I have often wondered and now especially with the GTD:

A) How do you define doing BTD or GTD successfully?

B) What does success with BTD or GTD mean to you?

I am off to think my answers. will be back soon.

I look forward to your replies.

A)  Doing it successfully means to me that I have incorporated the GTD into my daily life, and it's now the natural way that I eat.  I don't feel that I'm sacrificing or losing anything  There is no inner battle or struggle, no need to force myself to eat this way.  I love the food that I eat and look forward to mealtimes.

B)  This success has given me an improved quality of life;  aging has slowed, weight has normalized, my emotions have become steady with no pits of depression in sight.  I have hope of being able to continue working and playing into my elder years.  Fear is disappearing.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me not pass you by in quest
of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

I agree with Victoria's answer to A...

My answer to B:  Success is knowing what foods are going to help the body, incorporating them into a plan to to eat long-term and getting the exercise started so the entire lifestyle is sustainable...  I still have some problems that are healing, so while everything isn't rosy yet, I have a clear path and can see / feel healing in progress.  It is quite a relief after 35 to 40 years of wondering why I can't do things that other people can do to be able to see good health and great feelings on the horizon!  It is now an attainable goal!

A) It's part of my normalized routine.
B) It means not having to diet.   It also means improved health.

Oh dear! I came to write my answers and I have realized of a big difference between "followers" and an a food addicted mind like mine .

If you do not mind I shall postpone my answers until more are posted and observe if the same trend continues. Fascinating!

Thanks for posting

I ponder on Susana's questions :
1 success 5 years without antibiotics for sinusitis or longest colds full of congestion, no feeling lazy or tired after meals but nourished, able to concentrate, and willing to go back to work, exercising and house duties, better skin and slow aging, prevention of family weaknesses against diabetes, cancer and  cognitive impairment with age, I already see I deal better with age , joints, energy, weight than my sister and my brother, who are younger than me.
I'd not accept dieting as I am thin, and I can learn to love the beneficial and the neutral of my diet, choosing and cooking with some care what I need and like.
I have put half a pound on my belly alas and I'd need a litle bit more execise.
Still to guess if I am a teacher or a little warrior, as scalp dermatitis, nose inflamation and seldom (with avoids) digestive problems are not totally healed.
I have however good results forgetting allergy drops (I used this three month a year in Spring till summer) for my eyes without inflamation or itching and enduring less sleep than I'd need, escaping till now the worst of adrenal exhaustion.

Success for me:

No allergies, No more intestinal problem ,
less pain old lesion knee, more energy,
better health than many people younger than me...and I feel that I recovered soon from any disease, of course supplements help me a lot..

If I eat any 'avoids' I noticed  immediately

A.      Practically knowing all my foods by heart and incorporating them into my diet every day.  Only occasional cheating with foods that may be an avoid but I have no adverse reaction from (like when my Nomad son puts mushrooms and potatoes in some of his stews).  Very rarely going way off and then only with one meal on that day because of a social situation.  Never preparing my own food for myself with an avoid except for dots.

B.     Success to me is not taking Benadryl every day during seasonal allergy time.  Now I only take it when I get overwhelmed.  A very noticeable effect for both my son and me is the frequency and duration of colds.  Everybody around us can be sick but we get barely noticeable symptoms and when we do, we get over them faster than the friends/co-workers around us do.  I look and feel younger than my biological age compared to others I know of the same age group who follow SAD.  Ive discovered more about myself by learning I was a non-secretor.  I now understand why I had frequent urinary problems so now I take a maintenance dose of D-Mannose every day.  My glaucoma is under control.  Prior to BTD I had benign tumors removed from my leg and left ovary.  I had cysts drained from my breast 3 times.  No tumors (knock on wood) since going on the diets.  I have a bad knee from a skydiving accident and Im sure the BTD/GTD helps keep the arthritis at bay from it.  In a nutshell, it keeps me healthy and strong.

I am B- NON-Sec Explorer; my son is B+ SEC Nomad; my Mother was O+; and my Father was AB-
