It’s time to post my success with the BTD but feel if you know some about me may help you understand why I am now with the BTD way of living. I was born in 1958 in rural Oregon and have been healthy all of my childhood and into young adulthood. I was raised to eat meat, potatoes, vegetables, grains, eggs, drink milk and eat cheese. Just like we were taught in school with the pyramid diet of eating well rounded meals with candy and sugars being the rewards when I was a good kid. Fast forward to my mid 20’s I was on my own and still kept the same eating habits and felt I was doing a good job eating ok with the exception of eating from the fast food joint that were popping up everywhere in the 80’s and beyond. The start of my chronic health conditions now started to be an issue: sinus infections, IBS and prostate infections would flare up all the time and I for the most part lived with the conditions until the pain or sickness would get so bad that I would go to an MD. I really never got much relief from the MD’s, for the most part they would say I am too young to have prostate problems and I pretty much got shinned on and sent out the door. Now it’s the late 90’s and I got REAL sick with prostatitis, this is what it took for the MD to say oh you really do have a problem don’t you! This set the wheels in motion for me to get this figured out and get healed but what do I do? I was on antibiotics for about a year to kick the infection but I was still sick and by now my immune system was so down I would catch any little bug that would come along. One day while at work I heard an advertisement from a ND claiming to help with problems that the MD’s couldn’t so I called and made my first appointment with an ND. After my first visit with John, he ordered several tests and the results for heavy metals were off the chart so John recommended IV chealations and lots of supplements. I did this for couple years and 20 chealations later I got to feeling much better and since John moved away I was on my own again and felt I had everything under control. It’s now 2004 and my prostate was flaring up again and the IB was bothering me so off to find another ND for some help. I found one local so thought I had everything under control again. The ND recommended some more supplements and insisted I get on the BTD. This was the first I had head of the diet so though why now I am open to new things and would do just about anything to feel better again. Since I didn’t know my BT she did a test in the office and determined I was a B + to sent me home with a list of foods for type B. Well if you don’t know me {and I guess you don’t} the first thing I did once I got home was to study the list of foods and Jump right in and get started to better health. I went in the kitchen and literally tossed out foods that were avoids {and that the wife didn’t eat} I tossed a lot of good food out and started shopping for my B diet. I was excited to think I was finally on the path to better health but after a few months on the diet and studying more on the BTD I was getting discouraged and skeptical of the this way of eating and was missing foods I have eaten all of my life. So I slowly went back to eating whatever but was eating healthier than before the first try with the BTD. I didn’t give up on finding a diet because I was about 35 – 40 pounds overweight so I gave the low carbs diet a try and ate meat, meat and more meat in doing so I cut a lot of fiber from my diet but wasn’t really paying attention to that a lot because I was losing the pounds. Then in late 2006 I woke up one morning with a killer pain in my left lower abdomen so off to the MD to get checked out. After a 2500 $ CT scan they determined I had diverticulitis so I was back on antibiotics for 10 days this time but felt I should go back to my ND for a second opinion since the MD’s were telling me all sorts of horror stories about surgery & potty bags. My ND got me on some good supplements to help me and ask if I have been on the BTD since I last saw her? I told her NO that I didn’t feel it was for me but she insisted I got back on it and that the low carb diet was defiantly not for me and probably brought on the diverticulitis attack. Well OK I said and off I went back home to toss out more food and go shopping again for the right foods for my BT. By this time my wife thinks I have totally lost it but is always supportive in her own way and just watched me give it another try. This time I fired up the computer {which I should have done long before} and started to really study my tummy problem, diet, diets and the BTD. Everything I read about the BTD sounded like it should be doing the trick for me but it didn’t last time so what’s wrong? Scenes I was not convinced the BTD was worth its salt I was still borrowing the books from our library to study. After really getting into the books and following the BTD forums I was trying to understand what was going on with me? Something started tugging at me that I may not be type B and if this diet really works and foods really effect a person’s body as all of Dr. D’Adamo’s studies show then it should work. I got a BT test kit coming from NAP and some supplements for all BT’S since I was coming down with something figured I had better start doing something more. The test arrived in a few days and here I was playing Dr. and poking holes in my finger to find that my test read AB +! Well so now what do I do? Thanks to the help of all of the good people in BTD forum I was prompted to give blood at Red Cross to find out for positive what BT I am. By luck they were going to be in town in a few days so I was scheduled. By this time I was already starting to eat for AB but before that I was aggressively eating for a type B and was eating just about every avoid for an AB. What was really killing we was the cayenne pills the ND was having me eat 3 times / day to help fix my gut. Oh I was miserable with lower bowel paint and IB again but was doing what I was told and sticking with it. I called the Red Cross the next week to find my BT was truly AB+ OH BOY now I know what has been wrong for several years, I was on the WRONG diet. But by this time from the sickness a few week earlier and possibility of eating the wrongs foods for my BT I came down with phenomena and was sick for several weeks. I was now on the AB diet and doing my best to do everything else to get healthy again and slowly started to feel improvement but was really weak so it took until just about now to really say you know what this BTD works and I proved to myself it dose by being on the wrong diet and how much it didn’t work. Along with the BTD and finding out I have a sensitivity to eggs and most dairy and walnuts I have in just the last week felt better than I have in so many years I can’t remember. The BTD may not be the silver bullet for everyone looking to find good health but I would sure give it a shot. I still have a long way to go but I now have the confidence to say I know what I am doing and where I am headed, I now own LR4YT and ER4YT and am looking to get the others. Positive benefits for me: Not sick Stomach pain gone IB and pain down their gone Arthritis much better Sinus clear {I taste things again} More energy Better sleep Thinking much clearer Not hungery all the time A more peaceful feeling of well being. {that’s so nice} Weight loss: I now weigh 208 as of this morning down 10 lbs in a few months The list could go on and on
Next steps are exercise program and some sort of meditation exercises.
Thank you all so much for helping me, you can’t give any better gift than good health & I couldn’t have done it without you. May God bless you all.

