few months! Looking forward to the day he will be more compliant just because he is 49 and it will help his health now and in the long run!

I was lazy for a while and just ate whatever. Last week I put the beef back in my diet and I lost 10 lbs and my knee isn't hurting as much! If that isn't a big enough incentive to eat correctly, nothing is!

" I am 100% compliant now but the times before when I wasn't it seemed like the less time I was off the less recovery time! When I went off for a couple of months there was HELL to pay, (my brain was addicted to all the sweets I couldn't have and it made me REALLY GRUMPY not having them anymore) and it took my body way longer to feel better!!! Everyone is diff. though! Some people detox much faster!!! I ALWAYS DREADED the getting back on the wagon because you know what you have to go through once you get back on, but by how bad I was feeling there was NO OTHER choice for me!! It is worth it and now I am NEVER getting back off again! The times I fell away were when I was feeling GREAT and mistakingly thought that the food wouldn't hurt me again!
Thats when I REALIZED that this is more of a LIFESTYLE that a diet and that I had to make a true commitment to it!!! Not easy AT ALL!!! "

Loving foods is a given....but that is why we are in bad health or heading that way. With the BTD I started to learn that loving myself is more important that letting my taste buds rule me. Though they win the battle, on occasion.

" About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with Essential Tremor, which has been progressively getting worse in my head & hands.
About 1.5 years ago, my cholesterol & triglycerides were high enough that my doctor convinced me to try Atorvastatin.
At my annual blood work 6 weeks ago, my liver enzymes were high so she took me off the atorvastatin for a month. I immediately purchased the hepatigard & Scienca from your website & took them once a day every morning for a month. My AST & ALT are now in the normal range. I am not going to take cholesterol medication (since I promised her I would get retested in 3 months).
Another great part here is that my tremor has subsided! I am going to finish the bottles of Hepatigard & Scienca. I am not going to fill the prescription of anti-tremor meds.
I SINCERELY BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DIRECT CORRELATION BETWEEN LIVER TOXINS AND ESSENTIAL TREMOR. "

I am O neg too. The Blood Type Diet has been one of the best things I've ever discovered for me and my family! Dr D'Adamo's Eat Right for Your Type book (see http://www.dadamo.com) explains the science behind it. I often use this site for food lists. I suggest starting to identify foods on your AVOID list and gradually replacing them with NEUTRALs and BENEFICIALs.

10 months ago, my 48 year old DH (an O+ NS Hunter) went for a check up (it had been a number of years). Having always been very health conscious, he was surprised when he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease (GFR was 54). His doctor told him that when kidney function drops below 60, that is cannot be reversed. In addition, he had elevated heavy metals (his lead levels came in at 19 μg/dL - the state and county even checked in on it).

Prior to this, he had been sort of following BTD - he knew the "no potatoes" worked wonders on his knees, but he was a somewhat lax on some of the other areas. When he got this news, he decided to totally commit to it. We did up his SWAMI and he has been following it very closely since last October.

Yesterday, we received his latest blood results. His doctor was surprised... apparently, he had never seen someone improve their kidney function so dramatically. My DH's GFR is now > 60 (it's about 71 now, and the doctor called this the "normal" range for kidney function) AND his lead levels have dropped from 19 μg/dL to 8 μg/dL. My DH is absolutely sold on this lifestyle. He is happy with the changes he's made and how he feels.

Thank you so much!!

I'm so excited, I have been on this diet for 10 days or so, and now my husband got interested in it. He read about guidelines for type O and is planning to start eating like that. He normally never gets excited about my diets but I guess he has seen its effects on my moods!

13 years ago Doctors wanted to take out a piece of my colon at the age of 27. They were adamant that there was nothing I could do otherwise. I was rail thin, because I couldn't digest anything. I was 6'2" and weight 145 Pounds (from a high of 210lbs.). People would look at me as if I were on my death bed, and ask what was wrong. I was hesitant to have an operation done, and wanted to think about it; it just happened with out looking, I came across a Health Coach. She handed me "The Book." Needless to say, 13 years later and 40 years young I'm a healthy 6'2" 190 pound individual--with a full colon (and now it does get full !!! I no longer eat for the pleasure of it, I eat to survive. and to be honest on an A type diet, I can eat pretty cheap and healthy. I guess it's up to the individual of how much pleasure they want out of eating. There's nothing wrong with healthy pleasure; but if you can't afford it you find ways of doing it healthy.

I am 40 yrs old and just had my 5th child last year and in a few months I was back to my normal body weight with muscle tone and after about 9 months postpartum my abs were back! I feel great, energized and athletic. I have followed the Blood type O for about 10 years now. I love that it's not a fad diet. It's just changing your diet to foods that are best for your body! I've been an athlete for 32 years and competed at an elite level for several years. I don't eat as much or train as long or as hard as I used to when I was younger, but still get the same results. In University, I used to complain to coaches that it was too much work for me and had exercise induced asthma at one time. I had no idea about my blood type at that time either, it just didn't feel right. Now, I have more energy, less fatigue and my workouts are shorter, precise and more intense. More effective for me to work this way.Sometimes less is more! It totally feels right for my body! So thankful for Dr. D'Adamo and this lifestyle change. I teach my kids to eat this way too. The book is my nutritional bible! I need to order the new version

I have been on the O diet for 13 years and feel great. I do not eat flour or white potatoes. I shop around the outside of the market and just get cereal on the inside Rice Chex. I do not eat processed foods. I am 73 years old and never felt better in my life.

"I'm a typical example of docs putting me on "traditional" weight loss plans, i.e.., low fat, high carb. And they wonder why I keep gaining weight! The first week on BTD, I dropped 7 lbs!"

"I had wicked stomach pains last year. I couldn't even walk 20 metres without getting short of breath, chest pains, chronic knee and back pains. I went from an active fit man to an immobile mess in less than a year. I weighed a whopping 115kg. The doctors couldn't pinpoint the problem. At only 46 at the time I knew something was drastically wrong and I had to do something quick before it got worse. Over the next couple of weeks I done a couple of big long hard prayers.

Then I came across the blood type book a good friend of mine had it. My wife told me to look at it. My first thought was " oh rubbish, another diet book" Then I read it, it made sense. I done some research then applied it.

Wow it works. I'm down to 98kg, the pains have gone, I can run again - actually I can sprint. I have way more energy. I'm gaining my fitness back, my life back. I review this book everyday it's brilliant.

Thank you very much Dr. D'Adamo"
