great.... you have given me another ray of hope accidental chef, i had been feeling pretty much blue and hopeless a while ago !!!!

i always make ghee at home only, but had reduced its consumption after reading the ERFYT and had switched over to olive oil totally (though so far i had been using cow's milk)..... so which one wud be better, or do i need to take both ?? plus i am also using some rice bran oil for cooking, is that ok for me and my husband ???
these days i am using jaggery, boora (unrefined sugar powder) or honey for making sweets.... which of these wud be best for 'O' and 'A'...... i tried stevia also, but just didnt like its taste in sweets, so am using it only for my green tea now..... and what abt the dates and figs ??/ as per the typebase chart figs are beneficial and dates are nuetral... so when i am having a bit of these (usually just 2-3 each),  plus atleast one to two serving of fruit each day, can i still afford to enjoy a little sweet treat made with one of these healthier sugar substitutes, or do i need to cut down on it ??
i am already using lot of onion, garlic and ginger in my cooking, but not much of it raw..... wud that be better or is it ok to use them in cooking......

i know i have asked lots and lots of questions at once, but cant help it.....   am pretty much excited with the increasing knowledge abt this diet and how better i am already feeling in just 3 weeks time......

Keep away from boora please! Honey too..

I would vote for ghee coz it withstands high temperatures unlike olive oil. Rice bran oil is better than olive oil for this same reason. I would still go for ghee coz of the butyric acid factor which is an O's gut healer. If you can get extra virgin olive oil (evoo) you can use it as salad dressing...but not for *cooking* per se...

Hmm..I dont know what to say about eating sweet fruits AND having a sweet dessert . For me personally that's an overkill..and my system wont be able to take it. Why not make your beneficial fruit into a dessert 9fog/date halva..?), that way you have best of both worlds !

About millet flour-keep an eye on the ready made ones coz some factories add wheat for more body . Better to grind your own using the small mixie jar.

Onions in any form is OK.

You may find, as I did, that the longer you're on the diet, the less you crave sweets.

Hey friends,
I wanted to ask you a few more questions..

1) Everybody has been telling me that since I am a vegetarian, and an O as well, I should up my intake of eggs. But I am confused as to how many a day are ok for me ?? as per the typebase diet it says that eggs are neutral for me, and the suggested serving size is just one. But since I dont take non veg, how many should I include in my everyday diet ??
2) also as per the diet chickpeas are neutral for Os, so does that mean that its neutral for me in all its forms, i.e. gram flour, roasted chickpeas etc ?? or do the properties vary and I have to be more cautious..
3) as for green tea, its highly beneficial for both me and my husband.. would chamomile be good for both of us ??? and how many cups a day would be suggested ???
4) also from the replies posted on my thread, I gather that soy products and oats are not very good for Os. but soy milk being the only good dairy substitute, I was wondering if I shouldnt at all have it, or should I still keep having a little of it assuming myself to be a secretor ( we dont know our secretor status yet)..and what about oats, should they be eliminated totally, or should I have a little of those too
5) lastly I wanted to know about a few veggies and fruits which are available here in India but I cudnt find in the list, maybe they have a different name or something.. are gourds, ridge gourds (I guess these wud come under squash which is neutral), fenugreek leaves, arbi (taro) ok or avoid for O and A type. Similarly are the fruits like chikoo(sapodilla), sugar apple ok or not.. and what about melon seeds ??

thanks in advance for any helpful info......

one or two eggs a day, if you can tolerate those, are fine....
I haven t had an egg since I began the explorer diet!

chick peas are fine in all its form, unless you were a nonnie
http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/depictor5.pl?172

tea is fine unless otherwise stated, 2 or 3 cups would be fine....
use the general search engine located at the very top left hand corner of the main website page
to find old posts on any given query
same with soy, avoid if it gives you trouble, otherwise, simply don t overdo the frequency values given until you find out your status
unlisted foods are to be considered neutral unles they give you a reaction, etc

fenugreek is fine
again, I used the search button

Since you are following the Blood Type Diet with Secretor Status Unknown, try eating 2 eggs each for bfast, lunch & dinner. Keep a look out for discomfort or anything out of the ordinary after eating eggs. Try and get fresh farm eggs instead of eggs from battery assisted hens. I ate 6 eggs a day when I was an ovo vegetarian doing the BTD O Sec diet.

Yes, chickpea is OK in all forms. As long as you mill your own flour and roast your own peas that's fine. Ready made flours have the chance of cross contamination with wheat & corn.

3) as for green tea, its highly beneficial for both me and my husband.. would chamomile be good for both of us ??? and how many cups a day would be suggested ???

The idea is to focus on beneficials which act as medicine. 6-8oz 2-3 times a day but see how you feel with that coz we are all individuals.

No, soy is not good for any O, really. I say this coz in the GTD none of the O GTs-Hunter, Gatherer & Explorer which also comprise Sec & Non Sec can have soy. Make almond milk at home, or even rice milk. Cooked rice whizzed with water in your mixie and strained. Keep away from Oats too..

If you do not find something on the Typebase that means that the catagory of food is yet to be tested, and therefore a Neutral. Most Asian catagories are yet to be tested. Taro I believe is Yucca on the typebase.

Some of the above mentioned are tested on the GTD...but I really dont want to mix one system with another...

I really cant emphasise enough about the use of higher Beneficials over Neutrals for maximum benefit of the BTD.

Congrats ss3363. I like you have PCOS and have not had a period for a long time. I started the Blood type Diet (Type 0) about 5 months ago and have lost 45 lbs and for the last 2 months have had my period regular. My Husband and I are hopeful that this will help our infertility problems. Good luck and keep it up ..
