Friends, I've been BTD compliant for a month now. Suffice to say that "I can see clearly..." is my theme song these days! The health & well being benefits have been pretty amazing, and the real test would be to see what my blood tests throw up this time-viz a viz cholesterol. Initially I wanted to go for my blood test today, but then I thought I'll get it done on the 28th, coz that would make it 1 month since I got back to my exercise schedule.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for being very supportive and encouraging, and I hope to continue with this new change in my life style.

I'll post once I get my blood test & results done. I dont have serious health issues other than the startlingly high cholesterol, pre BTD of course.

Hi accidental chef,

Glad to know you are felling very good.

When one does not have a serious or inconvenient illness it is hard to explain the benefits of BTD. But it is obvious that there is an improvement in the sense of well being. Glad you felt it.

Dr. Atkins recommended his patients to test for cholesterol six weeks after starting diet. He mention that the body was under great changes and so the results had a chance of not being acurate. His diet produces far more changes in the body than BTD, especially the ketosis, but after six weeks he generally obtained good cholesterol results from patients. I wonder if it would be better for you to wait for 6 weeks.

Well done and I hope you continue feeling better and better. I look forward to knowing about your cholesterol results.

My Friends!
!!!!

I got my blood test results!!!!! Drum roll pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!

Total Cholesterol 240.2 (from 300 previously)
Triglycerides 65.6 (from 77.1 previously)
HDL 53 (from 45 previously)
LDL 173.9 ( from 232 previously)
Total Ratio 4.6 (from 6.6 previously)

Previously I was a vegetarian with a good exercise programme. Now I've switched to a BTD compliant diet and continuing with my exercise programme. The results are simply, simply amazing! I'm getting a second copy of the LR4YT, gift wrap it and give it to my doctor who always wanted me to go on medication, which of course turned me into a zombie with an attitude !

And without everyone's support here-when best to eat starchy veggies, get rid of the oats, say no to the grains, have more protein in the morn & afternoon, cheer leading-my God! you guys are God send, and God bless the good Dr D immensely!

Susana, I couldnt wait for 6 weeks, coz I knew there was an incredible change inside me-mentally & physically...so I had to go check it out before I died of anxiety!

The "recommended cholesterol reading" says below 200 for *everyone*, but I know that we Os can afford to have slightly higher cholesterol. Really though, do the above readings indicate healthy range? Am I ok?

Waiting to hear from y'all!

Wow accidental chef-
good results
You are asking abou the healthy range
- are you aware of the cholesterol sceptic docs- around the world?
Not everybody agree on the cholestrol / saturated fat-heart disease connection- and the no risk of taking medication.
Look here: he is a quite known doctor :

around 200 or less would be even better, I think.
