I am so happy; I want to cry.

My girlfriend, who doesn't have the weight issues I have - in fact, quite the opposite. She has a great figure and has all of her life. However, she is the one responsible for my new-found lifestyle. Although she is the foxy one, she is interested in eleminating some of her aches and pains. Also, she doesn't like the way she feels after most meals.

She told me that she saw a man named Joseph Christiano on the Paula White show talking about this diet and as soon as she explained it to me, I was very excited as it just seemed to make sense. We went to Amazon, ordered the book, and waited impatiently. Once I started reading it, I notice that he mentions Peter D'Adamo as one to come before him and spoke very highly of him so I decide to check Dr. D'Adamo out as well. I pulled another girlfriend of mine in and had her to buy Dr. D'Adamo's book so I could have both reference points available to me unil I could buy it myself.

I am obese. I am 5'2 and I weigh around 310. I'm blessed in the since that I move around and do things with no hinderance but that's probably because I've never had a problem working out. In the last year or so, I've come down a lot. I was 340 last September  (my highest weight ever).  But I've always wondered why I never lost weight faster and in greater quantities because I did what I thought were the right things. I worked out every day, walking at least a mile and even did some strength exercises for a while. But I always got discouraged not seeing any real results and I would just fade to black in that area for a while.

I'm a B bloodtype and I've been on an all chicken diet for years and would never order red meat and very rarely I'd get pork bacon or something because I was so afraid that I would get colon cancer or heart disease. I know, ignorance. But the world makes it seem like red meat is public enemy number one and as soon as you take a bite, you'll drop dead.

Every time I'd tell people I didn't eat red meat, they'd think I was lying because I'm still so fat. I'm sure they thought I was going home tearing into some steak and burgers but I wasn't and I didn't understand. I got chicken EVERYTHING. If chicken cereal had been available it would have been in my cupboard. Whenever I had salad, it was loaded with chicken (skinless chicken breast meat of course because, remember, only the healthy stuff for me). Also, every morning, I'd have two slices of whole grain, whole wheat toast, and a bowl of grits. I thought I was jumpstarting my metabolism when in fact, I was eating the worse stuff for me, chicken, whole wheat and corn. So I'm not losing any weight and if I did it was nothing substantial. So everybody's thinking I'm hallucinating about all this exercising and "cutting back" I've been doing.

Dr. D'Adamo's book and Christiano's book have validated my plight. I was doing ALL the wrong stuff. My mother's blood type is B as well and she has Multiple Scleorosis. So when I saw the books said B's were prone to autoimmune diseases such as MS, I was an instant believer. My mother doesn't walk anymore and it's so sad, that I'll do anything in my power to avoid that kind of lifestyle when I'm older. I tried to tell her about the book and unlike others, she didn't challenge me, try to discredit everthing I said, or mock me, but when I came home, she was eating a 6 piece wing dinner and she'd purchased a brand new loaf of whole grain, whole wheat bread. I was so disappointed but I realized that I have to do this for myself and I can't make everyone else ascribe to my beliefs and lifestyle. I just thought that she'd be happy about the possibility of feeling better.

Anyway, I've cut chicken completely. Now that I know it's THAT bad for me, I have no desire to have it. I just hope I'll be extended some grace on the YEARS of non-stop chicken consumption. I've been having a bowl of oatmeal with bananas in it and a glass of grape juice for breakfast. For lunch I have some sardines in olive oil and a carrot, cauliflower, broccoli mix and a glass of pineapple juice. For dinner, some type of read meat. I haven't been able to do the lamb, venison or rabbitt yet. I hope I'm headed in the right direction. I recently resigned from my job to write a book and now I've created this new expense with a more challenging grocery list but I'm determined to eat things that are good for me by any means necessary.

One quesiton, Rice Milk is listed as a Highly beneficial for me, so I bought some, but now that I'm home with it, I see one of the ingredients says Canola and/or Safflower oil, both of which are avoids. Does rice milk have differen't ingredients depending on the brand? Please advise.

Hi Livvy and welcome!!!

I was raised on chicken, corn and tomatoes so I empathize with you about wondering how much damage has been done. We can't control or change the past but we can affect The Now... and that is what I focus on in my food choices.  

I would suggest that you add a high quality animal protein to breakfast... like turkey sausage, or am omelette with sauteed onions, red bell pepper and feta cheese... or even leftover meat or fish from dinner the night before. With just grains for breakfast, I feel very fatigued or sleepy. I also love to have a dark leafy green with breakfast, like steamed broccoli or sauteed spinach... ahhh...... so good in the mornings...

Impressive story.

Why bother with rice milk ?.... get high quality dairy instead- your fellow american B´s will guide you there
- unless I misread that you are allergic to milk.
Small portions of organic whole milk  or best yoghurt will do you good and keep you mind sane
I only use ricemilk when I cook for a B/O combimeal- and prefer almond milk most days.

I agree with Kristin protein works best for me at breakfast as well- but I do have oatmeal or youghurt based breakfast a few times a week as well

Ignore the Joseph Christiano book and information. He stole the material from Dr. D and based on the number of mistakes in Christiano's book/website he clearly didn't fully understand all the material.

Welcome!
You might want to check out Dr. D.'s product called
"Deflect".
It's my understanding that if taken between
meals it helps clear up the past lectin damage we all
suffered eating the wrong foods for our blood type.

It can also be eaten with a meal that might not
be 100% compliant to ward off any damage.

Livvy, wishing you a warm welcome to BTD and the forums!!  What a wonderful world you have 'dropped into'.         So much to learn ......... it's a constant amazement.          As others have said, lead by example w/ your mom. It hurts to see our loved ones eating things that are making them worse, even when they 'see' the info or results right in front of them. Still it happens. Please dont let that discourage you. Lots of us here live w/ non-BTD'ers. Taxes my very last nerve sometimes. .
The more compliant you are, the faster you will see glowing results. Please keep us posted on those.

