I started following my swami plan last July. I considered myself quite healthy: slim, energetic, never seem to catch any colds... however, I was intensely addicted to caffeine and sugar and suffered from severe irritability and never-ending hay fever. My blood work was revealing that my thyroid function was dropping and my platelets were low and I had some other abnormalities related to blood cell levels. I'd also noticed my hair and skin were becoming very dry, and my face was getting droopy. Quite honestly, it was vanity that really catapulted me into changing my diet.
Within about 6 weeks, my cravings and mood and allergies had cleared up. My night sweats went away. My face looks better; at least 3 friends have told me I am looking and acting very happy. To be honest, others have noticed changes more than I've noticed in myself. My weight initially dropped 5 pounds (I think water retention from allergies) and has stayed there without any effort on my part. I went through the holidays and didn't gain anything.
I just got results back from my last set of blood tests, and every marker is within its healthy range, including thyroid! Today, I noticed my fingerprints are visible. When I first signed up for swami, I couldn't see my ridges. I tried ink, no ink, everything, but they were just flat. Now, I see healthy grooves, and I only have the horizontal lines on my thumbs and pinkies. They used to be on every finger.
Significantly, I believe the supplements helped almost as much as the diet. I'd been taking too many vitamins that had too much stuff in them. I really recommend checking out the vitamin recommendations and resisting the urge to add anything else. |

That's so awesome, congratulations!! So many doctors don't understand that you can fix a thyroid problem without drugs. Way to go |

That's really great, Laura! I didn't know the faint fingerprints are a sign of less-than-ideal health. Mine have always been pretty flat since I was a child and I drop things all the time because of that, ! |

Thanks for all your support! Sometimes it's hard to remember how far we've come. I wonder if health continues to improve over the years... I'd be interested in hearing from 'older' members whether or not this is true. |

Absolutely, in my case. I had forgotten what it feels like to be at my ideal weight, have awesome bowel movements, nights of restful sleep with no bathroom stops, pain-free knuckles. The Genotype diet (2 years) have done more than 10 years on the blood type diet. Although the BTD did make many positive changes, this past couple of years has been dramatic. |

I've only been aware of Dr. D's work since 2007 and have been following the diets for 3 years. First I started with the Blood Type Diet and got off medications and lost weight. Then I learned about The Genotype Diet and now I'm following a Swami diet. I feel like I'm constantly learning new information here and it helps to heal, prevent, and recover from illnesses big and small. Skin, nails, and hair are growing stronger and my toenail problems are gone (my toenails used to look very dull and gray but ever since Swami, they're growing in nice and pink) I think the longer you're on the diet, the more you heal little things that you thought were just a part of life. |

Yes...I forgot to mention that I was constipated my whole life until the BTD. Now I go to the bathroom every day. I take it for granted now but that was a huge problem that cleared up for me. |

Congrats, that is so awesome! Such a great feeling of accomplishment! |
