All my life I have had dry, scaly skin on my lower legs as well as very thick, cracking, peeling skin on my heels (ugh!). I thought I would be stuck with this till I died. . . .after six months being fairly compliant on the O diet, though really not 100% to be honest, the skin on my legs is smooth and pretty, and the heel problems are gone. This, my friends, is a miracle. Cathy |

I noticed those improvements, too. Isn't it wonderful how making some great choices has such an impact of our health that actuallay shows up in our skin? WOW!!!!! If the skin looks so good, just imagine what is going on with the rest of the body. |

I, too, have noticed that my skin is not as dry since starting the BTD. I haven't changed lotions or anything else so I have to attribute it to the healthy way I'm eating! Also, I have very fair skin and have never tanned well (now trying to minimize exposure since we Os are high on the skin cancer list) but I have noticed that the little bit of tan I got this summer is not fading like in the past. By this time, most of the color I may have gotten is almost gone. Not this year....anyone else notice anything like this? |

Maybe your skin has more circulation, less dead cells and has more color, not necessarily"tan" but color. I notice the better I eat the more color to my skin, even though I get very little sunlight and always wear sunscreen. I even notice pink on my cheeks, that has not been there in years, due to my dietary changes on the BTD. My mom is an "O" and has constant skin problems, she is now on the BTD and seeing improvement daily. Good luck and health to you. |

I noticed this too. Even after applying facial moisturizer at night, when I wake in the morning, my forehead would be creased. But since BTD I notice that the lines have gone! Also, my palms are getting slightly ruddy...interesting!

I have not really noticed much in the dryness going away, but like CJisAB, I have much more coloring in my face. Smoother coloring too, not the blotchy coloring that I would get sometimes pre-BTD. I especially notice it after eating a meal with lots of red meat. I don't know if it is because of eating the meal, or the circulation from making the meal but either way, it is nice to have a youthful glow I really am looking forward to seeing what helpertouch (Cathy) noticed, especially the feet. No more snagging the rug with my bare feet Sandy O |

helpertouch and CJisAB, I just wanted to wish you both a warm welcome to BTD and the forum. Aren't they both just great!!! The people here are as well and so much info! I too notice a huge change in my skin on BTD. Feet and hands were always dried and cracking and like sandy mentioned, snagging on things. Good compliance on BTD took right care of that! I also, like mentioned, noticed my face skin looking much better. not so blotchy like before and no puffy spots right under the sides of my lips. Geez do these little things add the years to your looks! |

CJisAB, I think I do have more "color" in general but the tan I'm talking about is on my feet. I wear flip-flops when I ride the lawn tractor and the tan-lines are still VERY noticable. My fair skin usually fades within a month or so of no sun........and let me tell you, I haven't been out in my flips for a while now, it's been a chilly fall! |

This is one of my ongoing concerns on this diet. I think I look better when I eat right but have never trusted that meat is good for anything except my metabolism. Is meat aging or anti aging? |

If the meat is beneficial per your lists, then it will be anti-aging - as it will be medicinal for you. Of course, there ways of preparing meat (or other high protein foods) that are better or worse... Charring a piece of meat over a BBQ will add AGEs(Advanced Glycation Endproducts) and while the meat may be beneficial, the charred part will subtract from that... A search for "Advanced Glycation Endproducts" will provide ample explanation on the topic... Since most meat is avoid for me, it would be aging for me... |
