Hi there all newbies and all you "oldbies" to the blood group diet. Well I have been on my diet for almost 3 years now. Yes i sometimes fall off the wagon, but not for a long period of time. I indulge in the odd piece of cake or a cup of coffee. But for the most part I stick to it. I dont look on it as a diet I see it as a lifestyle change... |

Hi Pamela -
I agree about the lifestyle change. That's how I view the BTD as well. |

I love my diet, too.. it is a life saver...for me it is total balance. I'm pretty much 100% compliant as of this last six months.. coffee was my last avoid to conquer..well, and the cream that I put in it. The results have been amazing. I am SO calm when I follow the BTD. All of my moodiness is G O N E! I find that meat is the key here. Beef twice a day is a must. I only eat very small portions, though. The rest of my diet is veggies. I did fall off of the wagon a few weeks ago, and it just wrecked havoc with my whole body. I got moody and my arthritis flared up big time! It was amazing how noticible the reaction was.
anyway, I LOVE the person I am on the BTD, too!!! |

I'm also a happier person on BTD; however, once and sometimes even twice per week I do indulge *bigtime* since I've discovered a Buffet style restaurant that also serves an all u can eat Sushi bar ... (downfall is that they also have lots of delicious desserts and Icecream that I also partake in afterwards ...) ... I was compliant for over three months though before I started to indulge ... ... sigh ... BUT, I jump right back on the next day by eating ALOT of beneficials and especially kefir if I eat lots of sugar Lets keep the spirit of BTD alive everybody ... our mind/body connection will love us for it !! Cheers |

After four years I can’t imagine another way of eating. I feel horrid when I go off the BTD. It is easy to give up the avoids in order to feel alive and well.

I've only been on the BTD for 4 months now, but there have been some ups and downs as I'm sure you can imagine. The biggest reason for me to be on this diet was health: after a health crisis, I realized I could either be passive and let western medicine treat the symptoms but not cure me, or, I could be actively seek out a higher level of health by changing my lifestyle.
My lifestyle is definitely changed. I'm healthy. I feel better, have fewer mood swings, and my husband told me recently that all the cellulite in my legs is gone now. (!!!) (He was quick to point out it never bothered him, but he did notice it. Good man.) |

I love my diet, too! I've been following the BTD for more than seven years, and feel so much better than I used to. I just wish I could eat as much as I wanted. I'm in the process of paring down the amount of food I eat to try to unpack some unwanted pounds. |

the great thing about the BTD is its something you can DO actively to help your body heal itself, and begin to undo the harm bad patterns formed by the typical western approach to health, medicine and 'nutrition' have created. Its incredible what our bodies can recover from, when we allow them to begin that recovery.
I felt SO bad I didn't know where to turn or what to do, if only I even had the energy to do it. visiting the doctor only made me feel more hopeless and sick. by chance I was introduced to a nutritionist who recommended a list of supplements and mentioned the BTD, only a few weeks later I can feel my energy and personality returning, I can feel my body starting to work properly again, and I feel happy to be alive!
I love my diet too! |

can you tell us what you took that made a difference? |

I will certainly try - though to keep in context my own situation I should mention that I was very weak and exhausted with ME-type symptoms (I was never diagnosed), my food was not doing anything for me and I would have 'hunger shakes' all the time despite the fact I had done everything I could to keep my diet healthy and low GI, I was also on medication for overactive thyroid.
I believe the first step to improvement was by taking a digestive enzyme complex which improved my food absorbtion noticably straight away as I had a shade more energy and mental capacity than before.
Also, I started to take a liver detox tea, which has had excellent results with many people. (In ER4YT (p249 in my copy) Dr D writes that "ME may not be an autoimmune disease at all, but rather a liver disease" - please refer to book for complete quote).
other supplements needed were: Kelp Berberis 'daily greens' Omega 3 Starflower Echinacea Spirulina Aloe Vera Sulphur Achidophilus Potassium Zinc
and I stopped taking my prescribed thyroid medication and started taking natural thyroid support capsules (I am much happier with this and have noticed no exaggerated hyperthyroid symptoms like I had before)
6 weeks on the tea and supplements coincided with 3 weeks serious attempt at the BTD and I felt so much better it was amazing. I have a feeling that the BTD played a very great part in this and am hoping I will continue to improve and not need so many supplements in the future, just keep to the diet. The only blips I am getting now is when I am tempted to eat fruit - usually when I read that something contains beneficial substances - my energy goes way down - I think this is because I have a bit of a candida problem too and and now am looking into Dr D's protocols to see if I can adjust what I am taking to help get rid of it.
well, that was a bit long................you can all wake up now! |

Ha Ha here in the UK we are very behind on all this stuff - even the people in the Health Food Shop have started to look at me in a strange way when I ask about products and remedies, they must dread me coming in - thankfully the internet allows me to load up my credit card with minerals, potions and veggie culture starters! |

The diet has also changed my life immeasurably.
Before the diet, I'd struggled with numerous allergies all my life, very, very low energy, irritability, and unpredictable diarrhea for 21 years.
After starting the diet, my diarrhea essentially stopped within the first week, largely to what I attribute as the intake of minimally-cooked, lean read meat. It's incredibly powerful stuff. |

I use kefir in many ways Either as a substitute to buttermilk in bread and pancakes. Plain as a drink in the afternoon. Blended with fruit and honey in the morning and a special day: Kefir blended with fresh strawberrries , sweetner ( honey, maple sirup sugar or ( - just before you are done- add a bit of cream BUT don´t blend it or it will turn to butter Serve ICE cold. yum BTW I have lived this lifestyle 8 years today My life has changed a lot - lost 15 kg no allergies, no ear aches, no acid reflux My O daughter improvements are even better: Untill she was- 5 years, she had a horrible eczema on her cheeks and LOTS of constipation- today she is 13- very healthy -never sick |

Great attitiude, violet.
This is a lifestyle change and not a fad diet that one goes 'on and off'. The premise of this lifestyle can be applied to one's own individualistic eating and lifestyle nuances as they continue through their life at every stage.

kefir produces fermentation, like yogurt. |

I've been seriously following the BTD since October 2004 (3 year anniversary coming up soon!). There have been a lot of bumps in the road to good health, but every struggle has taught me something I couldn't have found out any other way--so those tough times were a blessing and a gift in disguise.
I cannot imagine going back to eating the way I did before. Most definitely, this is not a fad diet Alia--I totally agree. This is a lifestyle, and a fantastic one. I eat better now than EVER before in my entire life. I love the way I eat now! |
