Just received info in regards to blood type .B Negative.All of the previous allergy tests I had done are in agreement with my don'ts for food.Now what I am reading will make sence and hopefully will benefit health wise.Just being on flaxseed has helped a great deal.Trying to figure out meals will take an adjustment but with all your help Iam sure I'll figure it out.Having eight back operations behind me,meal planning should b a snch right.The only thing I have against me is i have tianium stel in my back,but it is there so I am able to walk.Has anyone found a solutuon to replacing olive oil?

BeeBee -- Bingo doesn't care for the taste of olive oil (mentioned on another thread), and apparently oil options are pretty limited for B's.  Do you have any suggestions?

Enjoy your B ness with BUTTER - yep REAL organic- grass fed butter is good for you !
It is true that oils are pretty limited for B´s  but almond oil, walnut oil are fine in salads/ but NEVER heat them.
You could try grape seed oil for frying/ but trow the oil out after frying.
Try different types of olive oil they taste different/ you might change taste after a while.
Ghee is great as well/ works good with high temperartures.

Carol, I didn't catch that Bingo didn't like the taste (sorry Bingo) and I was in a hurry to read and write and get off.  But since olive oil is beneficial and since I HATED the tast of evoo myself years ago I started out with (and I know this isn't the best idea) light olive oil and worked my way up to extra virgin cold pressed.  Now I ADORE the flavor of a good fruity olive oil.  It's nummy.  It's kind of like good wine.  Once you get the hang of it you can taste differences in olive oils depending on the region and olives and processing.  It's quite sensational.

bingo-glad to see you posted.  

Hey everyone.  Along with my A friend, I now have a B friend.  Will start looking for another AB friend (Isa is my first, but she already knew the diet.  Need to find a newbie in this town so i can learn also.  Hands on is best experience for me).

bingo cannot stomach olive oil (secretor test would be beneficial for her) and I know the oils are limited for B's.  Going over one day to show her how to make ghee.

WELCOME, Bingo!  I agree with Henriette, why not revel in your B-ness and enjoy the bliss of butter instead of olive oil?  However, I understand that sometimes you need an oil instead, like for salad dressings or whatever, so check out Typebase4 under "Oils" for ideas.  I'll suggest black currant seed oil (neutral for secretor B's, BENEFICIAL for non-secretor B's), flaxseed oil (ditto, also extremely high in omega-3's, which are the good fats), and walnut oil (ditto, and superbeneficial for B's with diabetes).  Not sure about the smokepoint of black currant seed oil, but flax and walnut are best used "raw" because they have a low smokepoint and thus will release free radicals if heated too much.  Best for salad dressings, etc.  You should stick to butter or ghee for anything heated, like for stir-frying.

Peppermint T's suggestions for oils are pretty good. Almond and wheat germ oil are neutrals for both secretors and non-secretors as well, so there's two more choices. Looks like most of the oils for Bs tend to be fairly fragile and not suitable to use for the higher temperatures generated by frying. However, I've found that adding ghee or butter to an oil and using the mix for frying sometimes raises the smoke point a bit (and adds a nice taste to the food as well). I would say give almond oil a try as a substitute for olive oil, and use the others as salad dressings or for flavor in already-cooked food.

Hi Bingo and Welcome!!

In regards to not liking the taste of olive oil... I don't know if this has been mentioned before or not but... there are olive oils.... and then there are olive oils. Some of the so-called domestic organic olive oils I can't stand the taste of. Imported olive oil often has less of a ... for lack of a better word... "green" taste to it and is quite delightfully peppery. If it is cold-pressed imported evoo, I don't worry so much as whether it is certified organic or not.

I have both EVOO and Extra Light Tasting Olive Oil in the pantry.  I use one, the other or mix them depending on how much oil flavor I want in a dish.
