210 lbs to 201 in 12 days, lost another 2 lbs in the next 19 days, but it is an inconsistent process, there will be periods of plateauing. In the latter stages of the month I also increased my fruit intake which might have negatively impacted my glycerine levels.

In May when I started with the BTD I was at 158 - I now fluxuate somewhere between 135-137 or so depending on what part of my cycle I'm in and I'm pretty content with where I'm at now. The biggest difference I've seen is in how my body shape has changed and become much smaller - I have gone from a size 12 and sometimes size 14 to a size 6 - that has been surprising to me.

I'm just a little old O - so maybe you won't take my word for it - but my basic understanding of this way of eating and because it is such a balanced way of eating that if a person is eating right for whatever type they are then naturally over time if a person is overweight then they will come down to their ideal weight - just like if a person is underweight and eating right for their type then overtime they will come up to their ideal weight. Both would be in a slow and healthy way. For those of you who have been doing this a long time - would that be right?

That is probably part of it - but honestly I don't actually count my carbs but I think I eat quite a few more than is probably recommended - like I eat quite a bit of fruit and have added back a fair amount of rice products and occasionally beans and I've been fine and not having a problem maintaining my loss which is the point I'm at now. I wasn't eating as much of the rice though when I was losing more - but pretty much everything else stayed about the same - including quite a bit of daily fruit consumption. I think a huge thing for me that helped in my weight loss was getting away from all of the processed junk food I used to eat. Now my food actually nourishes me instead of just stuffing me and making me feel awful.

I'm not sure plateauing is a bad thing. It could just be that your body is natrually acclimating itself. If the weight restarts after a few weeks I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I use BTD for what I eat and WW Core Plan for how much and accountability. I have had a "weight problem" since I was 5 and need something like WW to keep me on track. I also realized that I seem to be on a ten year cycle - I lose the weight and eventually gain it back then lose it again every ten years. Haven't figured out why.
I am finding that BTD feels more like a lifestyle change rather than a weight loss plan and hope that I won't be facing another huge loss in ten years.
I still have quite a ways to go, I hope to be there by my next birthday, a year from now.
Now all I have to do is get my mom to stop calling BTD "that crazy diet."

Now all I have to do is get my mom to stop calling BTD "that crazy diet."
Last summer, on holiday with my family, my sister and her husband saw me loose 12 pounds in 15 days. They saw how I had copious breakfasts, lunches and dinners. I actually ate more than them and I was not really fat to start with (143 pounds and 5'8 ) so weight loss is harder.
And the weight loss was beautiful. My body was toned, I had no saggy skin, the face looked good... and I was 42.
I gave the book to my sister's mother in law and she also lost a lot of weight and her husband got rid of an allergy which kept his nose dripping all day.
Can you believe both my sister and husband are now going to go to a nutritionist which is going to charge them a fortune...
tjwisk, I sugest you continue with what suits you well and others will join or better still, respect you when they are ready.
My wife is unhappy beause she has been gaining weight (she is an A), but does not wish to follow the diet as it would require her to give up her "comfort foods". A pity since she has seen me drop 12 lbs now in the first 6 weeks, and would not require her comfort foods should she follow the diet. Human nature is hard to comprehend at times.

I am going to get on my soap box here regarding "human nature." It is very hard for anyone to overcome the years of the way we have been fed or using food to feed our feelings, where such terms as "comfort food" come from. There's all kinds of emotional entanglements with food and feelings and it is so much easier to keep doing what one "knows." It takes a hardy soul to get pass these things.
I had a couple of weeks of teeth clenching to get over wanting sugar and white bread. Was this want emotional or physical, probably both.
I also found that something someone said on their talk show; "I stayed fat because I didn't think I was worth taking care of," really hit home with me.
And finally, I had to decide that I was ready. No urging from my spouse would make me change my eating habits.
My husband won't give up his desserts, he won't even tell me his blood type, but I know that he needs to decide if/when he wants to make a change.

I lost 65 lbs. in 2 years which I think was a really good pace. Then plateaued for over a year eating like a secretor. In the spring I gained about 6-8 lbs. Depending on what I ate that day. Started making pizza dough out of spelt and Suzanne's bread she has been dreaming of. (Spelt/Rye). Had the secretor test done a little over a month ago, adjusted the diet again and have lost 10 lbs. now. Have about another 20-30 lbs. to go and I hope to have it off by Samos. Sooner would be nicer. We will have to wait and see. One day at a time.
Debra
P. S. My family knows how well it has worked for me, but do not believe that they have to do it for themselves. One day I will be able to give them the "I told you so look".

To the original poster. I am a teacher who is VERY busy at present, our school has decided that there should be a progress report coming out in mid-October and we are still learning the children's names, all 124 that I teach. I am saying this as a means of indicating that I have not been able to find anytime to exercise since late August when the school year started.
I started this diet August 17th, exactly 6 weeks and 4 days ago from today (46 days). This morning my scale indicated 195 lbs, a drop of 15 lbs and no exercise, just diet alone. I wonder what would have happened if I had been exercising. As I stand 6' 4" (190 cms), it is obviously not simply a matter of excess water (as it might be if I weighed over 300 lbs).
What I am trying to say is that, you will read of people dropping 120 lbs in two years, or something like that, which is reasonable, but all depends on your present weight, height and build. Basically, the diet sends you to a level where you are at your ideal, natural body weight. You do not indicate your present height, build (as blessed by genetics), and weight, or more ideally, bodyfat percentage. This is just a point that do not expect to emulate the results of others, some you will never reach, some you will surpass. Simply get on the diet, weigh yourself about every ten days (ideally don't go near your scales as your weight can fluctuate up or down 4 lbs in any given day depending on a number of factors, including water retention), and if you must measure your progress, use your belt on your waist band as a rule of thumb.
I have what is probably a unique way of judging progress, in the bath at night, the tub full, I lie on my back (is there another way?), suck in my gut, and see how high the water rises above my naval, 46 days ago, my stomach mimicked an island, standing above my every attempt to suck in. At present, my stomach sinks 4 cms (1.5 ins)below the water.
