Such a surprise I noticed yesterday!! My hubby (have to get used to this name ) has grey hair since his early twenties.. Grey, and that is completely light grey! Beautiful colour btw.. But now it comes.... Yesterday I noticed black hairs between the gray hairs.. Astonishing!! Hans is on his O-Hunter diet since 2 years now and skin and weight improved enormously, and now his hair is turning black again!! What a good diet, new relation, in short a healthier life does to your body and hair! I will keep an on his hair... Have anyone of you experienced something similar?? Hope to hear some stories! Wow. That is interesting news. I am A (probably Teacher, waiting for results of secretor tests for both) and husband is O (most likely Hunter) who has been complaining about grey and white hairs (age 46). He was platinum infant/toddler and mixed blonds until aging change. He has just started his transition toward compliant diet...doesn't realize how fast our transition is going. We'll keep an eye on this issue also. We do have pictures of "now" to compare with later. Your news may inspire him!! |

Yessss! I thought this should happen, and I was waiting on somebody to be on the diet long enough to report. I'm waiting on my husband's thinning hair to fill in. After all, if it's in his genes, we should be able to reverse some of that, right? |

Cocky, The good times just keep getting better and better! I rejoice for you always, with love. kittykar1, I believe there is a lot of power in the BTD. However, if you want to experience the best of your program, please get your secretor status tested. Otherwise you will be unsure of if you are really eating for your type. If you are a secretor, no problem, but if you are a nonnie, many things can change in your food lists and compliancy is even more important. Regarding gray hair, Chinese medicine views graying hair as depleted kidney yin. This could roughly be viewed as a type of adrenal fatigue. Eating for our types will be a big step in lessening the stress on our adrenal/kidney systems and set us up for healing and turning back the aging clock. Coupled with getting appropriate rest and exercise will carry us a long way in the direction we want to go. |

Ribbit, I for myself have noticed many years ago (I am since october 1999 on the BTD/GTD!!) that my hair became fuller.. Especially on the spots where hair witdraws on both sides of the front.. New hairs started growing there!! Besides my hairdresser who cuts my hair for more than 15 years now, says that my hair is in great shape, shining and no thinning at all, for a woman of my age At the start of menopause, 2 years ago, my hairs became softer, a bit too soft to my taste.. But dying my hair (since many years!) makes my hairs dry and better to style.. One of the advantages, next to dozen of other improvements in my health, of this way of life!! Lola, I can be greyhaired when I am old (I hope to grow verrrry old on BTD!!) but now for the coming years I prefer the red hairs... Victoria, Times are good and getting better once your body is in balance and your mind geared towards optimism!! Take care and stay well! Cocky |

I heard that too Lola. I picked up some ionic copper at a health expo. You put it on your hair after rinsing and let it air dry. |

Then i must have an excess of copper. i'm 64 and my hair is still black. Oh, i've got four or five grey hairs...but they came since i was eating lots of bread six months prior to diet. It would be interesting to know more about zinc/copper issues having to do with the hair. My son was born with a zinc deficiency and he started losing hair in twenties....but he is not grey. |

i'm just paranoid cause thats exactly what my roommate says to me when i tell her anything about this diet or health. "fascinating, now could we talk about something else?" She comes home from work and sits down next to me and those are always her first words. "Now please don't talk about food or health, okay?"
So sorry if i was a little suspicious of sarcasam, Lola...i get it everyday. Is this an exlorer trait? do they explore every last nuance of every darn subject until they drive "normal" people to distraction? I guess this is something to explore. |

My cousin who is older than me dyes her hair. I think she looks crazy. To top it off she insists on getting a perm for body and then does nothing with it. I come from a family with straight hair. I keep my hair long. I keep it up though (literally). I have yet to dye my hair ever and don't really intend to. I think if your hair is healthy it doesn't matter if it naturally turns because of your age. Sometimes my grandson asks me to dye my hair. I say I'm proud every gray hair and wrinkle I have. Well maybe not the wrinkles...Aani |

I think it's OK to stay gray if you like it. I personally look ugly with the gray/white that is increasing. I have been using mascara on the hair around my face. It doesn't have to be perfectly dark, but I try to cover most of the gray. My husband is almost all white. He looks good in either white or black & doesn't care anyway. I have grayed slower than other family members, & I'm sure it is due to diet. I'm not into a lot of makeup, etc., but don't accept gray easily when I have/had a beautiful dark brown shade. |

Boy what an incentive to stick to the diet, no gray and fuller hair! I thought redheads didn't gray but I started turning gray at 50. I'm proud of every gray hair I've earned but I'm not going to let them show any sooner than I have to. My Mother-in-law was a natural redhead until the day she died at 82. |

