Pip and I have been following the BTD lifestyle very compliantly for about four years now and have had a lot of success. I was the one who had the greater need to find some real health solutions and we found answers through reading Dr D's publications and gradually found suppliers and learned how to get the best out of the diet.
Unfortunately I have not been able to get stabilised quite as well as Pip and have been getting some very different reactions to some of the recommended foods and it has all been rather confusing of late.
Our Daughter had been finding the same results as me and she visited a Homeopath in Timaru and was given a scan which identified some critical food allergies to foods in the BTD recommended range. Since then she has made better progress.
I decided out of curiosity to have the same scan to see if there was something bothering me. Highly sceptical and thinking all it would do is tell me that what we had been following was spot on I had the scan done.
The results of the scan showed that I had an allergic reaction to 31 food items. (Shock horror) Some, known avoids but quite a few others were highly beneficial foods.
The scan also showed severe Candida infestation (despite clear spit tests) and Leaky Gut problems and a deficiency in;
Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Zinc and selenium.
Despite regular organ function tests at our Md's laboratory being clear, the scan showed weak Adrenals and Liver weakness due to the Leaky Gut problems. I believe the Liver is responsible for the periodic vision distortion problems I have been experiencing for as long as I can remember. I was a very jaundiced colicy baby according to my late mother. Pieces of the jigsaw of problems I have had through life with food are now starting to fall into place and thanks to the lead given by the BTD I think I am going to make some more progress.
It is very dificult trying to learn from the books in isolation and almost only surrounded by an arogant insular self promoting medical establishment and Dr D so far away and unable to deal with us. Many thanks to the forum family without you it would be almost impossible. I will not publish the food allergy list here it is too long and besides you know what it's all about. Cheers John.

Hi John,

In an article I read recently he spoke of declining acidity in the styomach as we age (it is absent in many 65 yr olds).  Since, you and I and many others fit this exactly, then it may be well worth some supplemementation with betaine HCl or glutamic acid at most hfs to see.

The BTD is a basic framework, but it has to be tweaked for the individual ... in you case allergies + I suspect low hydrochloric acid levels due to aging.  Most of the symptoms that you talk about ... from candida on ... mineral absorbtion (I know you listed minerals ... but those you did list are major minerals and their common denominator is stomach acidity.) ... even some optic (eye) troubles.  I think such may be worth a trial anyways ..............

As you did notice ... homeopathic scanning does not say anything about proper acidity nor what you may do to have optimize health.  Only a gifted experienced person familiar with diet regimes can help in some circumstances.  I really like TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) for this reason.

I am curious what kind of scan you were given to identify the food allergies? Can the scan really tell that the foods cause true allergic reactions or just that you have a current intolerance for the item?

What you wrote candida and "weak Adrenals and Liver weakness due to the Leaky Gut problems" sounds like it could apply to me too.

I had a leaky gut problem. I think it is substantially healed, but I don't know if it is completely healed. The reason I think it is at least mostly healed is I can eat foods that I couldn't before without having noticeable sinus problems the next day like I did for so many years.

I definitely have weak adrenals and based on all the stones I have flushed out of my liver/gallbladder over the past 2 years I suspect I have liver problems as well.

I will be curious to hear about your healing program and progress.

I have always had problems with high acidity which resulted in an Hiatus Hernia and surgical reconstruction of same. This is what prompted me to look for alternatives hence my introduction to BTD.

It soon became clear that this was the pathway to healthy living for a pair of ageing "O"'neg's but finding professional support out here has been difficult to say the least.

I hear what you are saying John about the changes as we age and I will stay alert to that but meantime I am going to work with the Homeopath and the BTD to see what transpires.

Don, the scan was as far as I can ascertain a "Quantum Xxeroid System Body Scan".

I posted it on here to see if anyone has heard of it as I believe it has USA origins.

The actual scan is very quick, the rest of the consultation is taken up with analising the results of the readout and finding solutions.

I must admit that I went in full of scepticism but I was surprised at how accurate it was because I did not say anything until the scan was completed and printed out.
 
I was however blown away by the number of food allergies listed but it was suggested, as you mentioned Don, that they may change back following satisfactory treatment of the Candida and leaky gut.

It was complimentary rather than contradictory to the BTD and it is just helping me tweak a few things back on track.
