Hello all,

I'm just a newbie to the whole BTD thing and I've been trying it as much as I can (I live at home with my parents so dinner times can be a bit hard to eat right for my type!). I was wondering how soon people started to feel a difference?

I've been trying heaps of different foods that I normally wouldn't eat (like tofu and buckwheat noodles) and I'm quite enjoying it.

The thing is, I've been feeling brighter in my mood, clearer in my head and more awake (less tired too!)  than I have for ages. I've only really been trying the diet for 3-4 days... Is this too soon to be feeling a difference, especially when I've not been totally strict or is it more a placebo effect?

The reason I ask is that for dinner last night and breakfast today I ate non-type A foods and have felt heaps tired today. Is it all in my head?

I'm really interested to hear people's opinon on this.

Thanks!

Jules.

Welcome to the fourm!

It's different for everybody.  Depends on how much lectin damage you have, what health issues you are dealing with.

The more bennies you can eat, the better off you will be.  Best of luck to you Jules, and please keep us posted on how you are doing.

It is different for everybody, psychologically, physically, emotionally, etc. each person will go at their own pace. Depends also on the state of your health when you started. For me I noticed less bloating and no gas within 24 hours, with in 4 days I had lost about 4 lbs, though I was not really eating fewer calories, just getting them from different foods. Suggest drinking lots of water through the day, and, as above, as many beneficials as you can handle.

When living with others not on BTD it can be tricky. My way around it was too simply offer to cook the meals. My wife hates cooking, we save money by eating out less, and I always throw in some potatoes on the side to keep her happy; I don't eat them myself. Sounds like you have already started to experience some positive responses from your body. Keep up the good work!!!

Hi Jules -

I'm only a 10-weeker but I definitely felt results during the first week.  Just felt better and had a clearer head.  As I went along and eliminated different things (like wheat and dairy) I noticed I didn't have any more gas attacks in the afternoon (a major issue for me).  My co-worker was pleased.

I'm still experimenting with adding and eliminating foods.  Probably will be for quite some time.  I find it all about what personally works for you.  You sound like you're doing well so far!

anneofjulie, wishing you a warm welcome to BTD and the forums!!
You could def be feeling better within a few days. I had lots of things improve in the first week. I went cold turkey and removed everything from my diet I wasn't supposed to have and saw results really quickly.
You are on a good road............keep walking it, you'll never be sorry.

Hello and welcome
I had some digestive health issues when I started the BTD,  when I got on the right track I started to feel better right away then got a little sick for a few weeks and after that the benefits really started to shine though.
you simply have to be your own person and eat whatís right for you and the benefits will come your way. If you have Dr. D's books read them and follow the life style described for your BT the diet is not only about what you eat it's also about exercise and mentally being prepared for a healthy way of living.
I found that yoga and exercise gives the diet the extra punch to a better way of well being..
enjoy your new way of taking care of your self.. I sure do

May I ask what digestive health issues u had ?

The reason I ask is 'cause, I'm  still experimenting burping even though I've been and continue to be compliant for a little over two months now ... I still wake up with a pasty bitter taste in my mouth every single morning ... sigh ... and my eyes  r still kind of bloodshot and although it's  ALOT less than before, I would still like to get rid of all my symptoms !!

Thank-u  Rodney

For me it was a gradual thing.  Over a period of about 6 months I noticed my strength increasing.  Like Rodney, I first felt much better right away, and then felt miserable within a month.  It does take time to feel your greatest.

Hi Jules,
I felt better from the beginning, but I noticed that certain things had faster results than others.  For example, pre-BTD, I had been eating lots of tofu and staying away from dairy.  I had chronic sinus congestion and inflammation during that time.

I stopped soy and added yogurt and the next day my sinuses were clear.  I have not had a sinus infection since!

My digestive healing has been a slower process, being more of a steady improvement instead of a sudden one.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me not pass you by in quest
of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

There was a noticeable difference in my health within a week of going high-compliance. I started sleeping through the night for the first time in years, my legs didn't hurt as much, my joints began to ache less, and my mind was sharper, more focused. Within a month I was walking the distance to the mailbox and back easily (about 1000 feet roundtrip) whereas before I couldn't even get a quarter of the way without having to rest.