When I first started the BTD I also noticed a reduction of my gray hair. Now that I have trouble with compliance my head is getting quite white. I do not want to dye as I go daily to the beach, the sun... plus I like the texture of my natural hair. My hairdresser has recomended I use camomile and tea brew on my hair (cold). The camomile makes it blonder the tea darkens the gray. I have to try it out. I have done so for two weeks but got bored with it just when I was noticing a little change. I may one day get around it. I'll post results if I do so. |

I've been considering using hemp. Has anybody tried that? I got some on clearance at the health food store and the directions say if you want it blonder, use chamomile tea with the hemp. But I don't want to do anything I'll regret. I have a lot of hair. |

Wow! This is really some item I have touched!! Ribbit: I have used hemp many years ago. Did not turn out the red I wanted... Sort of carrot orange was the result... Anyway I use Guhl no. 63 and 62 in turns.. Better... But.. I like grey hairs as well... on others, not on my head, for the time being. Isa, SOD is it also good to take this after chemo??? A friend of mine will undergo chemo tomorrow. She is type O, Gatherer, and has had radiation for many times and now chemo.. She came to me last week for foodadvice. she loves her Gatherer diet, and is soo into it. I advised her with supps and now wonder if SOD could be of help when she has had the chemo? Cocky |

I've heard say that mixing arnica oil with olive oil and putting on head(with a cap)at night..for 3 weeks..3 times a week...will grow more hair. Now there might have been one other ingredient in this mix and if i think of it i'll tell you. Maybe someone else knows. But I think the arnica oil is the most important ingredient. I'll go google it. |

I buy black sesasme seeds and eat them. I usually grind them with some seasalt and sprinkle them over my vegetables. I also buy black sesame seed tahini. I use this to make salad dressings. It is also nice just to eat a teaspoon full of it. |

According to Chinese Medicine, He Shou Wu will restore the natural color of the hair. I tend to believe in it's success, but only if used consistently. |

I've had good luck with Eclipta Alba, which Dr D recommended, and I also use the Chinese herb Fo-Ti or also called He-Shou-Wu. At 58 I have yet to use a hair dye, and just have a streak or two of grey and a few grey hairs around the temples. Very, very fine and thin hair, though. Haven't figured out how to thicken it yet. (Doh! Hashimoto's thyroidosis might have something to do with it ) |

Yay, Linda! Another silky, fine and thin hair person, here! I have a total of 4 gray hairs that I have been able to find, and those are my remnant from chemotherapy in 2002. I wondered at the time if it was the beginning of the onslaught of graying. I have been using Chinese herbs consistently since I finished with that treatment, and part of my regime includes He Shou Wu. I have not seen the appearance of any more gray, and I'm a few years older than you! On hair thickness, Biotin, as recommended by Dr. D, seems to help a little. |

While I have only been following the BTD for only one week, the past 3 years I have been eating only real foods, no processed, no junk, and not eating in restaurants, my hairdresser and I both noticed that my hair is getting darker again. At first I was even afraid to mention it. I did not want people to think that I am stranger then I already am. Most people think that the way my husband and I eat is strange and that we are very radical.
I have also been using oil of oregano drops since August of last year and that is when I noticed my hair changing. I have also been grain free since last August.

What did you do with the oil of oregano...put on hair? Or drink? I didn't think you could take it internally. |

I take 3-5 drops into some water and drink it daily. I have even used it to brush my teeth. I also on occasion, rub some on the soles of my feet. |

My son suffers from a flaky scalp and in a search for natural remedies I came across Oregano oil. He started rubbing it into his scalp and there was some improvement.
He is only partially compliant on the BTD since he is away at college at that makes it pretty difficult, however since starting the BTD there has been even more improvement in the condition of his scalp.

I am getting more and more grey and white hairs everyday. I decided I can either dye it or grow old gracefully.I am not going to color it. I have seen so many people end up too dark or too blonde. I colored my hair when I was 15 and it turned green. Have not done it since. I will grow old gracefully. lol I have heard that vitamin B helps hair color????? I really believe it goes with DNA and genetics from our parents. (just my opinion) |

Valerie, Was just talking about this on another thread about hair.....I am sick and tired of coloring. So I am growing mine out and letting some of the greys come in. I think if we take good care of it, grey can look ok....graceful, wise, etc.....Mine when colored always turns reddish and I don't like that.... |

I also stopped coloring my hair a couple of months ago. Really tired of dumping all those chemicals on my hair. Also tired of freaking out the minute the gray roots started showing. Most of my gray is at the temples and forehead area. I started turning gray in my early thirties in nursing school. Had very bad nutritional habits at the time because of the sixteen hour days and was an hour from home. Ate a lot of fast food. Hoping a few years on the hunter diet will help that. Am just discovering what my real hair color is. |

