Toward the end of last year I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. I bought the BTD book on Diabetes and really focused on the beneficial foods listed in there (especially the grains!). At the time I started, I had times when I would get shaky, I couldn't eat an apple without nuts (to balance the sugar), and I had marginal blood pressure (among other things).
After only 4 or 5 months of specifically focusing on the foods listed in the Diabetes book:
I have lost even more weight (16 lbs. total since starting back on the BTD in May 2005)
I can eat fruit alone with no adverse affects
I can tolerate grains better (although, I still focus mostly on the beneficals in that book)
My blood pressure is normal/good, (even taken at the Dr's office)!
I feel loads better overall.
I tested my morning blood sugar recently and it was also normal.
I don't even consider myself as a pre-diabetic so much anymore. So thank you to Dr. D for the individualized books - they work!
That is GREAT!!! I hope you don't mind me sending your story to my Mom, she just doesn't get it when I tell her about the BTD. She is also pre-diabetic with high blood pressure. Thanks for your story and keep up the good work!!
My daughter was unofficially heading there 2 years ago at age 10. Her urine tests were horrible and my homeopath/BTD doctor wanted me to take her to the doctor ASAP. I asked if I could get real serious about her diet for a week or two and she said that it was totally up to us. We did it and so far 2 years later, she is doing ok. At the time, she was too young to care. I think now she would find it a bit more troublesome to even think of taking time out of her busy day to test her blood or give herself a shot (I hope anyways).
So hat's off to Dr. D. and the BTD! BTW, her urine tests as far as the glucose were normal within ONE WEEK!!! So show this to your mom, Sasha!