As you continue on the BTD you'll see changes of all kinds, large and small. It's an amazing journey. Glad to have you with us

Welcome to the forum, anneofjulie,

It has been awhile since I started this lifestyle, so I do not recollect my inititial feelings; however, I do believe that once once starts to eat 'cleaner', avoid food items do appear more problematic to one's body through various indicator bodily signs of lethargy, irritability, digestive challenges, bloating, et al.

Hello, Anne of Julie!

Congratulations on starting this new chapter in your life.  I hope it's a wonderful journey for you.

I'm new to the BTD too - but like you started seeing a difference in just a few days.  After a little over a week I've managed to drop about 5 lbs without even trying.  Pretty cool, if you ask me!

The biggest thing I'm noticing is no allergy symptoms.

I keep waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop, but.....I haven't taken an antihistamine for any of the past 8 days; stopped taking decongestants 4 days ago; haven't had to break out the Tylenol for headaches; and have only been using the neti pot to wash out nasal pollens maybe once or twice a day, instead of six to fourteen times a day.  And still, there are no allergy symptoms.  I'd kind of like to break out in a great big "hooray!" about that, but am afraid perhaps lightning will strike....so am waiting awhile, maybe a month or two, before doing the "no more allergies for me!" happy dance.

the lemon water tip first thing in the morning will help you detox, too.

Hi Jules!  Good to have you onboard!

I'm pretty new myself: I'm starting my 3rd week on BTD today

I know I still need to do a lot of finetuning - that can only come with lots of experience - but I'm already seeing some good signs of how this is really working for me.

The most incredible thing is my head feels light and clear: I hadn't realised that it wasn't normal to have a foggy brain all the time.  I was just assuming that I needed to catch up on a lot of sleep.  The fact that things didn't seem to improve even after an 8 or 9 hour night sleep didn't ring an alarm bell...

Within a day or two of eliminating avoids I felt the difference: it's better than getting a new pair of glasses! (well, I'm shorsighted: glasses do matter to me  )  I seem to be living in a different world, where everything is clearer, better defined, crisper: wonderful!

I've also lost 2 kg without trying too hard: I'm careful with my portions in the sense that I listen to my body and stop eating when I'm not hungry any more rather than carrying on stuffing my face.  But I also eat more often, smaller meals - more like snacks: it seems to suit me.  Because of the type of foods that I'm eating I don't feel deprived at all and those terrible sugar cravings have gone.  And if I really want something sweet I'm happy with fruit or a spot of maple syrup.

Having said that, I've still got a long way to go, but I feel so encouraged by these early positive signs and by the way I'm already feeling that there's no way I'm going back!

Do keep telling us how you're doing: it's great to have good company on the road and to be able to support one another!

As was mentioned before, chlorophyll really helps with detox (at least with us As), as does the lemon juice/water in the morning.

And as was mentioned before, finetuning may be necessary.  For example, I just discovered something startling with soy milk, which I'm supposed to be able to just chug down.  But I'm noticing that all day long if I've had any soy milk, I have a white yucky coating on my tongue that doesn't brush off.  So I'm going to lay off the soy milk for a while.

It only took me a couple of days to be feeling brain-fog-free too, after beginning the BTD.  I felt absolutely amazing for a few months then I slowly dwindled to feeling "regular" (which is different from "normal," which was really "aweful.")  I recently found out I'm a non-secreter, and have improved some.  Still finetuning, though.  Been feeling sluggish lately.  Of course, being 8 1/2 months pregnant doesn't help.

Keep up the good work, all you newbies--it's so good to hear success stories.  Makes me relive my first days.  It's like falling in love.

As a type O, I would not try a detox with chlorophyl.  Virtually all chlorophyls are made from alfalfa.  Cholera (sp?) would be a better choice, or Harmonia or Live Cell O from NAP.
