I've finally dropped down below 164, meaning that my BMI has gone below 30 (29.81 to be exact), which brings me out of the "obese" category and into the "overweight" catagory!
Yeah, I know that BMI is a very crude tool that doesn't allow for variations in bone structure or body type, I need to be within 4 lbs of my ideal weight to even get into the "healthy range", but this is still a cool milestone to pass. More exciting is getting below the "setpoint" that I haven't been able to get beneath since my second child was born (and where I got "stuck" when I was low-carbing.) |

Yay! Isn't it great being overweight after being obese? I was morbidly obese. Now I'm merely overweight and I'm lovin' it. When I reach my goal, I will still be quite a bit (21 lbs) over the top of what Weight Watchers informed me years back is my "ideal range". From what I've heard, they have modified that upward since then. Anyway, when I reach my goal, I may well try to keep going. The GenoType Diet has made me believe that will be possible. However, even if I get to my goal and never lose a speck beyond that, I will be quote thrilled. When you've come from morbid obesity, health is just fine with you, whether the "experts" still call ya overweight or not. |

I would love to be under 164. Of course I am almost 5'10"! So me being under that weight I'm gonna look smoking, with just the right curves. I just need to have this baby in the next 3 weeks or so and than continue melting. I will let everyone know as soon as I am even close to that point! lol

Don't know how I missed this post. Ruthie that's great. Your doing so well. I'm 5'2 at 165lb I only need to loose 15lb. (150lb) now that sounds like I'm still overweight and I believe it will be using the BMI. But at that weight I'll be in a 8-10 top and 10-14 pants. Because of my years of ballet dancing my legs are very strong. I was told by a sport doc. to take 20lb off my total weight. Once I can across a book that had you take measurements. It said I should be 145lb. I believe the BMI says I need to be 115-125. Sorry not going to happen only time I got down to 130 as an adult I was in the hospital. I guess my point is that the BMI doesn't work for everyone because it can't take into account everything about your body. For those of you who feel good and aren't having health issues. Don't worry about the BMI. Like the BTD, weight is not one size fits all. |
