I've been on the BTD for about one year now. I have lost about 30 pounds and feel great. Had my blood work done recently: Total is 194 HDL=78 LDL=106 and Triglycerides are 52 The last time I had this done, the total was 245 - don't remember the HDL/LDL, but I know the LDL was really high. I'm giving all the credit to BTD - back when it was 245 (cholesterol that is), I had just hit my goal weight at Weight Watchers and *thought* I was in great shape. Here is a question: I thought that having high HDL results was a good thing - mine is out of range (40-59) isn't that a good thing?

Hang on a tick, I thought you said the HDL was 78. 78 would be good but the reason they said 40 - 59 was "out of range" is because you are right, HIGH HDL is a good thing, and 40 - 59 would be too low, is what they are sayin' to ya. Except up top you said your HDL was 78. I'm confusigated. Set me straight, please, as a LOST fan, I can't take one more mystery in my life, I've got too many going on already *lol*!
CONGRATS on going from 245 down to 194 total!

Oops, what I meant was that the "normal range" of HDL is 40-59 (that is what is listed on my paperwork). With my HDL reading at 78, I'm thinking that if it's that high, that's good right? BTW: my daughter is a fellow Lost fan too!

Right! The higher the HDL is within the total number, the better, it is the "good cholesterol". 78 is good, yay BTD!

When I last had mine done, the nurse mentioned that what was considered normal was going to be changing (Perhaps so they could medicate more people?) If yours has taken a turn for the better, that means alot! But I know there are people who know alot about this on this forum so hang tight and you will have a great explanation here soon. Sounds like your're on the right path.

what would your HDL/LDL ratio be, then?
divide HDL by LDL
HDL should be higher than LDL, I think.......