Good Morning Everyone! (Well, at least in Chicago)...

Thank you all for your very helpful and encouraging responses. It makes things a great deal easier when you have a place to go for support.

Lola...thank you for the boost. So I shouldn't have smoked turkey sausage in the morning?

I'm writing a fiction book - actually, it's Christian fiction and the characters have been in my head for a while. I started the book and stopped a few times, so they've just been kind of hanging in the balance and collecting unemployment. So now that I've left my job, I've put them back to work and they're happy about that.  

Margaret...the Deflect sounds great. I'm afraid to see how much it costs!

Henriette...Thanks for the advice about the milk. So you think I should just X out the rice milk altogether and continue to drink the skim milk that I've been drinking?

Kristin...The meat advice was very helpful. I used to have liver for breakfast and I loved it. I do find myself getting sleepy with only the oatmeal. I'll go buy some liver today! Also, I was in a restaurant Sunday ordering an omelette and I had a choice between feta and cheddar. Well, that was the one day I left my book at home and I picked cheddar because I knew it was neutral. What a waste of what could have been a highly beneficial meal!

I think your post is so motivating and you sound so excited. I am a newbie and my whole family thinks I have lost my mind at first, but my daughter said yesterday, mom, if this helps you then, I am all for you doing it. That made me happy. My son makes fun of me. My other daughter wants no part of it. I trick her though. I made spaghetti the other night and she ate it not knowing it was good for her. lol I left the book on the coffee table and I caught my husband looking through the book. I am reading how to Live Right 4 Your Blood Type. I am still amazed that your blood type has all the answers to your health. Guess, I was in a cave, but now I see the sunlight and it is all great. Welcom to the forum. I have received so many great ideas. It has helped me so very much to stay with the diet. All you have to do is ask for help

Thank you, Valerie. Yes family is tough. My brother just gets quiet -- eerie quiet -- when I talk about it so I know I'm annoying him. I went over another close relatives yesterday and she bought out this other book about natural cures. So I looked through it and told her that it made some good points. She said, "Yes, so you can read that book and get rid of that blood type book. I don't like that you are reading that. All it does is causes people to claim diseases. This blood type gets this and that blood type gets that." So I told her that wasn't true. It just helps you to understand yourself better and thus, make smarter choices. I told her I wasn't going to quit the BTD so we should agree to disagree.

I'll just have to keep my new lifestyle to myself. I'll wait until everyone sees the difference and asks.

Livvy, I was so encouraged by your story,  I used to be quite over weight my self, and a higher protien diet and including TR carbs intigrated into a balanced meal really helped me.  I start with my salad and protien and eat toward my carbs.  I don't seem to crave carbs through out the day when I do that.  I've lost 75 pounds and have kept them off for 6 years now.

I totally understand the family thing.  My mom has type 2 diabetes and sees the differance in be, always asks me what I,m doing,  but refuses to change.  She can hardly walk and her memory is getting really bad.  Yes, it's very hard.  All my reletives see the difference, but they just don't want to hear it.

Keep up the good work, girl.  It is an adventure, and it is a great one.  PS  I love Paula White too.

Yes, she should eat beneficial red meat at least once every day. She should also have fish several meals a week. The protein will help her lose weight. She needs protein at every meal and protein with any snacks will help too.

It is the starchy carbs from grains that she needs to be concerned about.

I'm sorry.  By TR carbs I ment Type Right carbs.  I've been doing this diet for awhile, and I agree with Don about the meat, and the fish.  I lost the most weight whenever I ate fish.  Also when I eat my meals I start with my protien first, or my salad if I'm having one, then eat toward my carbs, and when I eyeball the portions on my plate my carb portion is never bigger than my other portions.  I complete my meal within one hour, because you release insulin every hour to an hour and a half,  If you start with your protien your insulin release will be less tan if you start with your carbs, but if you go over an hour your body will release more insulin to make up for it.  Eating this way has really helped to curb the carbohydrate addiction.  It really works.

Another thing that helps is to get your carbs from fruits and vegtables instead of grain.

Don't give up.  If you have a bad day that doesn't mean it's over.  Put the past behind and press on.........Cynthia

Livvy, congratulations on your lifestyle change. You just can't convince some people that what you are doing is right. Say little about it, continue on the diet, feel and look better and they'll come to you with questions later on.

My son-in-law was quietly skeptical but I visited him a year ago when I was 6'4" and 192 lbs (232 lbs at my highest). He just kept walking around the house saying, "Man, does Howard ever look good!" He has not gone on the diet, but has started running and dropped about 20lbs, his natural competitive nature is actually working in his favour for once.

I'm still reeling from your saying that you were practically force-feeding yourself chicken and corn all these years.  Ye gods.  

I would also strongly recommend that you have the secretor test done, and that you also buy yourself either a bottle of Deflect for B's, or the entire Basics Pack, which has everything you need to really clean yourself out.

In addition to all this, I also strongly recommend that you buy a copy of Dr. D's encyclopedia, and do every possible thing that he has listed under the "antibacterial" protocol... even the "suggested" or "recommended" things, such as the rose hips.

This is because, after all this time, you are sure to have a long-dwelling backup of putrefied, bacteria-infested sludge caked up inside your bowels, which is essentially undigestable chicken and corn, among other things, which have all fermented and gone foul.  The Deflect, coupled with the antibacterial protocol, should knock that out and make you go through a much-needed period whereby you pass some really horrible-looking-and-smelling bowel movements and gas, thereby getting all that stuff out of you.
