I got quite a shock this week when I was working on my hair. For years I've had quite a streak of white above my temple and white hairs were getting quite pronounced throughout, too. Well, there aren't any striking white hairs on my head! Even looking up close everything is varying shades of brown.
The biggest change to my diet is the addition of the flax seed oil and the lecithin. The flax seed oil is a beneficial and the lecithin is a neutral for O's. I've also increased my fruit consumpation daily by making and drinking my smoothie which incorporates the flax seed oil and lecithin with fruits and fruit juice.
I've said it before and will say it again. Thanks to the BTD I'm feeling and looking younger and now, I'm also looking even younger yet, too. This is fun! Almost 60 and turning BROWN! |

Mrs T.,
The white hair I have reverts back to brown when I follow ER and take supplements, but I don't know which supplements are responsible for it. I just know that when I stop, the white comes back again.

Speaking of hair colour, my hair, which was becoming VERY grey, has coloured up considerably since starting to take the supps for the cardiovascular protocol. My hair has been a good barometer over the years of how healthy my body is on the inside. I have watched it turn quite white overnight when I have fallen ill in years past, and then slowly return to some hint of colour as health returned. I keep looking in the mirror at this soft brownish colour that is appearing around my face and marvelling at this sudden change, which I never expected to see again.

I remember one of the regular posters on the old board back in 2001 mentioning that her gray hair was disappearing via the BTD. |

I just got back from my prolotherapy shots. While there I asked my ND what might be causing the hair color reversal and he thinks it has to do with the B-6 shots I get. Whatever the cause, I'm delighted. It is another outward expression of inward health. |

Traditional Chinese Medicine states weak kidney energy (perhaps low adrenals? ) as the main cause of graying hair. As the kidneys are nourished and healed, hair color returns.
BTD would certainly be a healer of all organ systems. |

I heard somewhere that the lack of trace minerals in the soil causes our food to be deficient and therefore affects our hair. |

I heard this was the cause also. Many years ago when I was looking at doing the Juice Plus capsules. I have inquired about which mineral it is from the girl I went with to the people who work at Juice Plus. No one seems to know. That's pretty strange given that the people at JP don't know. Seems it was Boron, but I for sure am not sure, nor even close to sure. Would be VERY interested to know since the color returning to my hair seems to come straight from a long pointy plastic thing. Of course, even if my color did come back, it wouldn't be red. Then again, if I had no gray, I might not be SO tempted to color. |

TCM is an ancient and complex medical system, and I apologize for abbreviating too much.
Ideally you need a balance of Yin (moistening, nourishing and cooling) herbs with Yang (strengthening, concentrating, energizing and heating) herbs. You should not take yang herbs without the balance of yin, or you can become overly heated and dry. Most people would buy one of the formulas from a company like Plum Flower, which sells excellent pre-made blends.
However, for our needs, here are some tonics that are said to feed the Kidney Jing. (vital essence or life force)
Strongly essence (Jing) tonics:
polygonum (Ho Sho Wu) yin Cordyceps yin and yang Lycium (Wolfberry) yin Schizandra (not to be used if cancer is present) balanced jing Steamed Rehmannia yin Deer Antler (pantocrin) yang and yin Asparagus Root yin Dendrobium (orchid) yin Epimedium yang Eucommia Bark (rubber tree) yang with yin
Moderate essence (Jing) tonics....primarily Chi (energy) tonics:
Siberian Ginseng chi and balanced jing; good adrenal tonic Gynostemma (Jiaogulan) balanced jing American Ginseng yin and chi |

I suspect that loss of hair color is like a lot of other problems (headaches, for example) -- how to cure it depends on what's causing the problem. There are several nutrients that are said to contribute to healthy hair color -- Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), Biotin, Copper, and probably a host of others.

That's an excellent point, Sharon -- the natural color returning to your hair is not just a cosmetic issue! It's also a sign that your body now has something it needs that it was lacking for a while. Same thing goes for fingernails becoming strong enough to grow long, skin becoming supple and well hydrated so that wrinkles don't show as much, and so on. It's easy to forget that a lot of these changes reflect our general health of several months past. If I notice that my fingernails have stopped breaking, for example, the relevant question would be what changes did I make about six months ago? |

That's interesting. I am coloring my hair now, because I wanted something different. But I will check when the color outgrows again and see if my greys are leaving as well (did have some, but not too many). |

Just a head's up for those of you coloring your hair: There is a pretty strong connection between the darker shades of hair dye and Lymphoma. So if you are using the dark commercial dyes, maybe consider the natural dyes from the natural foods stores. Jackie Kennedy died of Lymphoma, and there was a lot of talk at the time of her use of dark hair dyes. A year later, my husband died (in the late '90's), also from Lymphoma, and he had been a devoted user of hair dye, since he had grayed early in life. |

I just started coloring my hair every few months last year at age 57 3/4. I like the dark colors. How dangerous is it? I don't mind some gray showing, but decided finally to start coloring. I kept putting it off & am glad I did. Believe it or not, my former chiro suggested "Just for Men" & it works OK. It fades with washing, not growth as they claim, but I have fine hair & it is geared for coarse hair. How much danger am I in? Mrs "T" O+
