Hey hi guys, I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself... and share my little success story (and give credit where it’s due). Frankly, I’m quite new to all this eating healthy type stuff... but it’s the best decision I’ve made in my whole life. I started BTD in November ‘09, and moved on to SWAMI as soon as I figured it existed... powerful concept. Now, I fit into a 61% Hunter non-secretor archetype, which I’m quite glad about, since I’m meat lover The medium term results for me were amazing... I was blown away... really... Digestion problems: gone. Minor join pain: gone. 12 lbs of fat: gone. (and I’m 5’1”) And I’m eating 5 meals a day (never ate that much), so basically, I’m almost never hungry. And best of all, which is actually why I started this new way of life, I just get more energy, all day long. Awesome. Next step: switching from regular beef to grass fed beef... Of course there is one draw back... the cost, especially the meat and protein... oh well... I've figured it's more important to eat healthy then to get that new sport car... anyway I hope that eventually with the power of the group we’ll be able to draw down the cost of grass fed animal protein... get things back to “normal” if you will. And also, I wanted to say thank you Dr. D. for all of your research and your life time work and making all of this available to all of us in an easy to understand format, good work. Alright, Talk to you guys soon, and take care. Nicolas |

Welcome to the diet, Nicholas! I think grass-fed beef will always be more expensive than corn-fed beef. The reason the beef growers feed beef grain is to make it grow faster, so they can get more animals grown bigger in a fixed length of time and space. If growers have to grow the beef on grassland, they can't grow as many animals in the same space and it takes longer to grow. If demand gets so large for grass-fed that it eclipses grain fed, I think that will tend to drive UP the price for the grass-fed because short supply/high demand will tend to make it more expensive. There is no assembly line for grass-fed beef... |

Welcome & well done Nicolas!! I'm sure I remember reading recently, that in NZ funnily enough, if the price of grain keeps getting higher that they were considering going back to purely grass fed... Here's hoping!!!! |

Welcome fellow Hunter! I have had amazing results as well.
I can purchase a 3 lb. grassfed organic beef chuck roast for about $16 and make an amazing crock pot roast for my family! When you think about it, per serving the cost is not so much per person and equals about what a fast food meal would cost at a restuarant. (not that I would ever buy one!)
It takes a grassfed steer 4-5 years to grow to the desired weight before slaughter (I hate that word, but it is what it is!). A corn fed cow is ready for slaughter at around 15 months. That's what a corn fed diet and steriods do.
I agree with ABJoe about the cost of grassfed being driven up as demand increases. So much land is needed and I recently read that we would never be able to produce enough grassfed beef to feed everyone, at least in the US. We just don't have the amount of land needed.

Nicolas! Again a story of a person who himself takes responsability for his health. We all know that the abundantly present processed foods in the stores are doing our health no favor! But... the decision to start listening to your needs and of course BTD/GTD coming on your path, is so important to become healthy again! Congrats Nicolas! You have seen the light! You listen to your body!! Welcome on 'board' Cocky |

Hey thanks for all the responses guys... Talking about a “BLOOD TYPE diet” normally get me weird looks, which is kinda funny. And I agree with you ABJoe... growing grass fed beef is certainly not the best business decision one could make... which is probably the original reason as to why we are now, as a society, stuck in this food mess (to stay polite here). Still. I think there is room for improvement on the price point of grass fed beef if it was more popular. The way I see it, initially the price should go down... until land run short, than start going up. I remember reading (maybe around here) that in some region of world (namely Europe) grass fed beef is the norm... which is interesting. |

but not everyone needs to be fed beef! nearly half the population is A blood type |

I didn't say it wasn't a good business model... I just meant to state that grass-fed beef will never be price comparable to feedlot grown beef. The land costs are significantly more for grass-fed... The grower must include this cost in the price of the finished product or his business will not be successful. Short-term, there may be some dynamics that affect the prices either higher or lower as in any business, so the price from an individual grower or the industry as a whole, may increase or decrease somewhat... |