Oh, dear. I don't know if I want carrot orange.
I don't know what is available in the part of Europe that RhodaMarie lives in, but here in the States, there is a wide array of choices with henna colors. I have had very good luck using the neutral henna, or mixing neutral henna with one of the blond henna shades. When I use only blond henna, it makes my hair a touch too strawberry toned. All our health food stores carry natural henna in bulk, and the shades include black, brown, mahogany, chestnut, blond and neutral. There are also packaged hennas (mixed with herbs to give more variety) that offer several shades of blond and several shades of the browns and red tones, including copper, etc. I love henna. It can be drying if used too often, but in moderation, it makes the hair shine wonderfully. I like Aubrey non coloring Henna Shampoo, also. It helps to keep that shine on the hair. |

I don't mind a few grays, but as they are getting more, & look ugly on me, I have been using mascara around my face area. I don't have to get every single hair, but I want to decrease those gray ladies! My hair also gets frizzy in that area & the weight of the mascara helps control that. I sure hope the diet stops the progression, which isn't that bad for my age. I keep hearing stories of reversal, but it takes lots of time. |

I'm allergic to hair dyes/colorings. I once used a temporary coloring and was playing volleyball at a family reunion. My husband said the dye was running and that I looked like I didn't wash my neck. I wanted to hide and I never colored my hair again. I had my hair cut in long layers and the silver/gray blended in very nicely. I had many compliments. Now my hair is white and I kid you not, at least once a week, if not more, a stranger will remark on how pretty my hair is. |

One more haircut for me and I won't be a red head anymore. Or what's left of it, that is. My hair is short to begin with and I wanted to see how much white I do have mixed in with dark brown. Debra |

I'm sure my fair is goinf darker since stopping using chemicals on my hair, recently started using chlorine filter too, lus swami diet so looking forward to see what happens although i have doen something recently that has made scalp a bit flaky, not sure how long it takes to cure this. possibly a Candida thing. time scale from someone would be nice
I have copper pipes inour house and had become very grey, but also a lot of chlorine and fluoride i think. but pretty sure the shampoos and chemical did the damage - was having at least one showere a day for 25 years and sometimes two when at the gym, actually sometimes i was at the gym 5 days a weeks so 2 showers a day - funny how you forget and them remember things. lol aluminium! |

Well I'm sure glad my son is going to be born in the next couple weeks than. I have had grey hairs for the past 3 years already! lol Two months ago I dyed it back from the blonde I had it as. I'm naturally a brunette. So here goes the no more coloring for me. I will see how long I can go without adding color. I would love for the gray... that are actually more like white to turn back to a color. Re-pigmentation would be awesome! I also have white patches on my skin that showed up 3 years ago too. I hope those get re-pigmented as well!!! |

i have been a bottled red sence i was thirteen. it suits both my coloring and my personality so well that people are always surprised when i tell them that is not my real color. i don't even really remember what my natural color was. i remember natural highlights of every color, thought about going back but 1 i love being red 2 i don't remember what my color was! and people do love my hair. i have been stoped literally in my tracks more than once by some stranger in a store how suddenly had a fist full of my long hair in their hands for close exsamination/ and a good feel. i use hemp shampoos and conditioners and my hair is thick and soft, the envy of most of my freinds and probly my best feachter other than my eyes. |

Battle dwarf, that's awesome. Very lucky to have healthy hair. Thank your genes for sure!
I've dyed my hair so many different colors over the years and people are surprised now when they find out that this is actually my natural color. Being a brunette suits me and makes my eyes seem that much greener.
I just hope to get rid of my white hairs and not have them multiply anymore! lol |

shortage of copper, we have copper pipes throughout the house, the copper must get eaten up somewhere along the way to my hair. lol
mine getting less grey too now though, I was going to rip all the pipes out, perhaps i won't now. that saved me a fortune thanks Lola |

I've been going gray for at least 20 years now. I dyed it for awhile but really hated the way it looked and felt so for the last 8 years or so have been going natural. I'm not 100% white yet, more like 50%, but with layers and the curl it blends in nicely and I too get many complements on my hair. The gray has not changed a bit with the BTD or SWAMI but that's ok. My hair is less dry and I think I shed less now too. |

Cocky
Hmmm, at least he HAS hair to turn a color! |

So exciting to hear the good news!! I had wondered if the BTD would affect hair color! I'm excitedly waiting to see!!
In the meantime, I had found "changes" by tints of nature. It doesn't dye your hair, it's a semi-permanent, so it just fades, and doesn't leave roots. I love the results. Doesn't change the texture of my hair like peroxide based dyes would. It feels very natural and shiny, and the greys are tinted like I got highlights. |

I will say that in the last year not eating the BTD diet. The white hairs have increased dramatically. I notice new ones every morning even when I pull them out the day before. Now that I am back on the diet, I will keep my eye on this. Very interesting! |

Last weekend my hairdresser commented that my roots were thicker. I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue in April – too much caffeine did me in. Every time I slip with something in my diet, I can see or feel the results. |

I have been a victim of that local custom in the past as well!!! used to have long hair, braided it.....ladies would pull on the braid and size it at the supermarket......not very nice! think they wished for it to be a false piece!! the pulls came with no warning.....aggravating!! |
