Greetings...again. I have been absent for about 3 months and wanted to let everyone know that I am still alive and doing well. Things got so busy around the holidays that I never found the time to get back on. As some of you may remember, I was new to the BTD when I disappeared. Thanksgiving dinner, leftovers, Christmas, and too many Bowl Game/Championship/New Year's parties to recall set me back a bit, but I'm back on the straight and narrow now. I recall a post in October or so where a very wise person wrote that you can't "fall off the wagon" I agreed with that post 100% at the time and I will go and find it right after I post this to refresh my memory....but I fell hard. I was eating burgers and baked potatoes and I think I even had a steak in there once. I felt horrible and fat and foggy all the time, but I am back now!! I have been 95% compliant for the last 2 weeks or so and I feel much better already. It's good to be back! |

Glad to see you back, Page. It's amazing how easy it is to be "bad" and at the same time amazing how great we feel when compliant ... "good". That should make it easier, but not always.
I noticed the NTAP at the end of your post and assume that means all is well. I'm on day 225 today and lovin' it! |

Congratulations on day 225!! Today is my 3rd month and 3rd day without a cigarette or any nicotine replacement device. It's amazing! I quit cold turkey and didn't really experience weight gain. Just a few pounds that I attribute to the horrible holiday feasts (yum) and those few pounds are already gone. What can I say...I'm from a traditional southern family. Meat and potatoes. Fried Chicken and cornbread. The ham isn't bad enough, let's fry it before eating!! Sweet potato pie, pecan pie, pumpkin pie. The only salad I ate was of the potato variety. |

Very good about the smoking and nicotine. I must say I wasn't as fortunate on the poundage. I gained about 15 all said and done (have quit gaining at least). I'm not letting it worry me, though. I will lose it soon enough. I need to be working out more, but I am getting my 3 miles in every morning. Yes, even yesterday when it was 15 degrees according to my thermometer here in the ATL (Atlanta area). I can only imagine what it would've been if it weren't for that cute little (okay, 45 pound) puppy (okay, dog) of mine needing her walk.... tired puppy = good puppy ! She's a year and a half and we are just now "crate-breaking" her. So far, 2 weeks tomorrow, she has been a perfect little angel. Hasn't chewed the couch once. And I hear ya about the southern food thing. Luckily my parents leaned more towards the "healthy hippie" liestyle and didn't/don't fry everything. |