And poor Rodney, what a journey it has been!!! As you say, you are well on your way to health. Good thing you are such a good listener and then follower, a second time around. A lot of people wouldn't have given it a 2nd chance. Glad you did!! And quite a nice and interesting addition to the forum as well. |

Thanks for putting all that down, It's amazing that you had the persistence to figure out that you were working on the wrong blood type.
I hear you about not being hungry all the time, I don't know if its just us AB's in particular or any blood type, but both my brother (also AB) and I were hungry all the time. He thought he was malnourished as a teenager! |

I'm not poor anymore Pat Yes Marianne the hunger thing is sure nice to have under control. Not that I don't get hungry, now when I feed that hunger it is satisfied and I know I am doing the right thing {well most of the time}. a few commented on persistence: Yes I am that kind of a person, I don't like things left undone, at work or projects at home. After seeing that my health was not getting better on its own or how I was taking care of myself that was the last straw. If I can fix a car, build a fence, plant a tree and watch it grow then why am I not giving my body the same respect and consideration. We have all of the information before us if we can just filter out the things that don't pertain to us and implement the ones that do and keep adjusting as our body changes how can we not win. All's I had to really do was to put me first for a while since it was screaming at me that there was something wrong I had to listen and take action. The books Dr. D. has written should be considered the owners manual for the human body, anyone willing to open their minds and read I feel can do it. It is sad that we are just learning this but it is never too late for better health. I usually never read posts as long as the one I wrote let alone write one this long but felt it necessary, and if it helps one person to try the BTD and benefit from it this is my way of paying back everyone who helped me. |

What a journey! - thanks for sharing- good that you found out your true BT Interesting enough - my dad was tested B in the army- but later he found out he as an AB as well- sadly enough he didn´t live long enough to benefit from this knowledge- however I always thought he was more an AB than a weirdo B |

Thanks for telling your story, Rodney, that just bolsters my confidence in BTD overall. marianne, I was hungry all the time before BTD, too. Getting the right stuff in me - and Mr. OSuzanna says the same - has gotten rid of that nagging 'gotta snack' feeling. Our bodies were just begging for the right foods for us! Now I feel deeply peaceful after eating compliantly. |

Thanks Rodney for writing your story. I have been reading a lot about the BTD and have come to realize the food I eat is really the root to my health problems.
I get excited when I read these books about Blood type diet, etc. I tell my husband all about it. I have mentioned to him, he should read the books, etc. He too, has diverticulitis, just had his gall bladder removed 10 days ago. 6 years ago this April, open heart surgery. We are too young for these problems. And think our diet has caused these problems!
I printed off your testimonal for his to read. I hope this will help him to realize what is going on with his health and diet.
Again, Thanks Rodney |

WOW!!
What a true testament to the benefits of BTD. I am sooo glad you are seeing great changes and have stuck with BTD thorough the trials! I am sure you will see greater and greater benefits, but the list you already made is wonderful!!
Thanks so much for sharing your experience, I'm sure there are many who will find inspiration from your words and will try BTD as a result!
If you don't mind, I will be sharing your story with some people I know. I really think it will help them see the benefits of BTD. |

Rodney - I'm so very happy for you. How long have you been here? I think we joined about the same time. Around Jan 1, 2007. It's been nice watching your progress. Does DW eat for her BT? She must be impressed and so proud of your endurance. (not sure my DH sees my improvement, but I can sure tell. Used to have whole days when I couldn't raise my head from my pillow) And doesn't it feel wonderful to be able to breath and taste - not to mention the relief from sinus pain. Maybe I missed this - did you do the secretor test.? (a big dif for A's - maybe not so for other types) Telling your story will help others and is a grt way to remind yourself how it was befor. (I try to do that when I get down) Good Job |
