One year, the boss announced everyone had to get a flu shot. That year I got the flu. Next year, the same announcement, being an "A" that follows the rules, I got the shot and again I got the flu. No more shots for me!! And I have not had the flu since! (fifteen years later.) |

I got a flu shot, and a poo-mone-ya shot several weeks ago. Per Dr. D's suggestion, I also plan on getting an additional flu shot in a couple of weeks.
Ribbet, I understand your caution about immunizing your children; I'm sure you came to that decision after much deliberation.
As a Boomer, I remember actually having measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, as well as lining up for the Salk Vaccine administered in a sugar cube with the rest of our community. I also remember the absolute sense of relief that the horrible effects of polio were going to be a thing of the past.
Love,
Myra. |

It truly is amazing how much knowledge we have gained about innoculations. There are many times I too wonder, if that is what affected my health so badly. Most of us will probably never know.
I have met so much opposition when I tell people I have gotten sick with the flu shot. It is nice to see others agreed with me, that they did too, but unfortunate it happened to them as well. Wishing all of you continued good health. Dale |

I work at a school and am encouraged each year to get a flu shot but I never do and I can only remember being sick one time with the flu. I usually joke around and say, "What, and give up a perfectly good sick day?" I also think that the elderberry keeps my immune system strong. |

I got the flu shot 4 of the last 5 years. The only time I didn't I received one from a naturopath I knew. Yep, I got the flu, over the holidays, that year! Go figure. Yes, I got one this year. |

I have nver had the shot and I don´t think I will. Here it is mainly people over 60 that are adviced to get it. My grandma B got really sick from it - so she decided not to have it agin- while my dad AB had it with no problem. I think it is an unnatural way the world is going- now we can´t even "afford" to be sick once in a while ???? I would say yes to the shot if I was seriously cronic ill- but othervice I think it is unhealthy. |

Interesting PT! I take 2 of Dr. D's Proberry capsules every day and more if I feel like I'm coming down with something. I love the stuff! Jane |

I experimented after missing the flu shot that year it was not widely available and not getting sick as much that winter.
When I take the shot I have more general illness, starting about 6 weeks after the shot. When I don't take the shot, I don't get sick as often. I do have a compromised immune system (from Epstein-Barr and other illnesses).
Jucelino Nobrega -- a "seer" from Brazil -- says that the bird flu will hit Brazil Between September 19, 2006 and Nov. 26th, 2007.
He says that in 2011 the bird flu virus will mutate and take hold world-wide, killing 800 million people. MAYBE I'll get a flu shot that year, but I doubt it will help.
In order to survive experts are recommending that people should go inside and not come out of their houses for three months once it starts to spread. |

Here in the UK the shot is generally only offered to old people and those that are vulnerable due to other health issues... Imagine my surprise when I received an internal email at work offering the flu shot to all our 8000+ staff in the UK... The penny dropped eventually - Jan/Feb/March is our busiest time and they would sooner pay for 8000+ peole to get immunised than not have enough people working to get through the ridiculous work load... As for me I am not having one...if I get ill I will have worked plenty hard before and after to deserve my time in bed...not that I plan on getting ill |

Don't get the flue or any type of vaccine shots they contain a preservative with 49% mercury. Hmm could this be contibuting to the increase in Autism. Ahhh I think so. Read the book Evidence of Harm I forget the author's name but when you read it you will be pissed at how this country coverups harm and protects big money machines like drug companies. |

Type B's are more prone to SIDS? I hadn't read that. I keep reading SIDS articles about brain swelling and a mysterious inability of the infant to wake up when he's not getting enough air, but they never address what CAUSES the problem in the first place. Anybody who's done a little research on immunizations knows that shots can cause brain swelling (as is evident by the high-pitched screaming and holding the head if they're old enough).
Another excellent book specifically about the DPT is "DPT: A Shot in the Dark." It'll get you all worked up about the horrors of not only mercury but other toxins they put in the shots but blindly deny problems of. I got a free copy of Parenting Magazine yesterday and was reading about a new vaccine they're just coming out with, and on the back of the page listed under "a partial list of ingredients" was aluminum. They didn't list mercury (now that they've taken it out "as a precaution"), but it still contains aluminum! My husband watched in amusement as I tossed the magazine in the garbage and fumed, "Every article in that magazine is the complete opposite of what we believe." He said, "Let's call it the Bad Parenting Magazine."

I have heard that getting it regularly contributes to alzheimers! Who knows? All this is a motivation to keep healthy! I got it only once that I remember at age 21 (or almost) & got a sore arm & was very tired. We were supposed to get a booster, but I just couldn't do it!
The recommend it for over age 55. I better not tell my age too loudly, altho I don't hide it normally!
Oh, certain chiropractors are accused of saying not to get the shot & that only adjusting can prevent the flu. I don't believe that, but believe many healthy habits can help. However, the shot proponents use that as an excuse to say to get the shot. They should say that the chiros are not gods & shouldn't make such claims. But surely, that doesn't mean the shot is safe!! It probably would if the vaccine has any mercury preservative in it. |

I got the flu the last time in Feb. 1983. I think the time before that was 1973. Diet works!! Hey Tina! I thought you were a relative newbie & here I read 500 posts! Wow! I'm glad you are enjoying the board. I love it, too!
